The Prototype 11. Not The End 12. Warmth Of Hope 13. Chaos Architect 14. Indestructible Before this album will be released Julie announced that she will quite because of personal issues.

This does not affect the release or the release date at all, but it makes the future not so sure.

To review this album is with mixed feelings because it is the last album with Julie as singer in the band.

Before we start to listen to this album, we think about what it will sound, and we start to think of bands like Epica or Nightwish. When we listen to the intro of the record it is very clear we got it wrong. The style that we hear is more like Ayreon and we think about the album Into The Electric Castle. Directly after the intro we get an idea how the album will sound and that is because of the song The Human Race Extinction.

Overall with a total of 14 songs this album it shows plenty that this Belgium band is not a little fish in the pond. We are looking forward to knowing who the new female singer in the band soon will be.

For the remaining show the turn their hope on 2 guest vocalists and they are MAGGY LUYTEN (NIGHTMARE, Ayreon) and Kelly Sundown II (Civil War (the band), ADAGIO).

Until the next chapter of the band we can listen to this masterpiece of an album.

Mark Bogart Band

Tony MacAlpine and Band Boerderij in Zoetermeer, 16 October 2018.

On this evening we do not have to expect any singers because these 2 bands do not got vocals in the band and they let the music sing. The support act of this evening is Mark Bogart and he take band members with him from the band Knight Area.

As the band gets into the show the music gets more and more interesting. We even get a moment to get a moment where we think it sounds like Joe Satriani. During the show Mark shows a lot of tricks how to play the guitar.

The bass sound is very deep but very good. When it is time to introduce the band, it is time for some joke about the ages of the band members because some are young, and some are a little older.

Then it is time for the headliner of the evening Tony MacAlpine. Many years ago, we saw Tony for the last time and then it was with the band Planet X. That life not always goes perfect knows Tony very well because he first must win the battle against cancer and then making a new album. For this tour he brings with him Stu Hamm (Bass) and Gergo Borlai (Drums). This tour is to promote his new album ‘Death of Roses’.

The only minus point of the concert is that Tony stands in the band for most of the songs and that is because he is not only playing the guitar but also keyboard.

Stu is the only band members who is standing the whole concert in the front of the stage.

This is concert 15 of the total tour of 31 dates in Europe. For a Tuesday evening it is busy in the hall. Tony makes sure that everybody is enjoying his music from a till z.

Tony is back and that is something he like to show everybody. For many it is hard to believe that only 3 bandmembers can play like there are more people on the stage.

It is the hope that Tony will come soon again to play a concert in Holland or to return with a new album. We even hope that one day he will join the G3 again with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.

King King

Europe 013 - Tilburg, 26 September 2018. Before we can see how Europe Rock the night at the 013 in Tilburg we first will see the band King King from Scotland. The style of music they play for us is blues rock and we are surprised that this band is playing the support for Europe.

Like with most of the support bands they play for a hall that is not full, but this band is doing everything to make sure the crowd is enjoying the show and to be warmed up for Europe.

From the moment they get on stage until the last song they keep the mood to be very funny and play like it is the last show ever. The lead vocals are in the hand of Alan and he is dressed in a kilt and he is making jokes with the crowd. The backing vocals are in the hand of 2 members Wayne(drums) and Jonny(organ/piano).

Then it is time to clear the stage and to prepare the stage for Europe. Lights go off and then it is showtime and one for one the members entre the stage. This tour is to promote the new album of Europe and it is named ‘Walk the Earth World tour’ and is to promote the new album ‘Walk the Earth’. This band needs no introduction.

And with a setlist of 20 songs from 7 studio albums there is for every fan a song they like to hear.

Joey Tempest is a good frontman and he is making a lot interaction with the crowd but also with his bandmembers. The sound of the music is good, and they got a very good lightshow. The band is already busy as the band Europe from 1979 and with this formation from 1984 and as we can see they are still not ready to stop.

Setlist of the evening 1.Walk the Earth 2.The Siege 3.Rock the Night (with snippet of "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder) 4.Hole in My Pocket Prelude 5.Last Look at Eden 6.Pictures 7.Firebox 8.Ready or Not 9.Turn to Dust 10.

Carthagods

Elyose MaYan (Dutch Dhyana release show) De Helling, Utrecht, 22/ 09/ 2018.

Before we entre the hall for the show we got an interview with Justine of Elyose. You can read more about this interview in next issue. Waiting outside the stage doors we see the soundcheck of the first band of the evening. Doors are open and now we wait for the first band of 3 of the evening. The first band is Carthagods and 4 band members are from Tunisia. They got a guest guitar player and that is Timo Somers (Delain). They play a mix of different styles rock and metal bands like Judas Priest but also like Dream Theater. It sounds very good and they know to get the crowd to join them during the show.

It is the second show in The Netherlands for this band.

Very good start for a concert evening with a good lightshow and perfect sound.

But as soon as they started the show the end is also very soon. Then it is time to get ready for the second band of the evening is Elyose from France. We saw this band at two other shows and because of the interview we had earlier this evening with Justine we know more about the show. The setlist of the evening is a mix of all the released albums and from the upcoming album Reconnexion.

Psychosis the song from the new album is also on the setlist but Mark Jansen will not do the grunts during the show.

The grunts during this song and some other songs are done by Flo Lemonnier. There is only one thing that we find and that is Justine is not good in the mix and sometimes her singing is not so good to hear in this mix. The music is very strong and done by 3 excellent musicians namely on guitar Marc, on bass Ghislain and on drums Pat.

During the concert we hear keyboard but that is a back tape. Like all other concerts the end is always sooner than we expect and that is also for this concert. It is time to clear the stage and make place for the headliner of the evening. This band needs no introduction at all. It is MaYan from The Netherlands and this concert is the release show of the new album ‘Dhyana’. That it will be a special evening is sure.

The stage is a little to small for the number of musicians in the band.

They got a guest for this evening and that is cellist Elianne Anemaat. Henning Base was also present the whole evening and was together with Adam Denlinger dealing the clean vocals. Marcela and Lauri stand often together in the spotlight and later together in the back next to each other to give space for the other singers. The interaction between all the band members is super.

The setlist is for the first 11 songs the new album and the crowd loved every song of it.

A small stage got also something positive and that is the crowd can see Jack Driessen (Keyboard) and Arien van Weesenbeek (drums).

During this concert the guitar parts are played by Jack Driessen and Arjan Rijnen (back up for Merel).

On the bass guitar it is Roel Kaller and he is doning his job on a fretless bass.

After the 11 brand new songs from the new album it is time for another surprise and that is Merel Bechtold is joining on stage to play the rest of the songs together with the band.

This release party is really a party and we know the people that are not by this concert will be sorry they missed this concert.

People that missed the concert here are some new Dutch dates to see MaYan in The Netherlands:
