Deal volume declined by 13% in the packaging industry, falling from 76 transactions in February 2012 to 66 in March 2012. However, deal volume was 16% above the trailing twelve month (TTM) average of 57. In terms of capital raising transactions, debt offerings registered eight transactions in March, compared to six in February, marking a monthly increase of 33%. Deal volume was also above the TTM average of three. Meanwhile, the monthly deal volume of equity offerings remained the same as the previous month, at three transactions. This was 25% below the TTM average of four. M&A deal volume increased by 4% over the previous month, and was 18% above the TTM average of 40 deals.
