Scott Lane, President, Canada Cartage

IT ALL BEGINS WITH SAFETY

HIGH-VISIBILITY SAFETY APPAREL (HVSA)

High-visibility safety apparel (HVSA) includes vests, coats, and coveralls designed to make workers more visible, especially in low-light or dark conditions It helps alert drivers and operators to a worker's presence.

All employees, visitors, and contractors must wear HVSA when:

Outside a vehicle in a yard or site requiring visibility gear

Operating machinery in a yard, site, or warehouse

Walking or working in a shop or warehouse

Bright, contrasting colours improve visibility, helping drivers spot workers from a distance and respond accordingly, which helps keep everyone safe

APRIL IS CANCER AWARENESS MONTH: JOIN US FOR THE RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER

Show Your Support

Even if you're not participating, you can help by spreading the word, making a donation, or wearing a ribbon to honour those impacted by cancer.

Register today to ride or volunteer and help us reach our fundraising goals. For more details, join us for a webinar of April 9th to learn more about the ride or how to volunteer. Register for the webinar here.

Together, we can conquer cancer one step, one ride, and one act of support at a time.

CCLS SUPPORTING CALGARY'S VETERANS

The Calgary divisions of CCLS (Canada Cartage Logistics Solutions) came together once again for their annual food drive and the results were outstanding. This year, they donated 1,357 pounds of food and supplies to the Veterans Food Bank of Calgary, valued at $4,776.64.

The Canadian Veterans Services Society expressed heartfelt appreciation, with Donor Relations Coordinator Sheri Langen saying, "Your efforts are enormous in serving our veterans and first responders Your donation will go a long way "

Thanks to the generosity of CCLS employees, countless veterans and first responders will receive the support they need. The Society is already looking ahead, eager to partner again for the 2025 Food Drive!

WELLNESS CORNER AVOID THE BITE: TICK SEASON IS HERE

As temperatures rise above 4°C, tick season is starting across Canada. Ticks are tiny, bloodsucking arachnids (related to spiders) that become active in the spring and stay active until temperatures consistently fall below 4°C

While small usually under 1 cm ticks can grow after feeding. They don't fly or jump but crawl to find hosts. The most common species in Canada are the American dog tick and the black-legged tick, which can affect both humans and pets.

Ticks live in wooded areas, tall grass, leaf litter, and even city parks The black-legged tick prefers moist environments, while the American dog tick is more common in drier spots.

The biggest concern is Lyme disease, the most common tick-borne illness in Canada. As tick populations grow, so does the risk.

Protect yourself and your pets: Avoid high-risk areas when possible. After outdoor activities, check for ticks

GET CONNECTED FREE GAME, HIDDEN THREAT

Cybercriminals are targeting users with a new scam involving a fake video game called PirateFi. They advertise a job opportunity that promises payment for monitoring in-game chats if you download the game first. It sounds like easy money, but it's actually a trap

The game contains malware designed to steal personal information from your web browser. Once stolen, this data can be used to access your online accounts. Instead of getting paid, victims end up handing over valuable personal data.

Stay safe with these tips:

Only download software or games from trusted sources.

Keep your antivirus software up to date

Be cautious of offers that sound too good to be true they usually are.

Never accept job offers that require you to install software before hiring.

Trust your instincts and think before you click.

Protect your data. Stay alert.
