JAL tickets purchased inperson can be changed without penalty for up to 24 hours after purchase.
If you book your ticket on our website, you can change it for free within 24 hours of purchase.
JAL mobile app users can change tickets free of charge within 24 hours of purchase.
Spelling Mistake
If you made a typographical error, you can have your name corrected without penalty. Contact customer service.
International Travel
Name changes for international travel must follow TSA guidelines. Contact customer service for more information.
Fee for Other Changes
A fee is charged for all name change requests other than typographical errors. Contact customer service.
You can change your travel date for a fee 24 hours before your scheduled departure, standby fee may apply.
You can change your travel date free of charge more than 3 days in advance of your scheduled departure.

You can change your travel date free of charge within 24 hours of purchase of select non-refundable fares.
You can change your travel date for a fee within 72 hours of your scheduled departure, standby fee may apply.

If you are a JMB Diamond, JGC Premier, or JAL Global Club member, you may change your flight free of charge. Contact customer service.
If you are no longer able to fly for medical reasons, you may change your flight date or time with a doctor's note, no penalty fees will be charged.

Natural Disasters and Weather
Death or Serious Illness
If your travel is affected by weather or a natural disaster, fees may be waived. Contact customer service.
Military Duty
If you have an emergency as a member of the military, fees may be waived. Contact customer service.
If you are unable to travel because of a death in your immediate family or your own serious illness, fees may be waived. Contact customer service.
Flight Cancellation
If your flight is cancelled by JAL, fees will not apply for changes or cancellations. You will be updated about your new flight.
