WELCOME TO CAMP JCC Hi! My name is Abi and this will be my sixth summer working at camp jcc! Some of you may also recognize me from the Time for 2s, Kids ‘R’ Us, and Beyond the Bell programs throughout the years. When not at the JCC, I am busy pursuing a degree in social work at Mount Royal University. I am very eager to see all of the new and returning campers, and look forward to spending a super summer with you!

WHAT MAKES CAMP JCC SPECIAL • We’ve delivered quality camp services for over 30 years, and we continue to expand our program offerings. • We pride ourselves on our diverse programming, catering to a range of interests. • Our staff are well-trained and dedicated to providing a safe and fun environment for campers. • Our facilities offer the opportunity for a wide range of programming, including our indoor swimming pool and specialty instructors.

what we are doing We want to assure you that we will do our utmost to ensure that your children are safe, well cared for, and having a super summer experience! The JCC summer staff team will meet regularly to evaluate best practices and stay up-to-date on all COVID-19 related policies and procedures. All mandated guidelines set out by the Minister of Child and Family Services along with Alberta Health Services will be strictly followed by the Camp JCC staff.

• Staff and children will be assessed each day for symptoms of COVID-19 before entering the building.

• Camps will operate in cohorts and will not exceed the maximum number allowed. Cohort groups will not be mixed throughout the day.

• Anyone other than the designated camp counsellors will be wearing masks in the camp areas. This includes the Camp Director, Camp Coordinator, and cleaning staff.

• A dedicated cleaning staff will be assigned to the summer

camps to focus on cleaning and disinfecting program areas and equipment. High touch areas will be disinfected throughout the day.

• Shared spaces will be cleaned and disinfected in between usage by cohorts.

• Children and camp counsellors will be required to wash their hands upon entering camp areas, before and after meals, and when entering to and from the outdoors. Subject to change based on current provincial guidelines and restrictions.

It’s time to get rid of those training wheels and learn to bike! This program is designed to transition your child from four wheels to two, help them develop confidence, while introducing biking concepts centered around technique and safety. A week of fun, creativity, and of course – engineering! Over the course of a week, students will invent new machines and explore creative design solutions using the engineering design process. We encourage learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage, and curiosity through open-ended challenges in the fields of STEM, fine arts, and learning. At Pulse Studios we believe that dance camp should be fun and educational! All of our camps are taught by our incredible faculty and are guaranteed to get you moving and grooving. Learn all about what hip hop really is, as well as funk foundations and hip hop elements. Campers will learn breaking, popping, locking, hip hop party dance, and house dance. Participants will also learn about the history of these dances: how they came about, who are the people that created these dances, and how these dances have changed over time. We will also learn about other elements of hip hop culture: dj-ing, graffiti art, and mc-ing. Don’t miss out on this exciting week of dance! parent information 1.

Half-day camps run from 9am to 1pm. Full-day camps run from 9am to 4pm, and includes a one hour lunch break. Pre-care is 8 to 9am and post-care is 4 to 5:30pm.

2. Online registration is available at mycalgaryjcc.com starting Thursday, April 1, 2021. Registration can also be done in person at the JCC Customer Service Desk by completing the form (pages 13-14) . 3.

Payment plans are available upon request. All fees must be paid prior to June 30, 2021. Please set up a payment schedule with the JCC Customer Service Desk.

4. In the event of a mandated government shut down, a full refund or credit will be provided. A full camp refund will be issued, minus a $25 administration fee, for withdrawals up until June 14. 5. If withdrawing from a camp session, a minimum of five business days written notice must be provided. No refund will be provided with less than five days notice. A $25 processing fee will be charged to each camp week withdrawal. 6. If a camper withdraws during the camp session, no refund will be given. 7.

No refunds will be given for absences during camp session.

8. Each camp group requires a minimum number of campers to operate. Camper groups may be blended to ensure requirements are met, or camp may be cancelled. 9.

Member prices are not available for children of families holding individual or senior memberships. Member prices are available with a valid family and single parent membership for the week they are attending.

10. Please bring a hat, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, snacks (minimum two snacks are required to be sent each day), and a labeled water bottle every day. 11. Lunch must be brought from home, unless registered for the lunch option. 12. We are allergy and kosher sensitive. If you are uncertain as to what foods are acceptable, contact the JCC at camp@cjcc.ca.

ZERO TOLERANCE Our zero tolerance policy exists to protect our campers and leaders against violence, bullying, name calling, teasing, etc. At Camp JCC we do not want to see any camper dismissed for behavioural reasons. We make every effort to work with day campers and their families, allowing them the opportunity to correct their mistakes when they are misbehaving. However, we do have a zero tolerance policy for campers committing excessive verbal or physical abuse towards campers or leaders. This behaviour would include: hitting, punching, kicking, or other forms of fighting, verbal threats of violence, and excessive name calling and swearing. Furthermore, any camper caught stealing or damaging another person’s property will also be subject to our zero tolerance policy. These previously mentioned behaviors will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion for the remainder of the camp session.
