Conducted by the acclaimed young conductor Nicolas Collon, this concert also sees Julian Lloyd Webber making his final appearance as Corn Exchange Artist in Residence, with an impassioned performance of Elgar’s haunting Cello Concerto. The evening ends with Vaughan Williams’ elegiac Symphony No. 3, written in response to his experiences in the First World War, with celebrated soprano Sally Harrison ending this year’s series on a poignant, ethereal note.
