Collegiate Council Update by Andrew Shousha CMEA Collegiate Council Representative
Dear Collegiate Music Education students,
Congratulations on the completion of another school year! Your efforts during this historic time are a reflection of your perseverance, and your future students will benefit from your tenacity as a result. As you continue to enjoy your summer, we want to present you with a short end-of-year wrap-up - please read below!
Collegiate Advocacy Summit
From June 23rd to 25th, collegiates from across the country participated in the NAfME Collegiate Advocacy Summit. This event is a great opportunity to engage with the profession at a national level, and one that we hope you will consider attending next year! It is offered virtually, which makes it so much easier to join. Find more information at nafme.org/membership/collegiate/.
Chapter Registration Form
If you are a President or Board Member of your chapter, please take a moment to update your chapter’s contact info using this short form. This will ensure that your information is accurate in our
database, which can then be shared with active chapters to facilitate communication and collaboration between chapters across our state.
Suggestions and Contact
Please keep in touch with the Collegiate Council as you head into next year. Though my term will have ended, the incoming (and continuing) Collegiate Council members can accomplish much more by collaborating with you - yes, YOU! Whether you have an idea, need help reaching out to another chapter, or just want to say hello, reach out at collegiatecouncil@calmusiced.com.
Closing Thoughts
Please remember that we all have a duty to engage with and contribute to our shared profession. This responsibility is not one that should be taken lightly; it is a critical part of what we do. By opening the magazine and reading this paragraph right now, you are already doing just that! Please continue to increase your and your colleagues’ involvement at the local, state, and national level, because we are each others’ strongest assets. I wish all of you the very best, and I hope to see you at CASMEC 2023!
