Year 5 Leadership Executive

Year 5 students in the Junior School have been creating posters and writing speeches as part of their campaign to be elected on the Leadership Executive: an elected group of boys who lead the Junior School in fundraising for community organisations and implement school wide programs to promote the School’s values, friendships, house spirit, and sustainability.

In their speeches and posters, boys were to outline their key character traits, important skills and talents they possess, highlight past experiences as a leader, and explain their vision for 2021 and how they can improve the Junior School. Throughout Term 1, boys have been learning how to construct persuasive texts through the use of high modality words, emotive language, figurative language, inclusive pronouns and evidence to support their point of view. The speeches are an opportunity for boys to develop and extend their oral presentation skills, including their use of eye contact, volume, pronunciation, expression and inflection, body language and props.

VOTE LIN FOR LEADERSHIP! My name is Evan Lin. I am a candidate for Leadership Executive. You may ask yourself why you should vote for me, well I believe I am the right person for Leadership Executive because I LISTEN and I CARE. So make sure you VOTE LIN FOR LEADERSHIP! Leadership is not about just having fun, it is about helping others and giving back whether it is inside or outside of the school. One of my goals is to help out the cold and disadvantaged people on the streets. I want to set up a fundraiser for a charity called 300 Blankets. This charity focuses on providing shelter, food and blankets to disadvantaged people in Melbourne. I will create a day where you bring in a gold coin donation. Also, on the same day, you will bring in your blanket so you can watch a movie in the M&M centre. Every dollar will help the disadvantaged. Don’t you want to help the ones in need? Evan Lin, 5B Hello, my name is Zak and I’m running for leadership executive. I’m an excellent listener, kind and helpful. I want to organise a tennis day and run a coding club in 2021. My coach tells me that my forehand is full of kindness, my backhand down the line is full of helpfulness and my most important asset is my volley full of brilliant ideas. Now I’m the one for all of that so all you have to do is vote for me Zak Huq. My first amazing trait is kindness. When people are alone, I go and play with them and when they feel better they go and play with everyone. This trait is important because the school would be very cruel and sad when no one is showing kindness. Do you want a kind person for leadership executive? Well then vote for Zak the hero.

Zak Huq, 5B
