Welcome And so here we are again. Lockdown #2. I sincerely hope that you and those close to you are all well. It seems there may now be a genuine light at the end of the tunnel as hope of a vaccine accelerates. In the meantime, we wanted to try and spread a little cheer. You may have noticed the Christmas lights being switched on early to bring some sparkle to the neighbourhood. Pavilion Road remains pedestrianised to make food shopping a little more enjoyable than the big supermarket queues (and certainly more fun than online orders) and we are able to keep the food market at
Duke of York Square open each Saturday. Local businesses are rising valiantly to the challenges of lockdown. There is real creativity and resilience emerging from the community here in finding ways to carry on – please read on to find out more, but why not ‘visit’ many of the local shops who have staff ready and waiting to give virtual gift consultations or order your favourite food from neighbourhood restaurants to enjoy at home – while settling in to immerse yourself in a robot tour of Saatchi’s latest exhibition and a beautiful livestream from Cadogan Hall.
AROUND THE CORNER
It was truly wonderful to see the area alive and buzzing last week and it makes me even more excited at the thought of welcoming everyone back later this year – perhaps with some of the added ingenuity that has come from this adversity.
Hugh
Why queue at supermarkets, or worry about securing an online delivery slot weeks ahead, when you’re able to pop to Pavilion Road for the essentials and a much more pleasurable experience? It remains pedestrianised for the foreseeable future and the following shops remain open: Bread Ahead, Provenance Village Butcher, The Chelsea General Store, Natoora, London Cheesemongers and Ice Cream Union.
FO OD MARKET The Food Market at Duke of York Square is still currently taking place each Saturday, from 10am – 4pm, with increased security measures. It includes many of the usual favourites, with some more festive stalls beginning from the 14th November and we will be continually monitoring it to ensure everyone’s safety. Please remember to wear your face covering and enjoy any food purchased from the market at home.
Installations at Duke of York Square brought some joyful interactions in October – the flower tunnel is currently being replaced with a more festive experience, to be revealed shortly.
