TASK 04 - STILL LIFE
Still Life is a fundamental skill, thats underpins all the work that comes after understanding it Level 2 students work on planning reference imagery, planning and mark making, editing and sharpening details, before taking on their chosen final composition

Whilst not all students need to refine these skills and become a photorealist, they do get encouraged to focus some time on tonal range and sketching Using a range of graphite pencils they begin with understanding graphite media and the effects that it can create in drawing.

They take these skills into colour work later on, but taking away colour early on in an artist development, gets them to focus on the universal forms, and how light and shadow can be used to great effect.
With some planning, students produce an outcome which varies in its context and purpose, but all underpin the key formal elements we need when learning to be an artist.
