The Black Youth Leadership Project (BYLP) is an organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting Black youth through leadership development, educational opportunities, and community engagement. BYLP aims to address the unique challenges and barriers that black youth face by equipping them with the skills, resources, and support necessary to succeed academically, professionally, and socially. We believe in nurturing leadership qualities, fostering academic achievement, and promoting social emotional supports to change behaviors through mindfulness and development of communication skills.

BYLP's proposed programming aims to address campus climate issues and their impact on Black youth on your campus by implementing Black Youth Leadership Project (BYLP) programming Our programming seeks to create a culturally competent environment that fosters personal and leadership development for youth, promoting social justice and self-advocacy BYLP's expertise with its Black Girls Support Network (BGSN), Black Boys Support Network (BBSN), BYLP Allies (BAASN - i.e. safe space for non-black youth), and Mindfulness Based Substance Abuse Treatment (MBSAT) will be leveraged to empower and support youth effectively.

Culturally Competent Environment: Introduce BYLP programming to your campus that is sensitive to the needs and experiences of youth, fostering a sense of student accountability and empowerment.

Personal and Leadership Development: Provide students with opportunities to enhance their personal development, leadership skills, and self-confidence through workshops, seminars through BYLP programming - BGSN, BBSN, BAASN, & MBSAT.

Collaboration for Change: Establish the BYLP Allies Support Network (BAASN) to work in conjunction with Non-Black Affinity Spaces, fostering holistically constructive conversations and driving positive shifts in campus climate.

Leadership Training: BYLP's Executive Director can provide Executive Coaching to your school’s Leadership, helping to effectively serve Black youth and their families by understanding their unique needs and challenges.

Program Integration: BYLP programming (BGSN, BBSN, BAASN, & MBSAT) will be integrated into school community to ensure regular and meaningful engagement with students.

Workshops and Seminars: Conduct regular workshops and seminars covering topics such as racial identity, cultural understanding, social justice issues, and self-advocacy, with a focus on empowering youth and HEMS faculty.

Support Networks: Establish and maintain support networks (BGSN, BBSN, and BAASN) where students can connect, share experiences, and find support from peers and mentors.

Leadership Training: BYLP's Executive Director can collaborate with HEMS Leadership through Executive Coaching, providing insights into the needs of Black youth and effective strategies to support them.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly assess the impact of BYLP programming on the campus climate and the personal development of students to make data-driven improvements.

Awareness Assemblies: BYLP Awareness Assemblies focus on educating and empowering youth to make informed decisions about drugs, vaping, risky behaviors, and more. These dynamic sessions provide critical information on the dangers and consequences of these behaviors, while promoting healthy coping strategies, self-awareness, and resilience. Through open dialogue and practical tools, students are equipped to navigate challenges and build a foundation for positive life choices.

Improved Student Engagement: Increased participation and enthusiasm among Black students through culturally relevant programs and discussions.

Enhanced Leadership Skills: Students develop critical thinking, public speaking, and advocacy skills, empowering them to take on leadership roles within their school and community.

Positive Behavior Changes: A reduction in risky behaviors such as substance use, vaping, and other harmful activities through awareness and prevention-focused programming

Stronger School-Community Relationships: Improved trust and collaboration between students, parents, school staff, and the broader community.

Cultural Competency Development: Greater understanding and appreciation of Black culture and history for both students and educators, fostering a more inclusive and equitable school environment.

Increased Academic Confidence: Students gain confidence in their abilities, leading to higher academic performance and aspirations for higher education.

Mental Health Awareness and Support: Promotion of mindfulness practices and access to resources that support emotional well-being and stress management.

Conflict Resolution and Restorative Practices: Reduced disciplinary incidents through teaching students effective communication and conflict resolution skills.

Youth Advocacy and Empowerment: Students are equipped to advocate for themselves and their peers, becoming agents of change in addressing systemic inequities.

Tailored Solutions for School Needs: Customized programs and workshops designed to address specific challenges and goals unique to each school community

12-Session Mindfulness Based Substance Abuse Treatment (MBSAT) on-campus 2x weekly @ 1.5hr/day (3 hrs weekly, includes 2 Facilitators & 2 support staff) $ 6,000.00 (8 - 15 students per cohort) organizational Coaching/Support Monthly rate

Provide in person/virtual Executive Coaching to School Leadership (10hr/month) up to 5 Executives $ 10,000.00

Provide BYLP Allies Support Network (BAASN) Educators Programming and Consulting to Non-Black Affinity Group (10hr/month) $ 10,000.00

Black Boys Support Network (BBSN) on- campus 3x weekly @ 3hr/day (9 hrs weekly incudes 1 Site Lead & 2 staff) $ 9,000.00
