Year 12 Formal Last Saturday night the Year 12 Formal took place at ‘Leonda by the Yarra’. As always, the evening was a highlight of the School year, especially for the students and their partners. It was a perfect venue where we were able to relax and share a very enjoyable meal and evening with our senior students. It was also very pleasing to see so many staff attend the event to support the students. The boys managed the occasion with aplomb and proved to be outstanding hosts to their guests and were most respectful of the teachers who were there on the night. I am very grateful to Ms Jan Sangster, who did an enormous amount of work to ensure such a successful night.
Year 10 BODi Day Year 10 boys will be involved in a By Our Deeds Inquiry (BODi) Day next Wednesday. The BODi Days are becoming a key component of our wellbeing program and are also run at Years 7 and 11. The Year 10 boys will be involved in two workshops on the day, ‘Show Some Respect’ and ‘Breaking the Man Code’. It promises to be a powerful and thought-provoking day for the boys. Please contact your son’s Head of House if you would like more information about the day.
Premier’s VCE Awards 2018 On Monday 3 June, Mrs Suzanne Jack and Ms Katrina Massey attended the 2018 Premier’s VCE Awards Ceremony at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. This is an annual event that recognises the outstanding results of VCE students of the previous year. Congratulations to the following students from Camberwell Grammar School who received a Premier’s VCE Award for their 2018 studies: • Jake Brown (Biology) • Oliver Papillo (Global Politics) Results such as these reflect very positively on the efforts made by students and teachers, not just in the VCE years but in all years of schooling. The Premier’s VCE Awards Ceremony not only acknowledges the outstanding results of individual students but also pays tribute to teachers and parents who play an invaluable role in supporting and encouraging students during the VCE studies.
Examinations All of our students have now completed their major assessments and examinations for this semester, including our Year 12 students, who sat the GAT examination. I hope that our students enjoyed these opportunities to display their learning and also to discover areas for their own improvement. Next Tuesday 25 June, Semester 2 officially begins, and changes to units and teachers will occur during that week.
After-School French DELF Preparation Courses Term 3 - Enrolment Date Extended The Alliance Française de Melbourne will run a preparation course for the internationally recognised DELF Junior/Scolaire French examination (Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française) next term at Camberwell Grammar School. The Diploma is aimed at secondary school students who learn French as a foreign language. It evaluates a student’s ability to communicate in French and comprises four sections: listening and reading comprehension, writing and speaking. There are four basic levels of achievement, from A1, A2 (basic-level users) and B1, B2 (independent users), with the B2 level enabling students to access schools and universities in France and Francophone countries. The results are valid for life and are an asset to one’s personal resume. For further information about the DELF diplomas, click here. The course will run on Tuesdays from 3.45pm to 5.15pm at Camberwell Grammar School for 10 weeks.
