Everyone’s spirits were high, and thanks to so many dedicated people, we were able to serve 803 campers, 556 volunteers 108 healthcare volunteers, and 86 staff members!

Special Thank

You

to our Volunteers!

CAMP is delighted to celebrate our extraordinary young adult volunteers who dedicated more than 105,000 hours of service and healthcare professionals who dedicated more than 16,600 hours to help strengthen and inspire individuals with disabilities this summer! We truly appreciate the time spent at CAMP helping our campers have the best experience ever.

The commitment from our extraordinary volunteers made CAMP’s Summer 2023 a huge success! Volunteers are now, and will always be, the backbone that allows our programs to take place. So, it is with sincere gratitude that we THANK all our volunteers for their service to CAMP!

CAMP Spotlight on Leslie Garza

The summer of 2023 was Leslie Garza’s first time volunteering at CAMP!

After serving five weeklong sessions, she has fallen in love.

“This past summer at CAMP has truly changed my life. I never knew how much one place could impact me, and knowing that it has an even greater impact on the campers and their families is the best feeling ever!” Leslie originally decided to volunteer because she knew it would be something she’d enjoy, but she never thought it would lead to a future career goal. After her second session at CAMP, she began researching careers that serve the disability community and stumbled across Behavioral Analysis. “It sounded like the perfect fit for me! Now I am even taking some classes at school that will help me get into that career.”

Leslie said about her most memorable CAMP moment: “There are so many, but biggest would have to the first time I cried at star lighting. It was what they call my “it” week and I just never wanted it to end. I knew I was going to miss my friend so much, and the love and support from star was just what I needed.”

Awesome!

CAMP Spotlight on Mark Morales

Mark has volunteered and worked at CAMP since 2021, attending summer sessions and year-round programs.

He originally signed up for CAMP because a friend told him it would be an amazing experience to help individuals with disabilities. “When I’m at CAMP I feel like I’m at home, because since I was very young my number one goal was to make those around me happy and it’s always a blast knowing I can do that at CAMP!”

Mark’s highlight of this summer was giving the medical Mustang tribe the best time at the dance, along with an amazing week of activities.

“CAMP is the best place for anyone and everyone to create amazing friendships and the opportunity to experience the awesome activities CAMP has to offer!”

Favorite CAMP Activity: “Most definitely canoeing because I love being out in the river with my best friends looking at the beautiful nature around us.”

Fantastic!
