AGGIE MADNESS enjoy practice. We enjoy seeing growth every day … but we’re certainly excited [for the season].” According to Webb, the team has three goals each year. “Number one goal is you want to make the commerce tournament,” he said. “Number two is you want to win the conference, and if you do that – if we’re blessed enough to do that – then the third thing would be the NCAA tournament. “Last year, we made two of three of those goals. We went to the conference tournament, and then we went to the NCAA tournament, and we’d like to grow upon that.” Communication major Cristina Soriano, a junior in athletics and senior in academics, is the point guard of the women’s basketball team. Soriano said it was her dream to come to America from Barcelona, Spain, to play basketball. “I enjoy it so much,” she said. “I’ve been playing basketball since I was five or six, so I think it’s in my veins. I cannot think about spending a day without basketball.” Soriano said she believes the team has improved since last year. “We’re practicing so hard, for real,” she said. “My goal is to win the championship.” According to Soriano, she and her team members love to see fans fill the stands at games. “We play with five on the court, so they [fans] are the sixth player. I think it’s awesome.” Likewise, Webb appreciates the support the team receives from both Cameron and the Lawton community. “We’ve been real blessed,” he said. “This community is great. The campus is great, [as well as] the president and the athletic director. They’re all very supportive. “I think everyone cares. I absolutely love going to watch baseball and softball play and tennis and volleyball. We bring our family to those things, and they come to ours. It just is one big family, and I think that’s really cool.”

At 6 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the Aggie Gym, students and community members joined the Cameron men’s and women’s basketball teams, the Spirit Team and Ole Kim at Aggie Madness to pump up the Black and Gold pride. Cameron women’s basketball head coach Tom Webb said the purpose of Aggie Madness is to connect the community and students with the basketball teams. “They get to see our new players [and] our returners,” Webb said. Students also received the opportunity to enjoy free pizza and t-shirts, games and prizes. Webb said the prizes given to students totalled about $3,000. “People get flat-screen TVs, the iPods, the iPads,” he said. “It’s a real good time.” Webb said the activities in which students participated include a men’s slam-dunk contest, a three-point contest and a dance contest, which is his favorite.

We’ve actually reached out to elementary schools and invited them to come. It’ll be a really good game.” Webb said whether it’s a game or a regular practice, he and the coaches just enjoy watching the “It’s fun to see people laugh and have fun and be excited for players improve. “I’m sure the team is more excited the season,” Webb said. “The dance contest is probably the about playing some real basketball as most enjoyable. far as game-wise,” he said. “As coaches, we “It [dance contest] gets the young men and the young
