On June 6, 1844, a young clerk named George Williams gathered a few of his co-workers with the hope of discovering a way that young men could find a better life. Surely he could not have envisioned that from that small gathering would spring an organization that would change the world.
Today, the Y has become one of the world’s largest voluntary human service organizations dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child, teen and family, improving our community’s health and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

The Los Angeles YMCA’s George Williams Society welcomes individuals, families, corporations and foundations for their cumulative generosity of gifts and irrevocable deferred gifts of $100,000 or more to the Association.
Members of the Society have helped to ensure the Y’s lasting impact in the community. Using the Y triangle symbol, which represents the perfect balance of spirit, mind and body, the Society recognizes donors at four different levels. The highest honor is reserved for members of the Gold Triangle giving level.
