My name is ___. I’m a concerned New Yorker and I, along with thousands of other constituents, am calling on you to introduce a strong resolution for ceasefire at the next stated meeting this month, using the model resolution from NYC 4 Ceasefire. We cannot wait any longer! Can I expect your support for a ceasefire resolution?

Dear {Your City Council Member},
As your constituent, I urge you to introduce and pass the NYC City Council Ceasefire Resolution drafted by NYC4Ceasefire. Since October 7, over 50,000 Palestinians, over one million Muslims, and hundreds of thousands of allies across all ethnicities and faiths in this city have experienced collective pain, grief, and anger at the ongoing genocide in Gaza. We bear witness to at least 37,834 Palestinians killed, 14,000 of whom are children, 86,858 wounded, and at least 20,000 missing, and presumed dead, in the rubble in Israel’s ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
More than 85% of the population in Gaza has been displaced, the education and health care systems decimated, multi-faith religious institutions bombed, essential infrastructure and agriculture destroyed, and over one million people, out of a population of 2.2 million, are forcibly starved, leading to mass famine and an epidemic of disease, in addition to ongoing bombardment by the Israeli military.
At least 18 Council Members already support a ceasefire, sending a powerful message of solidarity for the immediate end to the mass violence. We demand you join the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers in support of a New York City Council ceasefire resolution that calls on the U.S. Congress to require the following:
- An immediate, complete, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
- An end to all U.S. military funding and aid to Israel.
- The release of all captives, Palestinian and Israeli.
- The prompt entry and distribution of humanitarian assistance at a scale needed throughout Palestine.
New York City residents across all five boroughs demand that the City Council represent and act on behalf of the views of New Yorkers who have overwhelmingly called for a permanent and immediate ceasefire and an end to U.S. military aid to Israel. We await your reply in support of the NYC4Ceasefire resolution today.
Sincerely,
{your name}
