CURRICULUM VITAE Biography I studied fine arts at the University of Michigan and film at Hunter College before completing a Bachelor of Architecture degree at Pratt Institute. I went on to complete a Masters of Architecture degree at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI‐Arc). Among others I worked for Johnson, Fain and Pereira, and M. Paul Friedberg. In 1996 I established Coggan + Crawford Architecture + Design with my partner Annie Coggan. Our work is urban based and ranges from interiors to the full volume of a building, and in scale from furniture to buildings, and in type from work spaces to domestic spaces, exhibitions, set design, and toys. Our work focuses on establishing a narrative regarding the program and site, which is realized through an attention to detail and an intense interaction with the client. My research moves between poetry and politics. My political research involves issues of the environment and the role of buildings in contemporary environmental problems. My poetic research involves issues of form and narrative, and the relationship between art and architecture. The work of Coggan + Crawford has been reviewed in Dwell, Architectural Record, The Architects Newspaper, Residential Architect, Interior Design, Architectural Design (AD), the Paris Review, the New Yorker, Elle Décor and other places. Caleb Crawford is a recipient of a Dinkeloo Fellowship from the Van Alen Institute, and Coggan + Crawford are the recipients of numerous design awards. I have been teaching since 1994, and have taught at Pratt Institute, Penn State and Mississippi State. I was the Assistant Chair of Undergraduate Architecture at Pratt from 2002‐7.
