In order to receive the $40 deal, students must meet the criteria of having no vision insurance, and having minimal income; otherwise, different cash discounts are offered to students, for contacts and other services, Shegog said. “It’s for students who really who really need [glasses] and don’t have the ability to pay for it,” she said. “They also gave us a discount in case a student has a wound to the eye that needs medical evaluation.” Students are encouraged to stop by the SWC to book an MCTCampus appointment with an optometrist. In addition to the vision discounts, the SWC also has an oral agreement with a Lawton dentist for discounted services to students. “If a student needs to be examined, X-rays and all, it’s $40,” Shegog said. “We always have students that come see the medical provider for teeth problems, and we tell them we don’t have a dentist here, but we can send you out to someone that’s going to give you a discount.” The Imaging Center of Lawton also provides cash discounts to students without insurance, and for those unable to pay, a payment plan can be set up.
