Six new outdoor spaces have been added in Bispebjerg Bakke, in northwestern Copenhagen. They are all meant to be social spaces, strengthening the possibilities to talk and meet in the neighborhood. Together with pupils from Tagensbo School these new spaces were designed, built and planted.
During the process we have also been working with botanical printing, communication and graphic design - all to spark a want to be creative. During the different phases of the project the students have met landscape architects, artists, architects, masons, carpenters, planting experts and urban planners.

Kildevæld School - 2 new plantings
Together with the 5th graders at Kildevældsskolen in Østerbro, we have designed and planted “The Edible Snake” and “The Plump Flower Bed”. In the future, the students will be able to pick fruit and spices for cooking class and pick fine flowers for the classroom.
The students have become acquainted with landscape architecture and have worked with landscape architects on composition, cuts and plant design. After an inspirational trip to the Botanical Garden, the students have worked in groups and prepared various design proposals, which have become artistic planting plans.

Glostrup Nordic Pocket Forests
At three schools in Glostrup Municipality - Ejbyskolen, Nordvangskolen and Søndervangskolen - middle school students have planted three biodiverse pocket forests of 100 square meters each.
Together with the students, we have analyzed the areas, designed the three forests and planted them. Going forward, the students will follow the development of the forest. The forests are designed with inspiration from Miyawaki forests. Local associations will be trained in how citizens can strengthen biodiversity - and their members and children from the local after school programme will also have the opportunity to follow the development of the forests and add new elements.
The project is supported by the Nordea Foundation. Year Participants
The Green Courtyard
With our help the students from two 7th grades at Højdevangens Skole have transformed an unused outdoor space at their school. The students have analyzed the space, including registering existing plant growth as well as wind and light conditions. The students were on a trip to get inspiration for their own design of the schoolyard’s new green space. In the design phase, the focus was on the colors and shapes of perennials and their needs for thriving. New seating spaces were added and some of the old ones were renovated, welcoming all pupils to use this new green space.
