Situated within the intersection of Pine and Kearny St., in the vestiges of San Francisco’s historic Manilatown, this memorial design is dedicated to Filipino immigrants’ cultural loss.
The spatial experience simulates the process of the Catholic sacrament of reconciliation.

Situated in Fruitvale, Oakland, this project supports the Peralta Hacienda community by becoming a cultural nexus through providing food security and recreational programming.
By integrating food access and recreation within the site, the project calls the community to gather within nurturing, gentle fire.

INSTALLATION FOR
PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE AND FIELD REVIEW COORDINATION FOR TRENCH DEPTHS, ASSEMBLY REVIEW, PRESSURE TESTS, OPERATIONAL TESTS, PREMAINTENANCE AND FINAL REVIEWS. A CONTINUITY TEST WILL BE REQUIRED FOR CONTROL WIRE STUBOUTS. NO SUBSTITUTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE.
3. ALL VALVE CONTROL WIRE SHALL BE MINIMUM AWG NO. 14 COPPER UL APPROVED FOR DIRECT BURIAL IN GROUND. CONNECT WIRES WITH 3M DBY CONNECTIONS PER MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS. RUN ONE (1) EXTRA CONTROL WIRE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR THROUGH ALL VALVE LOCATIONS FROM CONTROLLER. ALL WIRE AT VALVES SHALL HAVE 24" COILED LOOP IN VALVES BOXES. TAPE WIRES IN BUNDLES EVERY TEN FEET IN PLANTING AREAS.
4. AT JOB COMPLETION SUPPLY OWNER WITH TWO (2) SETS OF KEYS FOR CONTROLLER.
MAINTENANCE CONSIDERATIONS:
5. FILTER CLEANING AND FLUSHING SHOULD START OUT AS A MONTHLY PROCEDURE(MORE FREQUENT FOR DIRTY WATER SITUATIONS) AND ADJUST TIMING AS APPROPRIATE. VISUALLY CHECK FOR INDICATIONS OF PIPE BREAKS OR CLOGGED
CUSTOM SEAT WALL
1. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL EXISTING GRADES IN
EMITTERS ON A REGULAR BASIS. DURING WINTER MONTHS, WHEN THE SYSTEM IS NOT IN USE, THE SUBSURFACE SYSTEM(S) SHOULD BE RUN ABOUT EVERY 2 WEEKS FOR 2-4 MINUTE MINIMUM RUNTIME.
2. PROVIDE VERTICAL CURVES OR ROUNDINGS AT ABRUPT CHANGES IN GRADE UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. BLEND NEW EARTHWORK SMOOTHLY INTO EXISTING GRADES.
6. UPON COMPLETION OF THE LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER TO PROVIDE A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION TO THE CITY. CERTIFICATE SHALL CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING SIX ELEMENTS:
A. PROJECT INFORMATION SHEET THAT CONTAINS:

3. MAINTAIN EXISTING GRADES AT EXISTING PLANT MATERIAL TO REMAIN.
4. GRADE SURFACES TO ASSURE POSITIVE DRAINAGE FROM ALL STRUCTURES AND TO PREVENT PONDING OF SURFACE DRAINAGE.
5. ALL FILL MATERIAL IS SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT.

7. PITCH EVENLY BETWEEN SPOT GRADES. ALL PAVED AREAS MUST PITCH TO DRAIN AT A MINIMUM OF 1/8” PER FOOT. ANY DISCREPANCIES NOT ALLOWING THIS TO OCCUR SHALL BE REPORTED TO THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT PRIOR TO CONTINUING WORK.
B. CERTIFICATION BY THE DESIGNER OF THE LANDSCAPE DESIGN PLAN · WHERE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES ARE MADE IN THE FIELD DURING CONSTRUCTION, 'AS-BUILT' OR RECORD DRAWINGS SHALL BE INCLUDED
8. ONCE GRADING OPERATIONS ARE COMPLETED, ALL DISTURBED AREAS WITHIN OR OUTSIDE OF THE LIMITS OF WORK SHALL BE STABILIZED BY FINE GRADING AND SEEDING OR MULCHING AS DIRECTED BY THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT.

Situated in Fruitvale, Oakland, this project reimagines the water’s edge at East Creek Point into a functional transportation corridor, reinforcing community connection to the waterfront. Oak groves reinforce the water’s edge, mitigating the increasing flood risk from sea level rise, as well as provide much-needed green space.
“Living concrete”, through its use as a sea wall, revitalizes estuarine habitat above and below the water, sheltering wildlife from sea level rise and allowing for an intermingling of wildlife and human habitats while supporting urban connectivity.
