The Spa Spot owners, Camrosians Kyle and Candace Vendel barely have time to go for lunch. True rest is not an option. To call the last four years a “whirlwind” is an understatement. In this time period they have opened a store in Duggan Mall. Not many months later they doubled the amount of square footage. While operating this location they travelled the province, and beyond, setting up countless weekend or weeklong hot tub sales at temporary locations often at busy special events the likes of Big Valley Jamboree, right here in Camrose. In 2011 the couple set up a permanent store in the thriving City of Lloydminster. Just last year they added a third permanent retail operation in Edmonton. In 2013, a permanent Red Deer location was established. Most recently they moved their Camrose store to an even bigger, more visible location along 48th Avenue in Camrose. (Somewhere in all of this beehive of activity they also got married –yes they’re busy people!) The Spa Spot, still headquartered in Camrose, boasts a perfect rating with the Better Business Bureau. The business has quickly become western Canada’s largest volume retailer of hot tubs! Why? That answer is easy, according to Kyle: “It’s a result of flawless customer service.” Adds Candace: “Our goal is a happy customer for life. We look after little problems that competitors would overlook.” Clearly The Spa Spot game plan is working. In addition to their impressive sales numbers, the locally owned company now owns the distinctive title of being North America’s highest volume Maax Spa dealer. Since opening their first location, The Spa Spot has expanded into areas beyond hot tubs. Staff now sell and service quality pool tables and saunas. Each staff member is well educated on all chemicals and solutions pertaining to optimum water conditions in hot tubs. The company has one additional unique and much desired policy. Kyle explains: “We do not charge mileage for warranty calls. If we’ve sold a tub and there’s a problem, it doesn’t matter how far the distance. We’ve never declined a warranty call. We treat this visit as an opportunity to strengthen our bond with our customer.” The Spa Spot philosophy is simple and it goes a long way to explain the four stores’ fast track to success – the best tubs, the best service, the best prices.
