Valparaíso, Chile

CONCEPT STATEMENT The country of Chile, with its elongated geographical shape, showcases a wide variety of climates, cuisines, festivals, and landscapes, which overall creates cultural differences within the country. The Andes Mountains, stretching through the entire 2,653 mile long country, connects some contrasting and breathtaking sights of Chile. From the northern arid Atacama Desert and copper rich Chuquicamata mine, to the central Laja Falls and all the way down to the southern Marble Caves, these extraordinary features come together to create an environment that unites this diverse country in a unique way. Inspired by Chile’s natural features of art made of the earth, the title ‘Tierra Pura’, meaning ‘pure earth’ in Spanish, was decided upon. ‘Tierra Pura’ represents the harmony of these raw and pure examples of art. It brings unity to Chile by integrating and incorporating inspiration from natural aspects of this country of such variety. This space captures the rich hues of orange and blue, extracted from the various geographical features, creating a contrasting, yet unifying space. ‘Tierra Pura’ seeks to also educate Chileans and visitors about the variety of culture and experiences that Chile has to offer.
