A Note to Parents
Welcome to MY VISIT TO THE PHILIPPINES - a seek-and-find travel guide that will stretch your children’s power of observation and create hours of fun while you and your kids explore the Philippines.
The book was designed for Heritage Language Learners to practice Filipino words in an interactive and engaging way.
There is so much to do! Point out objects, places, people, and things in Filipino, go on a mission to find, color, and say everything listed in the book, and most importantly, have fun as a family while you travel!
We hope you and your family enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making it for you.

IsyourchildaHeritage LanguageLearner?
Heritage Language Learners are exposed to their heritage language in childhood but may not learn it fully because of another dominant language. They also have a strong cultural connection to this language through family interaction. (Polinsky & Kagan, 2007)

Payong
The Philippines gets about 20 typhoons (tropical cyclones) in a year. If you are there during a typhoon, it's best to stay indoors, make sure you are away from floodprone areas and have an emergency bag ready.
What do I eat?
Fork&Spoon
Filipino food has a lot of sauce. Dishes can be cooked in a sauce or served with a dipping sauce. That's why it's easier to eat with a fork and spoon. If you really want to eat like a native, do "Kamayan" and eat with your hands.
