Compass Setting Directions in Youth Development
Spring/Summer 2011
“Absolutely Incredible Kid” Has Bright Future Ahead Maria Rodriguez is set to graduate in June 2011 and is looking forward to a career as a dental hygienist. But less than six months ago, Maria was ready to walk away from high school and her diploma. She had so many truancies that the school district was ready to give up on her. But through the efforts and continued support of Camp Fire’s Step Up program, Maria is now on the right path. Maria was recognized at the May 10 Absolutely Incredible Kid Scholarship Luncheon, along with Oretha McLane, Hayden Worthington, Alexandria Reyes, Dr. Laura Power and Dr. Kimberly Nixon. Funds raised at the annual luncheon support scholarships to Camp Fire programs.
Valleau “Val” Wilkie, Jr., Executive Vice President of the Sid Richardson Foundation was presented with the Ella C. McFadden Service to Youth Award at the AIK Luncheon.
