The Mission In order to achieve the vision, our church must operate within certain guiding principles. The Bible describes the Five-Fold Ministry that should be evident in each church in order to equip the saints, to do effective work in the ministry and to build up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12-13).

The Five-Fold Ministry is the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers. The overarching goal is to bring all believers (but especially those belonging to that ministry) into the unity of the faith.

Litany of Installation Installer Walker: Having been authorized by the church to install Reverend Calvin R. Young, our co-worker in the Gospel as Senior Pastor, I now ask for certification of his appointment.

Deacon: We of the Rocky Valley Missionary Baptist Church after prayerful deliberation, have elected Reverend Calvin R. Young to be Senior Pastor and we present him for installation.

Installer Walker: Reverend Young, in the presence of this congregation will you commit yourself to this new trust and Responsibility and promise to discharge your duties in accordance to the Bylaws of this church?

Pastor-Elect: I do with the help of God. Installer Walker: Will you preach and teach in accordance with the Holy Scriptures?

Pastor-Elect: I do with the help of God. Installer Walker: Will you love, pray for, serve the people of God? Will you feed them with the Word and the Holy Sacraments leading them by your example by grace, and as a Holy example?

Pastor-Elect: I do with the help of God. Installer Walker: May the Almighty God who has given you the grace and mercy to do these things empower you, strengthen you and give you compassion to carry out these things.

All: Amen Installer Walker: And you people of God will you receive this messenger of Jesus, sent by God to serve God’s people with the Gospel of hope and salvation?

The Pastor-Elect will now kneel and the Clergy and Deacons will perform “Laying on of Hands & Prayer” Deus est scutum meum
