Natural Impressions

It’s Not Easy Being Green

Learn about artists and create your own masterpieces! Come discover how forms found in nature shape art. In this class, we will explore how lines, patterns, textures and colors in nature inspire the work of wellknown artists like Alexander Calder and J. M. W. Turner. Following their lead, we will then explore our own natural environment and create art inspired by nature.

It takes time and effort to help protect our planet; it’s not always easy but it is important to do simple things like turn off the lights and recycle our trash. Explore easy and fun ways to “be green” and help get the message out through kid-created puppets, cartoons, and skits. K1-124-S13

Water Wonders

K1-121-S13

Enjoy water games. Recreate a model of a water molecule. Understand the importance of conserving this natural resource. Make bubbles. But, beware: you will definitely get wet!

Travel Our World… by Starlight

Diamond in the Rough

Discover the world of rocks, minerals, and gems. Did you ever wonder how diamonds are really formed (not from coal like we were always told)? Or, how a pearl or a ruby is created? From video games to therapy to jewelry, gems have powerful effects on our daily lives. Design and create a “gem” of your own.

K1-122-S13

For the Love of Bugs!

Become an entomologist! Experience live insects such as “Rosy” the tarantula and see a Brazilian cockroach up close. Make an edible spider. Recreate a model of an insect’s eye. Enjoy bug hunts. Identify local insects. Join us as we learn all about bugs!
