Director of Formation and Parish Life Rector Full Time (40 Hours)

Essential Functions: Calvary Church seeks a Parish Life and Formation Assistant to nourish the intergenerational life of the congregation. Parish Life and Formation Assistant will coordinate opportunities for faith formation, fellowship, and mission among the whole parish community, with particular focus on children, youth, and families. This position will be responsible for ensuring a free flow of communication that enables parishioners to be engaged in the life of the church, encourages connections with the broader community, and allows clergy and other staff to be more aware of parishioners’ needs, concerns, and joys.

Essential Gifts and Skills: Administration (including organizational and time management skills) Pastoral and energetic presence Enthusiasm for ministry with children, youth, and families Sense of humor Ability to connect with, listen to, and relate to, people of all ages Comfort with learning and using Squarespace content management system, Mailchimp email newsletter system, social media tools, and desktop word processing Duties and Responsibilities: Christian Formation Program: - collaborate with Rector to plan formation opportunities that reflect the liturgical seasons as well as ongoing offerings - ​work with the chair of the Children and Youth Renovation Team and members of the committee to plan and execute formation events - coordinate and support volunteers to provide meals for formation programs as needed - support logistics of parish quiet days and retreats - coordinate confirmation program with Rector - coordinate and support Children’s Chapel volunteers 1

- supervise nursery workers - build relationships with children, youth, and their families - oversee newcomer/guest hospitality for new or visiting families - facilitate implementation of vision and goals according to the timeline articulated in the 2018 Ministry Architects assessments Parish Life: - ​work with chair and members of the Parish Life committee to plan and execute parish-wide events - ensure all parish events are communicated in appropriate venues - work to document all parish events with photos to be posted on the web, Facebook, etc.

- coordinate volunteers to provide hospitality and welcome at Sunday morning coffee hour - nurture caring and supportive relationships with parishioners Communications: - ensure all formation opportunities, events, and parish information are communicated in all appropriate venues (web, social media, newsletters, bulletins, worship announcements, etc.)

- ​Oversees website and updates regularly in coordination with the Rector, Vestry, staff and Ministry Teams - Prepares in coordination with the Rector, Vestry, staff and Ministry Teams the twice-monthly e-newsletter - coordinates parish social media presence - Produce special flyers and mailings as needed Administrative: - The Parish Life and Formation Assistant will attend the weekly staff meetings - The Parish Life and Formation Assistant will meet regularly with the Rector - Oversee expenses and present the annual budget needs for these particular areas (parish life, communications, and formation).

- Participate in diocesan and community events - Access continuing education events and mentoring relationships beyond the parish Additional Information: Leave - Vacation, sick, personal leave and Holiday pay is outlined in the Calvary Personnel Policies and Procedures manual.

General Procedures - Communicates concerns and suggestions to the Rector. Serves as a good representative of Calvary Church, displaying sensitivity, courtesy, caring, tact, consideration and discretion. Consider the impact of individual actions.
