Student Government Student Government Members wish you a Happy 2014 New Year! On behalf of our membership we wish everyone a wonderful New Year filled with hope and promise! Our members include: Logan Borntreger, Austin Farrow, Sam Lamar, Brooklyn Tavernaro, Charlie Schilb, Austin Lane, Lela Boone, Teagan Loehr, Jackson Borntreger, Miller Bresette, Nathan Dertinger, Luke Mittelsadt, Aidan Parker, Aubreigh Broockerd, Delano Hibdon & Jordyn Loehr. One of our recent missions has been to collect food to donate to needy families. Our Cambridge families have been very generous. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Canned Food Drive The student government teamed up with Cambridge PTA to host the school's annual canned food drive. The food was donated to six needy families in Belton and the remaining items were donated to West Central Community Action Agency Network and South Haven Baptist Church. The drive began on Dec. 2; however, the student government decided they could increase the Cambridge support by challenging classrooms to bring more items. As an incentive, the classroom with the most canned food received a hot chocolate party. The new incentive created a big boost, with the student body bringing in over 500 non-perishable items this week!!

Students Prepare for Bone Test Second through fourth grade P.E. students are busy preparing to put their knowledge of bones to the test. Each class has been learning a 'Bone of the Day' since school began in August. Having a strong knowledge of the bones directly relates to the understanding how the body works and what parts are being used during exercise. After Winter Break, the students will begin to learn about muscles and build an understanding of how the skeletal and muscular system work together to produce movement of our bodies. With plenty of eating to come over the holidays, PE teacher Robbie Corder would like to challenge students and parents to get out and be active at least three days a week. "Having 45 to 60 minutes of exercise at least three days a week can help prevent some of the pounds that are easy to put on with all the delicious meals to come," he said. "Eating smaller portions with five meals a day can actually benefit as well by increasing metabolism in the body. I know it can be challenging once the weather gets cold, but stay motivated and continue to work hard for a healthy lifestyle."
