LEGISLATIVE EDUCATION

CACM is your fierce advocate in Sacramento Voice in Sacramento

Legislative Updates

As the California-specific organization that advocates on behalf of managers and management companies, CACM is your fierce advocate in Sacramento, working to impact policy on issues that affect you. These efforts ensure that legislation that influences the day-to-day work of community managers and the industry as a whole is closely monitored, supported, or opposed, to positively impact managers. Here are a few ways we strive to keep you updated on legislative happenings, as well as options for you to get involved and have a voice in the decisionmaking process.

CACM knows the importance of keeping our members informed and engaged on legislative matters. Visit the Legislative Resources section on CACM’s website to access the latest legislative updates and keep track of CACM’s efforts in Sacramento. Also, watch for legislative update emails sent throughout the year as important developments arise.

Legislative Committee Want to be even more involved in CACM legislative efforts? Consider joining the Legislative Committee, a task force organized for the advocacy of managers and management companies. Managers who testified in Sacramento in 2023 played a major role in establishing and maintaining CACM’s position on bills and helped CACM become recognized as the voice of reason on CID management policy. Email CEO Tom Freeley at tfreeley@cacm.org for a copy of the Legislative Committee Charter to confirm you have the availability to attend a monthly conference call or to actively participate in Sacramento.

Political Action Committee (PAC) Success in Sacramento is driven by CACM’s Political Action Committee (PAC), which is funded by voluntary member donations (separate from member dues). Member donations are put to good use with the expertise of Sacramento’s best lobbyist in support of legislator campaigns whose political philosophies are consistent with the goals and objectives of CACM and our community manager members. Consider contributing and becoming part of the growing number of donors – it’s an investment in the California CID industry’s best interests!

MEMBERSHIP DUES CACM manager membership dues are based on a calendar year and payable every January 1. Should you join in a month other than January, your annual membership dues will be prorated accordingly. The following January you will be billed for the full amount, which is due and payable on January 1. If you pay by credit card, you will be charged only the prorated amount. If you pay by check, any overpayment will be credited to your account to apply towards your renewal. Join online and the prorated amount will be automatically calculated for you. By applying for membership, you consent to receive emails, faxes, and other electronic communications, as well as direct mail, related to CACM membership events, and to products and services of CACM, our affiliates, our affinity partners, and other select third parties. You also agree that while membership may provide you access to lists from CACM databases, you will use those lists only in accordance with their express terms, and not for commercial purposes. You also agree to respect CACM service marks and trademarks, and use the CACM brand and credentials in accordance with association approved standards and policies.
