Sinopsis - Familiefaren Pål Eikrem lever et liv med den uhelbredelige nervesykdommen ALS. Han har kun øynene igjen å kommunisere med, resten av kroppen er lammet. Pål er fanget i sin egen kropp og er avhengig av hjelp døgnet rundt, men tiltross for det har han valgt å forlenge livet sitt med respirator. Selv om sykdommens fysiske belastninger fører til at Pål kan ha tunge tanker, kaller han seg selv en ukuelig optimist. Filmen følger Pål i hverdagen som kamerat, sønn, ektemann og far.

From 2008 to 2015 Bachelor Film Studies in Directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts – Film Academy Vienna in the class of Academy Award and two times Palme D’Or winner Michael Haneke. Patrick Vollrath has won several national and international prizes for his works.

2011 and 2013 he went to Cannes to be a participant of the Cannes Young Lions Competition.

In 2013 he was a participant of the Berlinale Talent Campus.

Sinopsis - A divorced father picks up his eight year-old daughter Lea. It seems pretty much like every second weekend, but after a while Lea can’t help feeling that something isn’t right.

So begins a fateful journey.

Her first feature documentary film “Sollbruchstelle / Devil hides in doubt” was successfully screened at international festivals (Visions du Réel, Viennale, DokLeipzig, Dokfest München, TFF Torino, LIDF London), received several awards (Advancement Award German Television Award 2009, Advancement Award Film week Duisburg, DokumentART Award) and broadcasted on German Television (3Sat). She directed an episode of the zero one international TV production “24h Berlin”.

Sinopsis - A tap dancer performs, while elsewhere people run from the tear gas of the police. Two worlds apart if it wasn’t for an unexpected opening in the floor, right in front of the dancer... She decides to jump, and lands in the middle of the social protests in Istanbul. The dancer witnesses the people’s fight for personal freedom and living space, and takes the opportunity to transform her dance into a statement of solidarity.

Ants Pact / AMEISENPAKT

20:00min / 2014 / Short Movie / Germany Director - Benjamin Martins Director bio - After his training as an actor in Cologne and Berlin, Benjamin Martins initially spent several months in Mozambique and India to collaborate in crosscultural assistance programs. He subsequently performed in several theatres in Germany and played various roles in film and television.

Benjamin then began to look into the work of a director and shortly after started developing the script to his directorial debut “Ameisenpakt” (ants pact).

Sinopsis - Paul is 16 years old and earns his pocket money working the streets. Fleeting encounters shape his daily routine, until he comes across a group of teenagers that teach him the lesson that nobody can run away from their problems. But Paul has made a pact. A pact with some ants.

An „Ameisenpakt,” which questions the strict patterns of our reality.

The boundaries between reality and imagination are shaking and Paul creates himself a world in which he feels at home.

Sinopsis - Geir, alias The book man, is 28 years old and collects books. Many books. He had to open a book shop to house them. In the small Norwegian town of Volda, his book shop grows and grows. His semi-autistic personality has him solving the Rubik´s cube in 20 seconds, he plays chess with himself, and he reads 2000 novels per year. That´s 5,6 per year!

Is he the fastest reader in the world?

In “Bokmannen” we follow Geir for a full week. Not much happens, except a lot of Rubik´s cube, a lot of chess, and a labyrintic mayhem of books.

Will Bokmannen make it thgrough the week? Where are his customers?

Through fly-on-the-wall perspective, mixed with POV and animation, we experience an intense week in Geir´s shop.

Sinopsis - Klara is a pianist and a rich lady living alone in a large castle, and playing music for her friend Alexandr.

When he announces that he met a girl, Klara’s feelings for him are crushed. She’s trying to get him back to her in all possible ways, first, by destroying his relationship with Anna, Alexandr’s love, and by killing him and leaving a trace of him as a memory of her past.

9min / Spain Director - Aleix Buch Director bio - Aleix Buch (Sant Vicenç de Montalt, Barcelona, 1992), with a degree in Audiovisual Media by Polytechnic University of Mataró, in 2015 debuts in direction with his first work, the short film called HOPE starring by Júlia Molins, Josep M. Alejandre, Veronica Robles and Valeria Gonzalez, project that at the same time he writes and produces.

Sinopsis - Claudia Recher is a young woman who has lived a horrible situation. Her sense of reality becomes an illusion as she struggles to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked life. The last witness of innocence and her internal conflicts.

The One Who Remembers More / Joka muistaa vähän enempi

9:02min / Documentary / 2015 / Finland Director- Lauri Autere & Minna Valjanen Directors short bio - Lauri Autere, born in 1990, is one of the founding members of Karvareuhka, a Rovaniemi, Finland based notorious indie/trash film group. He then proceeded to attend film studies in Tampere University of Applied Sciences (B.A.), spesializing in cinematography and documentary film.

Minna Valjanen, born in 1990, started her career in film and television as a Production Assistant and then has worked her way through the ranks as a Location Manager and Production Manager.

Sinopsis - Sompio Lapland, known for its vast wilderness and storytellers, drowned in the Lokka reservoir in 1967. Urpo belongs to the last generation that grew up in old Sompio, a generation that in their youth witnessed the irreversible change the area went through.

Those times are fading into history.

His latest film, “PASTOR PAUL”, is a 35mm black and white drama telling the story of a small town pastor forced to choose between a newfound atheism and keeping his job. The film was the recipient of a Panavision New Filmmakers Grant. For the New York Shakespeare Exchange, he recently directed “SONNET 67”, about a woman frustrated with a cold, modern world.

Born in 1987 in Cologne, raised in Aachen, his first project triggered a grand scale operation by the police, who suspected a killing spree on the school yard. After numerous internships, amongst others at camera rental ARRI Munich, he has worked as video operator and later clapper loader for cinema productions since 2009.

Sinopsis - „The Treatment” tells the story of isolated patient Linus. More and more a rigid routine consisting of meals, exercise, lulling music, irritating smoke and examinations by his only attachment figure Dr. Frei causes him suffering. One day Linus notices the massive door to his room has been left ajar and he takes the chance to escape. What he sees outside makes him question: Is he really who he believes he is?

He was born in 1990 in Wuppertal, Germany. When he was a child, he created the heroes of his stories during long car trips. With the help of the „Wuppertaler Medienprojekt”, an institution for video-productions for adolescents, he produced short films at the age of 16 and learned to express his ideas in movies.

Sinopsis - Amir is a deaf-mute refugee from the Kosovo. Jana is illiterate and lives in Wuppertal.

Although the two can’t communicate, a subtle connection evolves between them, up to the point when his past takes its toll...

Sinopsis - “The Sonata” is a film based on the well Leo Tolstoy novel “The Kreutzer Sonata”. Every intervention which is pressed into this has been for a intention only to explain the plain logic perception for circumstances in Kosovo. The love which holds two very different characters in everyday bases starts to build unsatisfying problems which these character attack each other drawing lines with questions such as: “What is love?”, “What is marriage?”

“How long do they last?” Can they be treated with time, years, months, days, and hours. These come to be explained from each characters point of view.

Sinopsis - In the essay film ‘Conversations’ the filmmaker unravels the hidden meanings of the personal archive of her grandmother.

Her sight takes its place inside a feminine chain of memories. The film shows how objects can have an additional unexpected layer of meanings. As it turns out they connect to her Jewish background.

The film is formed like a book, in three chapters with a special emphasis on text and voice.

Sinopsis - “Gulosten – gangsteren som ble kongens venn “ is the story of the gangster Johannes “Gulosten” Andersen who became friends with Haakon VII, the King of Norway, during World War II. Johannes Andersen was in the 1920s and 30s the most notorious criminal in Norway, but through extraordinary historical and personal coincidences during WWII, he ended up as a personal friend of Haakon VII, the King of Norway.

The documentary raises the question: How could a notorious criminal like “Gulosten” get away with murder?

How could he end up being protected by the King and parliament after the war, and even get a timber factory as a gift from the King of Norway, after killing two defenseless people in peacetime?

He fell in love with movies at the age of eight and started acting with small parts in the films Somebody Is Waiting (1996) and Claudine’s Return (1998).

Magaajyiah Silberfeld is a FrenchNigerien actor and filmmaker. At the age of 19 she directed her first short film in collaboration with Alec Tibaldi. After her training at the Conservatoire Municipal de Paris, Magaajyiah attended the Playhouse West Repertory Theater School and made her acting debut in Jin’naariya (Cannes Short Corner 2014, Fespaco 2015).

The fetch

9:54min / Short Movie / UK Director bio - After completing a Phd in Comparative Literature, I spent some years teaching foreign languages and doing short films on a DIY basis. Aiming at a proper education in Filmmaking, I eventually moved to London in order to study in the Met Film School (based at the legendary Ealing Studios).

Before moving to London I shot several medium lenght films with my own students. The idea was to play with the big genres of cinema, like we did in the musical film Amore ossoleto (Obsolete Love) or in the peplum movie Roma è troppo lontana (Rome is too too far).

Sinopsis - Two apparently unrelated men keep on bumping into each other. When they finally get to talk, they become mysteriously entangled.

A film about bicycles, coincidences and the fragile boundaries of human identity.

Washakie and the boy with the wet hands

He studied at the Stuttgart Media University. After his graduation he found a mentor in Mark W. Travis, the legendary directing coach from Los Angeles, about whom he is currently making a documentary. He also studied under screenwriting coaches, i.a. Karl Iglesias, Per Holm and Blake Snyder. Since 2013 he has been working as independent producer with his production company Infinity film GmbH.

Sinopsis - Martin is a teacher at a local high school. He thinks of himself as a good educator, but his own son begins to rebel against him. One day both drive to school together and get into a bad row over Bastian going on a camping vacation with his buddies.

Soon after, Bastian’s classmate Tom starts to shoot people in their school. Martin can stop the killing by volunteering to drive an escape car for Tom. During the escape, a harsh psychological duel begins between the teacher and the crazed student.

The Fisherman

Sinopsis - Mr Wong is a third generation fisherman in Hong Kong, struggling to keep this tradition alive.

One night, he decides to leave the crowded waters of Victoria Harbour, and fish in calmer waters. His luck changes when he catches something that does not belong to this world.

28 min / FINLAND / 2015 Director - Markus Lehmusruusu Directors bio - Markus Lehmusruusu is an award winning Finnish film director known for his short films such as the TREES AND SUCH. He is currently working on his first feature film and finishing his film directing studies at the Aalto University.

Synopsis - A lonely forest machine driver Seppo receives an e-mail from a mysterious woman called Zahra, who asks for help with her money problems. Seppo’s best friend Jussi claims that the message is a hoax, a so called nigerian letter, but Seppo decides to trust his heart for once.

Seppo answers to Zahra and soon finds himself head over heels in love and in danger.

A short film about love, hope, faith and forest management.

Lives

35 min / Kosovo / 2014 Director - Arian Mustafa Directors bio - Arian Mustafa, born on 20 July 1977, in Prishtina, Kosova, joined the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Arts - Movie Directing, in 2008.Currently is finishing his 4th and final year of studies with success.

Synopsis - A youth, Rrahim, 15 years old, is the “star” of LIVES. He is from Kosovo’s Ashkali community, a disadvantaged and often discriminated against minority.

Rrahim hears in school about life expectancy and realizes that this is different for different people. Rrahim wants to understand why he, his friends, his family will live shorter lives than their neighbors – for the stark reality is that Ashkalis along with Roma and Egyptians in Kosovo live on average at least 10 years shorter lives than the majority community.

This becomes Rrahim’s exploration – his effort to understand why. We will follow him as he meets different people to question them, to increase his understanding. We see Rrahim in his family, with his grandfather, school friends, talking with families who have lost a loved one recently, exploring dates on cemetery headstones, talking with kids. We also meet doctors and other health professionals, as well as the Minister of Health of Kosovo. Gradually, Rrahim learns some of the reasons that may account for this health and human rights catastrophe facing the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo.
