Irvin Isaac was born on October 3, 1939 in Swalwell Alberta. He was the second child of 13 born to Solomon and Margreth Isaac. Irvin started his trucking career at the age of 18, hauling fuel for his Dad. On one of his delivery runs, he met the love of his life and marriage partner for over 50 years, Grace Elizabeth McCaig. They were married on June 24, 1961 and were blessed with four daughters. Most of his career was spent in the trucking industry. In 1968, he started Irvin’s Transport, hauling broilers for Canada Packers and employing brothers and friends to drive alongside of him. The year 1975 brought a move for the family back to the community of Edberg to farm. He farmed for several years, but couldn’t deny the fact that trucking was in his blood. In 1984, he returned to drive for Kleyson Transport until his retirement in 2007 when he traded 18 wheels for the six tires of their motorhome. While raising his family, summer weekends would be spent at the lake boating and camping. After retirement, Irvin and Grace continued to enjoy camping, visiting family and friends, and their winter trips to Arizona. Irvin passed away peacefully on February 10, 2012 at St Mary’s Hospital with his family by his side after a lengthy battle with cancer. Irvin will be lovingly remembered by his dear wife Grace; four daughters and their husbands Cindy and Pat Trautman, Donna and Dave Tomaszewski, Arlene and Allan Knudson, and Debby and Lonnie Hunker. He was a proud grandpa to Justin and Janet Trautman, Jordan Trautman, Mathew Tomaszewski and Janelle Yuha, Jerrica Tomaszewski, Calla and Jasia Knudson, Kevin, and Katie and Konnor Hunker; and was Great-Grandpa to Gabriel Trautman. He is survived by seven brothers and five sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Irvin was predeceased by his father, mother and brother-in-law Leroy Thiessen. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Century Meadows Baptist Church, Camrose. Interment took place at Valleyview Cemetery, Camrose. Memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Northern Alberta or to St. Mary’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Condolences may be made at www.weberfuneralhome.ca.
