Welcome to Incomparable Camp Ozark 2019 At Incomparable Camp Ozark, we are all about family. For the past 35 years, the Sam and Susan Torn family has been serving Camp Ozark families with one goal, one mission in mind—to provide an incomparable camp environment and experience for kids, through a commitment to excellence in all that we do, while seeking to establish and deepen relationships with Jesus Christ. At Camp Ozark, we understand and love children, we understand and love the concept of family, and we understand and love the great benefits that the Camp Ozark experience can provide to each and every individual family who chooses to share this amazing experience with us.

We are committed to always enhancing, always investing, and always adding new and more ways for Camp Ozark to enrich every child’s Ozark experience. For the camper, summer 2019 will bring a new game pavilion, upgrades to camp combat and the Crystal Mine, a new special event State Fair, updated Large Gym, and a few renovated cabins for our youngest campers! But, as we continue to enhance, invest, and enrich, we never lose sight of the most important thing at Incomparable Camp Ozark, the individual child. Our children grew up as Ozark campers and our grandchildren, all twelve of them, are now growing up as Ozark campers. We know that after everything is said and done, what matters is the individual experience of each and every child. That’s what matters to us, the Torn family.

If this is your very first experience at Camp Ozark, "WELCOME." We want to come alongside you every step of the way, to help make this experience truly incomparable. If you are a returning family, "WELCOME BACK," and rest assured that the same familiar commitment to you and your family never changes…never has, never will. We, as a family, are involved in every decision, every facet of every day at Camp Ozark. That was our commitment 35 summers ago, when we embarked on this journey. HELPFUL HINTS The camper travel itinerary is mailed and also available on the "My Campers" tab of the My Ozark dashboard (see green bar above) and on the Camp Ozark Go app, two weeks prior to arrival at camp.

Activities are not necessarily populated to your camper's schedule in the exact order selected on My Ozark. Campers can change their activity schedules on Opening Day and on Monday at Chill Out and Mish Mash.

Make sure you fill out the Health Registration completely so you can access the Camp Ozark Physical Form to take with you to your doctor for your camper's required camp physical.

The most convenient way to submit your health documents is to upload them to your My Ozark dashboard via the website or the Camp Ozark Go app.

TRIBAL COMPETITION

Campers spend a short part of each day as members of one of two tribes—the Caddo or the Osage. Each morning, campers play a competitive game to earn points for their tribe. Throughout the session, a running score is kept so that at the close of each Camp Ozark session, one of the two tribes, the Caddo or the Osage, is declared the final victor.

Each camper creates their own unique, individualized morning activity schedule. There are three morning activity classes that meet daily between Chill Out and lunch. Campers will have three different morning activity classes each week. Through My Ozark, campers should select morning activity classes based on order of preference. Morning activities are a great time to sharpen skills or try something new. Most activities are also available at Mish Mash, as well.

VENTURE EXPERIENCES

HIKE TO CROSS THE

On the middle Sunday of every session, the ENTIRE CAMP hikes up to the cross for a SPECIAL WORSHIP SERVICE high above the Camp Ozark grounds.

These special activities are only offered during the middle weekend of two and three week sessions.

With dozens and dozens of options ranging from CRYSTALS GALORE TO MOUNTAINEER EXTREME TO ACE OF CAKES, campers select their particular ventures in advance on My Ozark.

Campers then have an opportunity to complete as many as three ventures on the Saturday of their middle weekend at Camp Ozark.

These overnight trips are special experiences for our OLDEST CAMPERS ONLY. We reserve a PRIVATE CAMPSITE on Lake Ouachita for cabin activities, extra lake time, and special age-specific devotional topics designed to encourage and challenge our oldest campers.

Ride a Camp Ozark staffed chartered bus (available from various cities) to camp AND/OR depart via bus after the Closing Day Ceremonies.

Arrive via private automobile on the opening Sunday of the session AND/OR depart via automobile after the Closing Day Ceremonies on the final Saturday.

Fly into the Little Rock airport to then be transported to camp via chartered bus staffed with Ozark employees. Departure using this airport is also available.

Fly into Bearce Airport located in Mt. Ida, AR approximately twelve miles from camp via private/small aircraft. Transportation to camp from Mt. Ida will be provided.

There are many places to stay near Camp Ozark. We suggest that you make your reservations well in advance. First class hotel facilities are available in Hot Springs, Arkansas, 40 miles east of Camp Ozark. In addition, there are several nice lodging options within 20-30 minutes of Camp Ozark. For more information, refer to the lodging list found at campozark.com. Click on “Camp Preparation & Travel Guide.�

2019 QUESTIONS MEDICATION

OPENING DAY

Each session begins on a Sunday. Opening Day procedures are designed to make the parent's and camper's experience as smooth and efficient as possible.

Prior to your session you will receive an email with opening day specific logistics and FAQs. Gates open at 1:00 PM for sessions 1-5, A, C, E, G, I, K, N & 12:30 PM for sessions B, D, F, H, J, L & M. An Opening Day Guide, as well as both valet and luggage service, are provided to all families arriving via private automobile. Campers arriving via chartered bus or airplane receive assistance with luggage and are moved into their cabin by our staff immediately upon arrival. Refer to page 20 for a detailed Opening Day Schedule or the camp calendar found at campozark.com/calendar.

If your camper takes any medication (prescription or over the counter) on a daily or as needed basis, send the medication form and the corresponding medications together in their original containers to Camp Ozark

by May 1st, 2019. It is not necessary to send basic over-the-counter medications that your child does not take on a daily basis, such as those for fevers or colds, etc.

Camp Ozark provides these medications when determined necessary by the Health Center Staff. Only inhalers, epipens, injectable medications, and new prescriptions (prescribed within 7 days prior to arrival of camp) can be brought to camp on Opening Day without incurring a late fee. There is a $20 medication service fee for all medication processing, handling, and packaging. For medications other than the listed exceptions above received on Opening Day, there will be a $55 late fee (in addition to the $20 medication service fee) and a potential 48 hour delay to process medication.

HEALTH FORMS

Each camper must receive a physical on a Camp Ozark Physical Form. This form is available after you complete the health registration section on the My Ozark dashboard. Physician signature is required on both sides of this form. Immunizations are mandatory, no exemptions or exceptions.

CLOSING DAY

We strongly encourage every parent to attend Closing Ceremonies on the last day of your camper’s session (Saturday). The program begins at 10:00 AM for all two week sessions and for sessions B, D, F, H, J, L, & M. There is an optional picnic lunch after Closing Ceremony with your camper’s cabin and counselors ($7.50 per person, advance reservations, please). Closing Ceremony begins at 11:00 AM for A, C, E, G, I, K, & N. *NOTE: There is no picnic lunch for these sessions. Please see page 21 for a detailed Closing Day Schedule or refer to the camp calendar found at campozark.com/calendar.

TRAVEL

There are many options for traveling to and from Camp Ozark. Options from your city are available on your My Ozark dashboard.

FIRST AID

At Camp Ozark, safety is our number one priority. Camp Ozark has 2 Health Centers staffed by a medical doctor and up to 10 registered nurses. A full-service clinic is located 6 miles away in Mt. Ida. If your child becomes ill or injured while at Camp Ozark, parent(s) will be notified if the camper is seen by the camp physician, or if, at the sole discretion of the Camp Ozark Medical Staff, notification is necessary. Should medical bills be incurred, parents are fully responsible for payment.

ACTIVITY

SELECTION Each child will receive a unique, individualized morning activity schedule once they arrive at camp. This morning activity schedule is based on the camper’s preferences indicated in advance on My Ozark. All activities are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Morning activities are attended four times per week. Age and gender restrictions may apply for particular activities.

SPECIALTY AND ELECTIVE ACTIVITIES Among the various activities offered during the Morning Program, campers can also choose specialty and elective classes, if they desire. Specialty activities may require all three class periods every day for a week. Elective activities are classes that only occur once. A chosen elective class replaces the camper's otherwise regularly scheduled activity just once during whichever timeslot the given elective occurs. These specialty and elective classes will be considered as your camper’s first choice and, in a few instances, additional fees may apply.

SCHEDULE CHANGES Campers may change their schedule to HAPPYindividualize HAPPY further their experience.

Schedule changes are available on Opening Day and on Monday at Chill Out and Mish Mash. Most activities are also available for Mish Mash participation.

Camp Ozark cabins are arranged by age group and gender.

The Summit/Pines is an area set apart for older campers serviced by a separate dining facility and health center. Typical cabin arrangement is 9-12 campers with 2-3 counselors. Cabins are rustic (screen windows, screen doors, ceiling fans) and campers sleep in bunk beds.

Most younger campers use dedicated bath houses with private stalls, while middle and older campers generally have in-cabin bathrooms and showers.

CABIN ASSIGNMENTS One of the many features setting Camp Ozark apart is that cabinmate requests are allowed, but not required. Campers are assigned to cabins according to age, development, grade, and session. Requests for one or two cabinmates may be submitted via your My Ozark dashboard up to two weeks prior to the camp session. Requested cabinmates must be no more than 12 months apart in age. No more than four campers from the same school or social group will be placed in the same cabin. Camp Ozark will make an effort to accommodate mutual cabinmate requests; however, requests are not guaranteed. Final placement is at the sole discretion of the Camp Director. Camp Ozark is unable to honor cross-session cabin requests (between one and two week campers) and unable to honor tribal requests.

BIRTHDAY!

We love birthdays at Camp Ozark! Campers with birthdays while at camp are celebrated in many ways. They start their day with an announcement and celebration at the Morning Show, and their entire cabin gets a birthday bag with decorations, hats, and other fun items. The birthday boy or girl receives a Mish Mash Fast Pass and a cake at lunch to share with the cabin while the whole camp sings "Happy Birthday" to the camper! Additional birthday packages to send to your camper on their special day are available for purchase online at the Camp Ozark Store.

STORE DEPOSIT

Camp Ozark has two Camp Stores that are open up to three times a day for campers. These stores carry a robust variety of items from drinks and snacks, to camp branded merchandise, to small gifts. A deposit should be made in the camper’s store account if extra purchases are desired: $100 per week is suggested (e.g., $200 for a two week session and $100 for a one week session). The store account operates in a similar fashion to a checking account, and the unused balance is refunded.

We believe this system will teach your camper independence and assist in their development of budgeting and decision making. However, in the event your camper’s store balance falls below $25, you will be notified on the dashboard of your My Ozark account. Additional store funds can be added if you wish through your My Ozark account or by calling the camp office at 870-867-4131.

PACKING LIST

A complete list of what to bring is available on page 51. A regulation uniform is not required.

All clothing and luggage must be marked with camper's first and last name. Food, water balloons, silly string, and inappropriate clothing are prohibited in the cabin. Please refer to the website for more details on what to bring: campozark.com > For Parents > Parent Quick Facts.

DO NOT pack any prescribed or over-thecounter medication in your camper’s luggage.

Refer to the Medication Dispensation Policy on your My Ozark Dashboard for further clarification.

ALL CASH MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE OFFICE ON THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP. NO MONEY IS ALLOWED TO BE KEPT IN THE CABIN.

WAITLISTS

Waitlists are common for many camp sessions. Contact will be made immediately when spots open. If your camper is never enrolled in a session, your deposit is refundable up to the beginning of the waitlisted session.

MANDATORY CAMPER INSURANCE

All campers are required to purchase low-cost, no-fault, medical insurance. The fee for this coverage is minimal, but purchase is a requirement for enrollment at Camp Ozark. Please refer to the Camp Ozark Policy Agreement on your camper's My Ozark dashboard for further details.

RESTRICTIONS All activity, medical, and medically verifiable dietary restrictions must be submitted through My Ozark. If a restriction is required, please provide specific instructions in the online restrictions or allergies sections. We endeavor to prioritize your camper’s well-being and will try to adhere to disclosed restrictions within reason.

In addition, we will attempt to accommodate requests related to chronic medical conditions and camper health or medical issues. However, Camp Ozark cannot guarantee that all requests will be met. Each case is considered on an individual basis. All campers enrolled at Camp Ozark must comply with the Essential Eligibility Criteria of a Camp Ozark Camper (found in the Health Forms). While many camper health or medical conditions are effectively managed during the camp session, final approval for enrollment is at the sole discretion of the Camp Director. Please refer to the Camp Ozark Health section on your camper's My Ozark dashboard PAGE | 25 for further details.

CAMP VISITS

To avoid disturbing the Camp Ozark routine and program, we do not allow family and friends to visit during camp until Closing Day.

At Camp Ozark, we strive to provide campers with delicious food options, many made from scratch the same day, while recognizing the importance of balancing nutrition and healthy eating. At every meal, campers have the option to eat from the main hot food line or the alternate Market Fresh line. This line offers a healthy breakfast bar, or at lunch and dinner a robust salad bar with rotating options such as wraps, soups, pastas, make your own tacos or potatoes. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fresh fruit, and garden salads are also available during most meals. Food options are also available in the Camp Ozark Store.

Postcards from your camper and his or her counselor will be sent electronically to your My Ozark dashboard.

Turn on notifications for the Camp Ozark Go app to learn when they are available for viewing.

CELL PHONES In order to fully experience Camp Ozark, campers are not allowed to bring cell phones or other mobile communication or transmittable devices (like iPads, iPods, Apple Watches, etc.) to camp, nor are campers allowed to receive or make telephone calls, text, or email while in attendance at Camp Ozark. Parents should feel free to contact a Camp Mom if they need to discuss something related to their child or contact the camp office or Camp Director in case of an emergency.
