“The
counselors are the magic sauce. It is amazing for our kids to have these young, cool, positive Jewish role models. My son's counselors made his summer so much fun.”
- 2025 Camp Parent (from summer 2025 parent survey)
Successful
Dear Kehillah,
The mission of Camp Ramah has always been clear: Create a vibrant Jewish community rooted in care, community, joyful programming, Jewish values, the outdoors, and nurtur the next generation of Jewish leaders. Each summer, at our beautiful Camp, campers no build skills and independence - they build their identities. They form lifelong friendships, courage, stretch their skills, and discover the confidence that comes from being truly kn

Kayitz '25 was a powerful expression of that mission, a summer of Od Yoter Tov - even better Across edot (divisions) and programs, our chanichim (campers) embraced new challenges and engaged in cheerful play They deepened their connections to Israel and experienced the magic of Shabbat among peers From creative arts to athletics, outdoor adventures, water fun, and boisterous singing, the ruach (energy) at Camp reflected the very best of Jewish camping
Our work extends far beyond the summer months This year, we expanded opportunities for alumni to connect with one another and with Camp in ways that nurture a lifelong network built on shared experiences The new Ramah-Mas an Dadas get together for alumni with young children is one example of how our community truly reflects the spirit of l’dor v’dor, from parents to children Today, many of our campers are second- and even third-generation Ramah Berkshires families, a powerful testament to the lasting impact Camp has across generations
None of this would be possible without the extraordinary generosity of our donors and supporters. Your commitment sustains our mission, strengthens our programs, supports our talented staff, and ensures that more children can experience the gift of Jewish camping. Your philanthropy is an investment in Jewish continuity, leadership, and community

Finally, we are strengthened by a talented team at Camp - including the passionate, skilled year-round team and the vibrant summer staff of counselors and specialists, from local communities and from far away - who worked together to make Kayitz '25 so meaningful and fun! They, along with our families and alumni, have positioned us for continued growth Above all else, it is the laughter of our campers, the friendships they form, and the Jewish lives they build, that remind us why this work matters so deeply
We invite you to read what's inside this Annual Report, and enjoy our reflections of the past summer with a reminder that Od Yoter Tov, the best is yet to come
Toda Rabah,
Atara Jacobson, President
On behalf of the Ramah Berkshires Board of Directors

Camp Ramah in the Berkshires is a vibrant summer camp community, where children grow in a beautiful and safe setting, surrounded by life-long friends and nurtured by spirited role models From sports to the arts, swimming to outdoor adventure, Camp is infused with the best of the traditions and values of Conservative Judaism: love of mitzvot, Hebrew language, and the land and people of Israel; commitment to inclusion and Tikun Olam; and the joy of learning and prayer.

We celebrate every day as we immerse in exceptional and joyful Jewish experiences
With a focus on kindness and caring are inclusive and show mutual respe
We ask questions, we explore, we try new things, we find our voices

We have a deep and abiding love of Israel and for the Jewish community
We build lifelong relationships in our home away from home
In all that we do, Ramah Berkshires is committed to ensuring enjoyable, meaningful, and safe experiences for our campers and staff.
Kayitz ‘25 had a renewed focus on our agam (lake)

Hundreds of chanichim took to the water each day with new and improved programming for all our edot (divisions): from instructional swim and lifeguarding courses to refreshing takes on utilizing existing water toys
We also re-introduced the ‘Agam Triangle Swim’ this year, a ½ mile swim challenge from the waterfront to the rock on the other side of agam and back again The Agam Triangle was swam by over 200 campers who had completed proficient swimming lessons over the course of the summer.

Palmer Day 2025 took place this year at Ramah New England, where campers enjoyed a fantastic day of competition, sportsmanship, and team building
After two months of training throughout the summer, campers proudly showcased their skills in a range of events including basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, dance, and chess
For our second year in a row, we partnered with the Jewish Agency for Israel and - for the first time - the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest New Jersey to welcome 22 Israelis to Camp as part of the Campers2Gether program This initiative offers Israeli teens a sense of normalcy, joy, and respite from the events that have impacted their communities in the last two years
We were also thrilled to host members of NOAMthe global youth movement of Masorti Judaism - at Ramah Berkshires for Kayitz ‘25.

Our Hatzagot are annual highlights at Camp This year, our chanichim took part in three amazing plays: Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Our B-Side chanichim embraced the opportunity to bring these scripts to life, with great dedication and creativity - the definition of Achrayut and Malchut Keep your eyes peeled for Wicked: For Good next Kayitz?!

Following the successful 2024 launch of Life Skills for our rising 10th graders, each day, campers chose from a variety of workshops designed to teach practical and creative skills including changing tires, plumbing, interview techniques, budgeting, woodwork, data interpretation and more.
Our Machon chanichim were not only provided useful tools but also fostered a sense of responsibility and leadership that will serve them well both at Camp and beyond
This year Ramah Berkshires was able to provide seven overnight trips for our campers in edot Solelim through Gesher ‘25. This year we had some unforgettable adventures in Boston, Kent Falls, Lake George, New Paltz, Philadelphia, hiking the Appalachian trail and a visit to Canada!
Our other trips also included activities like white water rafting, ice skating, bowling, and a visit to DIG Farms.

Gesher ‘24 Reunited

In May, before the summer began, we welcomed back Gesher ‘24 to Camp for a joyful and memorable Shabbat ahead of their travels to Israel and Europe on Ramah Seminar It was a truly special opportunity for these young alumni to return to Camp for the weekend, reconnect with one another, and kick off their summer together.

This year, Ramah Berkshires was truly on the road, connecting with our community across the region for parlor meetings and celebrations. We sang, danced, played games, and got creative with art - bringing the sights, sounds, and spirit of Camp to schools, synagogues, and community events Ramah on the Road in 2025

50 campers old and new joined us for an evening of bowling and Ramah ruach at our A-Side reunion This was a chance for our campers to reconnect in the 10 months away from Camp snd continue to build on the wonderful friendships made during the summer.
In November 2025 we were joined by 40 families for Havdalah in Teaneck, NJ It offered an amazing range of activities for kids including pillow and cookie decorating, air freshener making, games, dancing, and lots of music.
Yom Kef is our annual family fun day at Camp, where all families - returning, new, and prospective - enjoy a day at Ramah Berkshires before Camp begins. They have the opportunity to tour Camp, experience our programming, and meet our wonderful summer tzevet (staff).

Family camp is a staple date in our calendar. This year we welcomed 20+ families at Camp for a long weekend of great activities, and Jewish joy.
My son Micah and I returned to Ramah Berkshires for Family Camp this year, after having a great time last summer - we loved it so much (and told everyone how much we loved it) that friends of ours joined us at Camp this time around!
Ever since leaving last summer, my son kept talking about Family Camp, and all year we’d reference things we did or people we met I finally understood the whole #10for2 thing and why people loved Camp so much. When we returned this August, it felt like going home in many ways, right from the minute we arrived to enthusiastic greetings and hugs from Alana, Liya, and Tami. Dietary needs during meals were no problem, thanks to Herman and Chef Hong, who made sure we never went hungry! And while, of course, every summer is different, we got to do some of our favorite things again like omanut (arts & crafts) and archery, and tried new things like homesteading and kayaking.
While my son loved all the activities, being in a Jewish space meant I could fully relax I felt it last year too: there is a letting down of defenses (whether one realizes it or not) in this environment. It’s the only place my son will wear his “Bring Them Home” dogtag, even though I wear mine every day Jewish joy is more important than ever right now, and Family Camp was an opportunity to recharge our souls one that we desperately needed. Before we even left, as we were packing up the cabin, my son turned to me and said:

“We’re coming back next year, right?”
Jamie Rochelle Herndon Family Camp participant 2025
Family Camp ‘26 is August 20 - 24, 2026. Scan the QR for more information.
We’re proud to welcome staff from around the globe! Their diverse cultures, perspectives, and talents enrich Camp life and make the summer experience even more meaningful for our campers

Kayitz 2025: 361 staff members, 13 countries, 1 Ramah Berkshires Argentina | Canada | Colombia | Hungary | Israel | Mexico | Peru | Poland | Slovakia | South Africa | Uganda | UK | USA

Our second and third year counselors, along with Roshei Edah and Ramah Berkshires leadership prepared for the summer by participating in National Ramah staff training programs, the Weinstein Institute and Winer Leadership Fellowship. Together, they planned exciting evening activities and learned how to design programs with purpose, ensuring the best outcomes for our campers. The Fellowships were also a great opportunity for our counselors and staff to come together with colleagues from across the country to share ideas ahead of Kayitz’ 25

Every year, Labor Day Weekend is a special time for alumni to return to Camp, and celebrate all weekend long From Shabbat to Havdalah, to the ropes course, jumping in the agam and reflecting on their camper days, alumni enjoy this weekend immensely and are reminded of the impact Ramah Berkshires has had on their lives, and will for many years to come.
Thank you to this year ’ s co-chairs Gaby Roth (Gesher ‘11) and Sarah Saad (Gesher ‘11) for their leadership in planning this incredible weekend

For Kayitz 2025, Camp tried something different this year and held Yom Bogrei Ramah (Gesher Reunion Day) in partnership with Yom Kef (Family Fun Day) for one amazing day at Camp!
Yom Bogrei Ramah celebrated Gesherim ’15, ’05 and earlier Alumni were able to reconnect with old friends, enjoy cherished Camp activities including basketball in the Ulam, Omanut on the Sun Deck, a visit to the Canteen, Rikud, Bishul, Lunch in the Chadar Ochel, and much more.

Since its inception in 2019, the Give the Gift of Camp campaign has grown exponentially In 2025, the fundraiser expanded to include alumni of all ages Cochairs, Debbie Kruger (Gesher ’07), Hannah Margolis (Gesher ’15) and Sarah Stone Davis (Gesher ’16) led the charge in bringing together over 250 alumni to raise over $50,000 towards camper scholarships.
The 18th Annual Golf & Pool Outing was held on Monday, July 14th, co-chaired by Sam Levy (Gesher ’00) and Rachel Engelberg (Gesher ’07) Over 90 members of our community attended the outing. The day-long event included traditional 18-hole golf, golf lessons, swimming, and breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Campsgiving has been a longstanding alumni tradition for many years The Saturday night following Thanksgiving, alumni of all ages reunite by gathering at a bar in New York City for a night of fun and re-connection with fellow Camp alumni We certainly have a lot to be thankful for, and our alumni are at the heart of our community
Founded in 1996, RBA brings together alumni for a full season of basketball competition, culminating with the Eric Steinthal z”l Memorial Championship Game Ramah alumni and their spouses are eligible to play in the league, which takes place every winter at Chelsea Piers

Each year, the Eric Steinthal z”l RBA Service Award is presented to one Ramahnik in recognition of their extraordinary service and devotion to the Ramah Basketball Association, exemplifying Eric’s passion and leadership.

Now in its second year, 12 alumni all over the country hosted Shabbat dinners on the same Friday night in collaboration with OneTable, and chaired by Sydney Shaiman (Gesher ‘13 ) Over 120 Ramah Berkshires alumni gathered together for Shabbat dinners from Chicago to Detroit, to Mt Vernon, NY to New York City and more!

Gilad Thaler (Gesher ’06) produced the deep and meaningful movie ‘Surviving Nova’, just a mere month after the October 7th attacks This summer, Gilad shared his Peabody award-winning film and experience with the Ramah Berkshires community. We were grateful to hear from him in combination with moderator Jason Goldberg (Gesher ’06 –also in the film industry) for a fascinating Q&A that showcased the hardships in making this documentary

Camp alumni and their little ones gathered for an afternoon of music, food, and fun on the Upper West Side The event created a meaningful opportunity to engage alumni who are new parents - no longer young alumni, but not yet camp parents - while fostering connection and community within the Ramah Berkshires family. We are so grateful to our co-chairs, Arielle Glaser (Gesher ’06), Angelica Rubin Foger (Staff ’08), Amalia Safran (Gesher ’07), and Danielle Segal (Gesher ’06), for creating an innovative and welcoming experience for this growing part of our community

The 2025 Ramah Berkshires Gala was held at Temple Emanu-El in Closter, NJ on January 11, 2025 At this annual event we gathered together as a community to celebrate and honor these longtime community members who inspire us with their commitment, passion, and love for Ramah Berkshires
Jon Apter
Jon Apter is a lifelong Ramahnik and would not have it any other way From his time as a camper, to a staff member and now a Board member holding various roles, he has given his passion, time and support to see Ramah Berkshires flourish.

Amy Winiker Forrest
Karen and Jonathan Kaplan

Karen and Jonathan Kapl. are dedicated supporters of Ramah Berkshires and have deep roots in Conservative Judaism. Their extended legacy resulted in their 3 children and 10 grandchildren all having spent summers at Ramah Berkshires
Amy Winiker Forrest was the recipient of the 2025 Alumni Leadership Award. A Ramahnik through and through, she grew up at Camp beginning as a camper in Cochavim, continuing on staff as a counselor and later Rosh Edah, and then, as a volunteer, serving as President of the Alumni Association She now proudly sits on the Board
Thank you to all of our incredible honorees, whose dedication and impact continue to strengthen our Camp community.

We look forward to welcoming our Kehillah (community) at the Ramah Berkshires Gala 2026.
“My camper is the only Jewish kid in her entire school. Having a place like Camp, where everyone is Jewish and she doesn’t have to explain anything, and a place where she knows that she is part of a community, rather than an outsider, is truly meaningful for us.”
- 2025 Camp Parent (from summer 2025 parent survey)

Over the past five years, your generous support has enabled us to provide more than $2 million in financial tuition assistance
In 2025, 24% of our campers received financial aid from Ramah Berkshires This was made possible through the contributions of our community
