What is the Proficiency Test? Most of the laboratories go for Proficiency Testing (PT) which verifies the reliability and accuracy of the entire testing process and results. Proficiency Test is a procedure where an expert reference lab compares the various measuring results of different laboratories for a specific measurement or test. This test individually determines the proficiency of these laboratories and also proves their accuracy rate.

If you want to do Proficiency Test for CAL LABS, at first you have to find a provider and they will provide you the whole testing plan. After participating in the testing scheme you have to evaluate and review your result. Then you must submit it to the accreditation body of CAL LABS.

Inter-laboratory PT services for labs: Sometimes a few laboratories compare themselves with their peer group. This type of proficiency testing is called Inter-laboratory Proficiency Testing. If a peer group contains a minimum of 20 participants, it will be treated as a valid group. In case when sufficient participants do not exist, the laboratory result is compared to the mean value of all methods. Differences between Proficiency test and Inter-laboratory comparison: Though Proficiency test and Inter-laboratory comparison are similar, still they have some differences between them. A proficiency test is also a kind of inter-laboratory comparison. A coordinating body or reference laboratory organizes and manages the proficiency test and individually determines the performance of participating laboratories. In the case of interlaboratory PT service, the laboratories compare their performance between their associate participating members. However, Proficiency testing and Inter-laboratory comparisons both let you know how you can evaluate your testing result.
