Tourism Mission

To lead local tourism stakeholder engagement, while engaging the community to create true quality of place in order to drive tourists to overnight stays in Calhoun County.

Objectives

▶ Convene key organizational partners to identify, prioritize and address Tourism issues

▶ Expand marketing efforts to increase Tourism brand awareness

▶ Advocate for expanded cultural, arts, entertainment, and recreational opportunities to make our community even more attractive to both potential and current visitors

Business Development Mission

The Chamber will serve as the Business Resource Center to promote the growth and success of businesses and provide business training opportunities.

Objectives

▶ Diversify the programming and promotion of businesses through professional development, networking, and recognition opportunities

▶ Collaborate with area business partners to foster entrepreneurship, innovation, and small business development

▶ Enhance and Expand the programming for area Industries

▶ Engage Young Professionals

Workforce Development & Leadership Mission

The Chamber will serve as the primary liaison between the business and education communities and establish leadership training opportunities to enrich the leadership pipeline in the community.

Objectives

▶ Increase student engagement through the continued implementation and expansion of high school and college learning programs

▶ Enhance business community engagement in Pre-K - 12 education curriculum

▶ Strengthen Calhoun County Leadership programs, value and delivery

▶ Broaden community outreach with state addresses to include all sectors

▶ Increase Leadership Programs revenue to make programs self-sufficient

Public Affairs Mission

The Public Affairs Committee’s purpose is to represent and be a proactive voice for the members and the overall business community with all levels of government in order to improve and sustain a positive business climate.

Objectives

▶ Solidify our position as the “voice of business” in the community through continued public policy advocacy at all levels of government

▶ Increase member awareness of the Chamber’s advocacy efforts and successes

▶ Expand opportunities for Investors and members to interact with Elected officials to make their voices heard

▶ Support and strengthen relationships with other chambers, organizations, and the Military & Security Affairs Community

Organizational Development Mission

To continue to grow and engage our members and investors to further the overall mission of the Chamber.

Objectives

▶ Sustain Chamber’s financial position in order to enhance delivery of value to our members and the business community

▶ Leverage Technology to improve investor value, expertise, and operational efficiency

▶ Market and communicate events, programs, and initiatives by increasing awareness through development of infographics, videos, and other new marketing efforts

▶ Strengthen efforts to increase engagement and grow the organization through referrals

▶ Recognize Junior members and their business efforts while educating them about the Chamber

Each year, the Jacksonville State University College of Business & Industry and the Center for Economic Development & Business Research compiles data on the state of the economy in Calhoun County, the state, and the nation.

2024 marks the 22nd annual presentation, which includes the results of the economic-outlookprediction for the upcoming year.

The Center for Economic Development and Business Research at JSU concentrates on providing specialized assistance and expertise to area business and government. Examples of the services provided include economic impact studies, marketing surveys, employee attitude assessment, training, and personnel and pay plan development.
