CAMDEN HIGH STREET
HIGHSTREET SOUTH
We are working with TfL on plans to widen pavements on High Street South, creating a more pedestrianfriendly, less congested environment. We’re lobbying to include nearby alleyways for repaving, boosting connectivity and unlocking opportunities for greening, art, and play.
TRACKINGTHE HERITAGE
Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Tracking the Heritage celebrates Camden Town’s cultural past through school workshops, walking tours, and new heritage signage forming a public trail that charts Camden’s journey from industrial hub to creative heart of London.
We aim to complete our Make an Entrance projects early in the BID term, featuring wayfinding with iconic infrastructure, creative lighting, greening, and public art.
The trial pedestrianisation of Camden High Street runs until September 2026. If made permanent, we will work with TfL and Camden Council to maximise its transformative benefits for the business community.
The Camden Highline represents a bold vision for Camden Town, transforming a disused railway viaduct into an elevated park and walking route.
The design has been undertaken by Field Operations, the same world-class design team as the NewYork High Line Feasibility works, design and planning consent is complete, and fundraising is progressing in earnest, with delivery expected in the upcoming BID term.

Camden Collective turns vacant buildings into free workspaces for creative start-ups. Since 2009, it has occupied 19 sites and now supports 319 businesses, and 611 people from its Buck Street hub.
The model is self-sustaining. As members grow they pay for subsidised space, which funds free access for early-stage businesses, giving these outputs at no cost to BID members.

Now in its fourth year, Inspire is a cornerstone of the neighbourhood’s cultural offer It is a communitypowered celebration, delivered each year in collaboration with creative powerhouses such as Roundhouse, KOKO, London School of Mosaic, WorkingMen’s College and Spiritual Bar. At its core, the festival is about opening the doors of Camden’s creative institutions and embedding closer connections between the cultural sector and local communities.
The event evolves under the stewardship of local young people, small businesses and creatives With a current focus on the environment, it continues to bring both communities and businesses together around future-looking conversations, through a creative lens.

GOVERNANCE
The Governing Arrangement
The current Camden Town Centre Ltd Board of Directors lead and guide the work of Camden Town Unlimited and have been elected from a variety of sectors, both private and public partners, to offer a wide range of skills, experience, and balanced opinion. In the event of a successful ballot they shall oversee the delivery of the 2026- 2031 BID proposal for CTU. Likewise, the Board of Directors of Euston Town BID will lead and guide their work.
Financial Decisions
We will continue to use the Board and members’ expertise to determine how best to spend our budget year-on-year. The elected board shall review the BID’s threshold to roughly maintain its current membership numbers if deemed necessary midterm. BID levy shall only be applicable upon assets to the extent they are within the BID boundary held by a hereditament. The 2023 rating list will be used to calculate the individual levy charges for each liable ratepayer. If a new ratings list is introduced during the BID term, at the board's discretion this will be used to calculate the levy charges from its date of introduction
Fair & Transparent
All BID members are eligible for a seat on the Board, and elections are held ahead of our AGM every year, where 33% of the seats are automatically available. Please contact us if you wish to be considered for a seat on the board.
The Management
The award-winning team at Camden Town Centre Limited will deliver the projects and services outlined in the proposal, with the support of specialist advisors. The Camden Town Unlimited team will also be the management team for Euston Town and support the Euston Town BID.
Please visit www.camdentownunlimited.com for more details on CTU’s BID arrangements.
FINANCE
In this ballot, any business with a rateable value of over £120,000 is able to vote, and in the event of the BID being voted in, will be liable to pay 1%* of their rateable value on top of business rates. Registered charities will receive a discount of 80%, in line with Camden Council’s business rates relief.
As we saw in previous BID terms, the success of the BID was in its ability to react quickly to changing conditions to overcome the most serious threats to the town centre. Ensuring our business environment remains safe, clean and fully functional remains our top priority. This is at the heart of what we do and in these times of uncertainty will require greater advocacy and management. We will maintain flexibility in this budget to make sure we deliver the optimum return for your money. We will continue to use the Board and members’ expertise to determine how best to spend our budget year on year. We always work to leverage our income, using it as match funding to unlock additional money to maximise our impact in the town centre.
The levy will be collected with your usual business rates by the local authority (Camden Council). We pledge to be entirely transparent about the income and expenditure of the levy. There will be regular updates available to all members.
The BID will last for 5 years, at which point another ballot could take place to extend the BID’s existence.
We estimate we will receive around £3.2 million between 2026 –2031.We will invest it in the following suggested proportions:
* BID levy increases with inflation, with the figure determined by the Board on an annual basis but restricted to RPI+1% 25
WHAT IS A BID?
Camden Town Unlimited is the elected representative of businesses within Camden.
Our mission is a simple one: enhance the commercial environment for local businesses and make Camden a place that people not only want to visit, but a place they want to stay.
As the Business Improvement District (BID) for Camden Town, we deliver and campaign for a range of projects and policies to benefit the local area. We lead ambitious regeneration and public realm projects, and lobby at a local and national level on behalf of our members to shape the decisions that affect the future of our neighbourhoods.
Whilst most of the business rates collected by Central Government are distributed elsewhere in the country, the BID levy represents just 1% of these rates and is 100% ringfenced for Camden Town. This money cannot be spent subsidising existing services but must be additional to those provided by the local authority and other statutory bodies. You will not be paying for Council services.
A BID term can last for a maximum of five years, after which it can only remain in existence if it is approved by the members at a renewal ballot.
Camden Town Centre Ltd, Company Number 05453570 is the renewal proposer and the legal entity that runs the BID activities in the existing area around Camden Town and, pending a successful ballot, would continue to do so for the existing area. CTU is also the management company for Euston Town BID, which is a key strategic partner with shared interests pending a separate successful ballot, which is being run separately but simultaneously and will continue to be the management company for Euston Town’s BID activities. In the event that one of the ballots is unsuccessful, Camden Town Centre Ltd will continue to run activities in either successful area (Camden Town BID or the Euston Town BID).
