Beetham Tower, Manchester, England: Slender and Svelte Sleek and dazzling Beetham tower is modern iconic building of England which is considered as the only proper skyscraper outside London as remarked by Financial Times. Designed by Simpson Haugh and Partners with WSP group as structural engineer, Beetham Tower – as the name itself indicates is developed by Beetham Organization. It is located in the narrow gauged site of Deansgate at the intersection of Great Bridgewater Street and Liverpool Road in Manchester, England. The construction of Beetham Tower has started from 2004 and completed in 2006. It is the thinnest skyscraper in the world comprised the ratio of 12:1 on the east-west façade. Currently, it held the topmost position in the ladder of tallest building in Manchester, while 12 th in UK and again 1st in UK outside the London. In 2007, it won the won the award for best tall building in world, as given by Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
Beetham Tower is 554 feet high mixed use skyscraper serving the England at vast scale. It contains 47 floors with the floor area of 485,000 square feet, comprised of 8 elevators. At the roof of the building there is a glass blade structure measures ten metres facing at South. It functions as a façade which underline its slim structure and became a lightning rod.It is considered to make the howling sound during the windy weather. The 1st to 22nd floor accommodates 279 bedrooms with Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel. At 23rd floor a cantilever measures 4 feet bulge out with two glass windows. This floor also contains the Skybar named Cloud 23. Rest of the floors i.e. from 25 to 47 accommodates residential apartment. Post-tensioned flat slab concrete technique has used in construction.
