We’re looking for Service Managers to join our ever-expanding community, to manage Team leaders ensuring we continue to provide the highest level of care to the people we support. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring everyone is able to fulfil their potential for independent living and able to make their own life choices.

Who are we looking for?

•

You’ll probably already be a Service Manager or feel that you’re ready to progress and are looking for the opportunity to take a higher level of responsibility.

•

You’ll be ready to take responsibility for a number of Team Leaders, providing guidance, direction and support in their role

•

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that care and support is of a high standard, focused on person centered outcomes and delivered within budget

•

You’ll ensure that all needs assessments, support plans and risk assessments are kept up to date. There will also be direct engagement and liaison with social workers, family members and key workers as required

•

Someone who is also keen to help arrange local and community-based events with the people we support.

You’ll have a creative spirit and be keen to get involved or help create events e.g., coffee mornings, film clubs.

About the charity: Camphill Village Trust is an award-winning national charity supporting people with learning and other disabilities. We provide housing, care, support and day opportunities to people with learning and other difficulties. We support people to be safe, healthy, happy and to be active citizens living a life of opportunity.

About Delrow community and the service: Situated only 15 miles from the centre of London and just outside Watford, Delrow Community combines both the rural and urban and is home to 50 adults with a range of disabilities.

A fully comprehensive support package includes the choice of activities in our workshops where skills are developed, and friendships forged.

Delrow Community is made up of a mixture of house and flats, 9 of which are on the Delrow estate with the other 1 on the surrounding lane. Delrow offers support with accommodation to 50 adults with learning disabilities, as well as offering day placements to local people.

The accommodation ranges from independent flats to shared houses of between 3 and 10 people.

What background would be suitable for a Service Manager role with us?

•

You’ll ideally have a few years of previous experience of working within a social care setting supporting adults with learning disabilities.

•

Ideally, you’ll have at least one year at a supervisory level with experience of managing teams, but you may have been in an “acting-up” role or ready for the next step into management.

•

We hope you have experience of successful management of finances and budgets, but this can be taught.

•

You’ll be familiar with using IT systems to enter and record data including experience in using Excel spreadsheets.

•

You’ll have a good general education and be competent in numeracy and literacy.

•

It would be ideal if you have a level 4 NVQ in care or an equivalent qualification or higher but please don’t be put off if you haven’t. We’ll support you in your personal development

What are the key responsibilities and duties for our Service Managers?

•

To ensure staffing rotas and on-call arrangements are always adequate for the service: you will also be expected to participate in an on-call rota.

•

Assist and lead parts of the assessment and admission of new people to the service ensuring they have a contract for their care and support and all necessary funding and tenancy documentation is in place prior to admission.

•

To assist the Community to deliver and evidence service delivery standards in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

•

Involve the people we support in decisions regarding the delivery of service, including the staffing, and the service design.

•

Alongside the Team Leaders for the area, ensure that regular supervision meetings, annual reviews as well ongoing training and development are undertaken.

•

To take part in recruitment and selection processes and carry out thorough inductions for new staff.

•

Ensure that incidents, complaints, accidents, and near-misses are appropriately recorded.

Key responsibilities (continued) •

To undertake staff management such as disciplinary hearings, performance management, sickness absence and grievances, ensure that all filing and administrative processes are carried out

•

Undertake the role of ‘safeguarding co-ordinator’ within the community, with the Care and Support Manager. To bring to the immediate attention of the Care and Support Manager any concern about the well-being, safety or safeguarding of a person we support, with strict adherence to the charity’s safeguarding policy and procedures.

•

Make provision for continued own professional development, including updating of knowledge around national and local initiatives.

Your skills and knowledge •

You’ll have social care sector (adult care services for people with learning disabilities and ideally supporting people) experience

•

You’ll be a confident communicator with good verbal and written skills, who is able to manage and develop others, willing to challenge poor practice and promote development of best practice.

•
