What is Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo from Panama 2021

Sharing this be welcome. I, HapKiDo SabomNim (Teacher) Ramon Navarro 6th Dan Black Belt has 44 years of experience teaching this style of Korean martial art of self-defense called Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo in the country of Panama. This Martial Art from Korea was introduced by KwanjangNim (Founder of the system) Park Song IL 9th Dan Black Belt in October 1976 and the father of HapKiDo in the country of Panama. HapKiDo is a great subject since it’s a long theme of conversation besides being a new martial art since it was created or was given the name by DojuNim Ji HanJae in 1959. He DojuNim Ji HanJae learned DaeDong Ryu HapKi Yu Kwon Sul in 1949 with DojuNim Choi YongSul. In 1958 one of DojuNim Ji ’s first students was KwanjangNim Park SongIL whom introduced this martial art in the country of Panama in 1976. From that time until he Grand Master Park arrived to Panama and started teaching this martial art in 1976 until today and there has passed 38,000 persons and only 382 have reached black belt or higher rank that we have a 7th Dan whom is BuKwanjangNim Rolando Garcia besides being president to the Panamanian HapKiDo Association in Spanish is Asociacion Panameña de HapKiDo, two 6th Dan´s and one is me SabomNim Ramon Navarro plus many lower ranks from 5th Dan´s down to 1st Dan´s and the ones that will achieve Black Belt and God permit this project to continue growing. Our KwanjangNim Park, SongIL 9th Dan and SabomNim Ramon Navarro whom is the oldest active student to Grand Master or as we say our Teacher of Teachers, KwanjangNim Park have been developing the International Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo Federation. Since the beginning of HapKiDo back in 1945 HapKiDo it has had many names first it was called HapKi Yu Sul then HapKi Yu Kwon Sul and it had the nickname of Yawara that means Ancient JuJutsu. So in 1949 a 13 year old boy name Ji HanJae learned in his high school years while he lived in his aunt house in the city of Taegu, South Korea that had high schools and began learning under Doju Choi YongSool until he Ji HanJae finished high school and went back to his hometown Andong South Korea were he did not want to teach but learn more and had no teacher in his hometown and found a Taoist Monk named Lee that was called Lee Do-Sa wish means Taoist Monk Lee from TaeKyun and a Nun called Grandma from the art of Son Do Sul were he learned meditation and Ki development. Then he Ji Han Jae eliminated certain things he thought were not practical in TaeKyon a special kicking martial art and acrobatics plus jumps and weapons plus HapKiYuKwonSul with sword techniques so developed in a mixture of these two arts what now is known as HapKiDo. Since Ji Han Jae was born in 1936 he lived the experience of what happened in the streets of his country during and after World War II also what happened during and after the Korean War that ended in 1953 so he knew what was practical from these two arts and as mentioned before eliminated what was not practical and united what was practical and formed a system that became this new art and named it HapKiDo. It´s main style was the Sung Moo Kwan that developed into Sin Moo HapKiDo. When a HapKiDo style name uses Kwon that means that this

organization is governed into that one organization. Also He and a partner trainer from the HapKi Yu Kwon Sul from Grand Master Choi being good friends Grand Master Kim Moo Wong developed the kicks that are now known as HapKiDo that did not come from DojuNim Choi since his system had only 12 kicks and most were to the lower part of the body not as HapKiDo is known for today, well since 1959. How this came to be? Ji Han Jae would say that combining what was practical from both arts he learned it would be more an evolution from HapKiYuKwonSul and because the name to the new Japanese martial arts had in their names Do not JutSu to express what it was and this Do word symbolized the martial art had a sense of humanism and this combination had to be mentioned as neither any of the two arts that were HapKiYuKwonSul nor TaeKyun but it was more like a growth from HapKiYuKwonSul he Grand Master Ji shortened it to HapKi-Do like this HapKiDo. From this beginning this martial art has transformed in two types a pure one and a watered one and we in Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo have a pure root and what to keep it like that for the future of the best in the art for next generations. From the beginning of what DojuNim Ji Han Jae came up with it is said that there are 3,800 techniques that can become 10,000 because of the variations besides many different kicks that are more than 100 in this martial art. Even today in Korea can be seen what DojuNim Choi thought was not more than 12 kicks and 100 techniques. I do not say this to downgrade what DojuNim Choi tought in his art the HapKi Yu Kwon Sul but let´s say that this evolution from DojuNim Ji created the first generation of what is HapKiDo now. It is like a person that bought o made a stand and started selling Hamburgers and his kids ended up making a franchise that has expanded worldwide but some in the 4th and 5th generation have begun downgrading this beautiful art and this should not be permitted. HapKiDo was made so the student when reached Master or teacher level let’s say 6th or 7th Dan and wanted to develop his own style it is possible. This is because this martial art can be made personal. Grand Master or KwanjangNim Park, SongIL 9th Dan brought his own style to the country of Panama in 1976 and it is named Song Moo Kwan HapKiDo and it means in its expressive translation like this: Song represents Nature and it gives life because it comes out of water and life is prolonged and progresses the trees clean up the environment with pure oxygen with pure oxygen and for us in Song Moo HapKiDo the tree that represents the Kwan or style is the Pine Tree because it is the only tree that never changes any of its nature as the seasons go by and its leafs do not change color nor its essence; it is always progressive. Moo represent the martial art. Kwan is the school style, school or family of HapKiDo that means Hap means harmony, coordinated or union. Ki is energy of life, power or internal force witch is not the same as muscular force. Do as art, path or way to follow so it all would be The Natural Martial School of HapKiDo. I, SabomNim Ramon Navarro 6th Dan Black belt with more than 44 years of teaching experience teaching this martial art HapKiDo is considered assistant to Grang Master or KwanjangNim Park SongIL and I have proposed to form the International Song Moo HapKiDo Federation finishing this Pandemic crisis I will travel to some countries in North, Central and South America so if anyone is interested in participating in this project we the Song Moo Kwan will be giving full backup can contact me at the WhatsApp +50767808222 o al WhatsApp +50766690927 de la Academia de HapKiDo Song Moo Kwan Panamá.
