19 SPECIALTY

The Camp Ozark morning program is the only one of its kind in the country. Most camps host cabin group activities, but we have a personalized activity schedule for each and every camper, created by them! When accounting for age and gender, we offer over 200 different activity classes. The morning program takes place 4 days/week, Monday-Thursday, in three 40-minute-long activity periods each morning. Kids typically have the same 3 classes each morning of a given week (with two-week campers having a new set of activities in their 2nd week). This is to give campers time to finish a project, to learn a new skill, or to thoroughly explore their selected activity area. There are exceptions to this norm, because we do have some classes that meet just once or that meet only on certain days. These exceptions are called “electives” (see more info below). There’s nothing else quite like the complexity, variety, scale, and experience of Camp Ozark’s morning activity program. This time of day really is incomparable!

Do campers only get to do 3 activities each week?

No. Campers typically only do 3 morning activities each week. However, every afternoon we have a second activity time called Mish Mash. All major activity areas are open for over 2 hours every afternoon. Campers do not sign up in advance for their Mish Mash activities. Campers can experience many different activities during the same Mish Mash if they so choose.

What about wakeboarding or waterskiing?

All campers go to the lake during their session with their cabin and will be able to wakeboard and waterski during that time. No sign up required for this cabin lake time. This is a standard part of their Camp Ozark experience. However, if campers are interested in extra time out at the lake, then we have an extremely limited number of spots available in our Advanced Wakeboarding/Waterskiing class. We do not recommend this class for first year campers or for elementary school campers. This is a first come, first served class based on the order in which campers sign up for it. Advanced Wakeboarding/Waterskiing also takes up a large portion of the camper’s day and comes at an extra fee.

Yes! We offer many opportunities for campers to change their Morning Activity schedule. On Opening Day we do schedule changes in the Lodge and the Summit Chow Hall from 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM. Campers are also able to change their activities after the session has begun.

What is an elective?

Most Morning Activities meet every day, Monday-Thursday. Elective activities meet just once during the week. If you select an elective (such as Trail Ride, for example), this will replace one of your regularly scheduled activities just one time. Some electives are multiple activity periods in length (such as Float Trip or Scuba, for example).
