Contrast

This interior shows a variety of furniture and colors to create contrast in the room.
Line

Horizontal Lines

The wood paneling on the fireplace form horizontal lines.

Vertical Lines

The wood paneling creates a vertical line throughout the space

Diagonal Lines

The lines across the wall are considered diagonal lines.

Curved Lines

The ceiling and parts of the walls show this interesting, curved line work that's layered on top of eachother.

Form
This chair shows an uncomfortable function based on the shape of the chair.

Balance

Symmetrical

The furniture seen on the left is the same on right if cut in half.

Asymmetrical

If you were to cut this room in half, everything that is seen on the right cannot be seen on the left.

Scale

Scale Up

This photo shows all of the furniture being used in a smaller space. The furniture that makes this scaled up is the large chandelier and potted plant.

Scale Down

The furniture in this space is very

low to the ground and makes this a scaled down space.

Rbythm

Simple Repetition

Repetition is shown throughout the space with the windows and the seating.

Transition

This space shows transition that's used to create rhythm. This moves your eye across the plane and around the wall.

Progression/Gradation

The walls show gradation from the tan to white then t blue gradients as your eye travels up the wall.

Emphasis

Obvious Focal Point

The focal point in this space is the gold panels making a headboard effect for the bed. Also, everything else in the room is a neutral color except for the panels, which they are gold.

Texture

Rough

This bedroom shows rough texture that increases volume of a piece of furniture. The texture on the wall and ceiling increases the volume.

Smooth

The smooth texture in this space is the concrete flooring, this is a good balance between this and the wood ceilings.

Pattern

Natural

The pattern on the wall shows a natural forest leaf look.

Conventionalized

The wall shows a conventionalized representation of, in my opinion, orange trees.

Abstract

The focal wall is abstract because of its crazy shapes and figures.

Geometric

The focal wall uses geometric shapes to create a pattern.

Color

Advancing Color on Walls

Red is an advancing color that makes a room feel smaller.

Receding Color on Walls

Blue is an receding color that makes a room feel bigger.

Advancing Color on Furniture

When a piece of furniture is a warm color, it makes the space look bigger than it is.

Receding Color on Furniture

When a piece of furniture is a cool color, it makes a space look smaller than it is.

Monochromatic

Monochromatic is one color, which may include different tints and shades. The space shown below is a monochromatic color scheme of greens.

Analogous

This space shows a color scheme of purple and blue tints and shades.

Complementary Colors

The color scheme being used in this space is yellow, blue, and red, this is the primary colors.
