Lower School is the equivalent to Key Stage 3 Students are taught in a vertical system whereby age is not defining ability and progression It brings a sense of inspiration and motivation within the friendly atmosphere for the students, where ideas are shared in live lessons and student groups Many of our lower school students will progress into level 2 art and design
During the Spring Term, students had the chance to learn about this artist, their life and analyse their work

Students produced their own interpretation developing ideas through trials of drawing musical instruments images zoomed in, producing tonal studies, followed by colour studies, and also developing their own Braque inspired colour palettes They went onto drawing objects and cutting them up to create a new composition. Final studies comprised of applying the Braque style to a drawing of a chose object (choice of; car, trainer, lamp, chair, umbrella).

We think they did a superb job and expanded their growing portfolio whilst developing their creativity and ideas, developed a critical understanding of an historical artist, as well as learning how to express reasoned judgements that can inform their own work. Well done to all who took part!
