You are about to embark on The Greatest Treasure Hunt in the Pacific Northwest! This event is brought to you by the Camano Island Chamber of Commerce and the business communities of Stanwood and Camano Island, Washington. Made possible in part by assistance from the Snohomish & Island County Hotel-Motel Tax Fund and from our 2023 Sponsors.
The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce invites you to join in the fun as we celebrate the 14th Annual Northwest Glass Quest. As you embark on this treasure hunt you become a “Quester” - on a quest to go home with a beautiful hand-blown glass treasure. This Guide Book contains everything you need to successfully complete your Quest including maps of participating locations, tips and rules, and advertisements from our business community. Please read the Rules & Guidelines prior to embarking on your Quest.
As you Quest for a Limited Edition Glass Treasure blown by Mark and Marcus Ellinger, we invite you to explore all that the Stanwood-Camano community has to offer. The stunning views of the snow-capped mountain peaks of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains provide a backdrop of absolute beauty. Walk our quiet winter beaches where the wildlife is abundant and views of the Puget Sound and Saratoga Passage will not disappoint. Visit our quaint locally owned shops and restaurants, hike the trails, and you will discover a community with rich heritage, a vibrant arts scene and outstanding natural surroundings.
Thank you for participating in this unique event and exploring the StanwoodCamano community - the treasure awaits you!
Don’t forget to “Check-In” with us Online (camanoisland.org/glass-quest-checkin-2023/) each day of your Quest - each day we will choose one “check-in” to be awarded a Glass Quest ball. We will also draw Check-In entries on St. Patrick’s Day for additional balls - this replaces the Passport for 2023.
Your quest is to locate a “Clue Ball” either in a participating business or community site. A Clue Ball is a hollow, clear, 3-inch plastic ball. However not all clue balls look the same - they can be camouflaged with paint, texture, or decorations so keep your eyes peeled. All 2023 clue balls will have a specific piece of paper inside directing you where to go to claim your treasure.
Your treasure is a LIMITED Edition Glass Quest Ball–a hand-blown glass float by Mark and Marcus Ellinger. Each limited edition Northwest Glass Ball is stamped with the 14th anniversary logo, signed by the artists, marked with a unique number and has a certificate of authenticity. This year there are over 430 LIMITED Edition Glass Quest Balls! Find joy in the thrill of the huntfinding a clue ball is not guaranteed - or it wouldn’t be much of a hunt!
Determine where to go - start with the maps & listings in this booklet or download the App and decide where to start your Quest. Pay attention to days and hours of participating businesses and whether they are hiding in COMMUNITY SITES or AT THEIR BUSINESS. In the event of inclement weather some locations may close - check the website for updates.
Embrace the Thrill of the Hunt - all host businesses have sworn a solemn oath to secrecy - do not ask “is a clue ball hidden today?” or “has it been found yet?” Some businesses may provide a clue - but this is not required.
Photo ID will be required to claim a Glass Ball. Parents may provide ID for minors.
Use your manners - respect the business owners who are conducting normal business during the Quest - say thank you and shop while you quest!
Pay attention to “No Questing Beyond This Point” signs and restricted areas.
In the parks and community sites please stay on the trails and do not hit or rake the vegetation. Both State Parks are participating this year with the understanding that trails and vegetation will be respected - NO STICKS are allowed in any community sites.
Be a Kind Quester - New for 2023 - check out the different ways you can be a KIND QUESTER and engage with our community. This is fun for kids and adults alike - and we have prizes to give away. See pgs. 34-35 for details.
Clue Balls are elusive! They may be camouflaged, but they can ALWAYS be found using your eyes only. Look high and low, but you should never have to move merchandise or displays to find a clue ball. If you spot one that you can’t reach - just ask your host for help.
One per person - please limit yourself to claiming ONE Glass Quest Treasure for the year so others can find them as well.
Check-In Daily Online - check in online and you will be entered into our daily raffle for a glass ball. The check in online replaces the passport from previous years. In addition, show your GQ app to a businesses selling Non-Certificated Balls to receive a discount.
Have Fun! Remember this is a “treasure hunt” so enjoy the thrill of the hunt. While finding a clue ball is challenging and reserved for the lucky - with the right mindset you can find many other “treasurers” on your hunt.
The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce is proud to plan this event every year. Visit us at the Glass Quest Headquarters at The Camano Center (606 Arrowhead Road) from 10AM-4PM daily during the event.

The maps included in these pages are to help you on your Quest, locate participating businesses as well as community sites and parks where clue balls can be found.
Daily updates for clue balls remaining in parks will be on our website and the App for the following locations only: Church Creek, Freedom Park, Heritage Park, and Kayak, Lake Goodwin, Wenberg. The daily update does NOT include clue balls hidden by businesses in the parks! Updates will be posted ONCE by 5:30 PM each day of the Quest. Please pay attention to business hours and park regulations. Some parks may require an entry fee. The Camano Island State Parks ARE participating in the event again in 2023.
You can also download the App with links to Google Maps to streamline your Quest!
Please respect the boundaries and rules for the parks - we ask that you do not disturb wildlife or vegetation in any form. NO STICKS of ANY FORM are to be used to poke or disturb vegetation. Clue balls should be able to be seen with your eyes only and within reach of all trails. While you are visiting our parks we encourage you to bring a bag and pick up litter you may find on your adventure - help us keep our parks clean and healthy.
While you are on your quest for treasure there are multiple opportunities to be a KIND Quester and engage with our community in a positive fashion. Picking up trash, learning about local history, purchasing locally made art are just some of the ways you can be a KIND Quester. See pgs. 34 and 35 for more details.
Clue balls are hidden on highlighted trails and are within arm’s reach of the trail. At Camano Island State Park, they can also be hidden on highlighted beach areas. They are NOT near any buildings. Please do NOT disturb any tree stumps or vegetation and do NOT go off trail. You need only your eyes to look, do NOT use sticks or trekking poles. Happy Questing

During the 2023 event we encourage you to engage with our community and surroundings as a KIND QUESTER . During the past year The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Whidbey And Camano Islands Tourism has been participating in a program called Regenerative Tourism - a holistic approach to tourism recognizing the wellbeing of our entire ecosystem.

We invite you to become a KIND QUESTER . The spirit of The Northwest Glass Quest event is much more than finding a coveted clue ball to win a glass ball. It is about connecting with the beautiful natural surroundings in the Stanwood-Camano area, supporting our local independent businesses, and engaging in a meaningful way with our community and the new friends you will make on your quest. The treasure to be found is more than just a glass ball!
Here are some ideas of how you can participate as a KIND QUESTER during the 2023 event. Anyone who completes 6 of the 12 suggestions below will have the opportunity to win a 2023 Glass Quest “button”. We have 100 glass buttons made with the 2023 event stamp and will give away 10 buttons each day of the event.
As you complete items on this list you can check them off (or have a member at the location initial for you). Hand in your completed form to the GQ Headquarters (The Camano Center 606 Arrowhead Rd. Camano) during the event between 10AM-4PM to be entered to win. In addition, each completed form will also be added to the drawing for a glass ball on St. Patrick’s Day 2023.
A printable version of the KIND QUESTER form can be found here or pick up a copy at the GQ Headquarters, Cama Beach Welcome Center, Kayak Point Ranger Station, or from our event sponsors - Coastal Community Bank, Windermere Stanwood Camano, RE/MAX Elevate, Stanwood Camano News, NW Plus Credit Union or the City of Stanwood.

The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce offers this event to the public (for free!) with the intention of showcasing our beautiful area, increasing sales in local businesses during the typically slow off season, and to give us all something fun to look forward to every February. We kindly ask that you abide by the spirit of the event - by understanding and agreeing to the following:
• The event is a TREASURE HUNT - the lucky few (well 430+ of you) will win a glass ball - this is not a guarantee.
• Keep an eye out for unanticipated “treasurers” (Think: soaring eagle overhead, the perfect gift at a store, meeting new friends…)
• It is FEBRUARY in the Pacific Northwest which means the weather could be beautiful or raining sideways or even snowing. Come prepared and check the website for inclement weather which may cause closures.
• The person who finds the clueball wins the glass ball. Do not claim for others.
• Photo ID will be required to claim a glass ball. Parents or adults may provide adult for minors.
• You may only find ONE CLUEBALL per year - this keeps it fun for others.
• Respect your surroundings. In the parks and in the stores. Stay on the trail and do not disturb vegetation in any way. NO STICKS of any kind.
• New for 2023 - participate in our KIND Quester challenge!
• If you have questions or concerns please contact the Chamber by email or phone and please do not turn to social media (which is challenging for us to moderate during the event)
• BE KIND to each other and HAVE FUN.

We would like to sincerely thank our many participating businesses and sponsors for their contribution and dedication to this event. We hope you find many treasurers on your 2023 quest!
Sincerely,
There would not be the “Thrill of the Hunt” if the clue balls were easy to find! Fear not - you do not have to go home empty handed, there are a few different options for going home with “treasure”. Please note Non-Certificated Balls for sale are available AS SUPPLIES LAST.
Show the Glass Quest App and receive a Quester discount to purchase NonCertificated Balls at various businesses. Many participating businesses have a wide variety of Non-Certificated Balls for sale during the event - just ask the host business for details. You may purchase an UNLIMITED 2023 Glass Ball for $60 by showing the app or $70 without. (Discount to be limited for use on one ball.)
You may check-in Online every day you are questing (camanoisland.org/glassquest-check-in-2023/) to be entered into a chance to win a LIMITED EDITION glass ball from the organizers of the event–The Camano Chamber of Commerce. One entry per questing group per day. There will be a new winner every day for the 10 days of the event. Winners will be contacted by email or phone.
