On behalf of all of us who work, learn, and grow each day at Baldwin, I want to express our profound gratitude from every school constituency – students teachers, parents, grandparents alumni, parents of alumni, trustees, and staff – who made 2023-2024 such a powerful year for Baldwin. Through your donations, time, ideas and energy, Baldwin continues to be an environment where our students engage in critical thinking and make a positive impact on the world around them.
Your generosity reaches every facet of our School's educational operations. Consistently spirited and unpredictably inventive at times in their ambitions, our students and teachers continuously open new pathways for learning and growth. Spend time at a Town Hall, lunch recess, or in any of our classrooms and you’ll experience firsthand the vitality and promise that shape our vision for tomorrow.
Amid all this progress, the key indicators of our schools enduring strength remain solid Interest in admissions to Baldwin is exceptionally high- attracting diversely talented students from both near and afar. At the other end of our student spectrum, our Seniors continue to earn acceptances to a powerful array of colleges and universities. Most importantly, our alumni from the last four years studying at institutions around the world, report to us a life of preparation and meaning both in and out of the classroom.
I cannot adequately express my gratitude for your unwavering generosity of spirit In the year ahead, as we bring to life the noble aspirations of our mission, and expand with 17,000 square feet dedicated to innovation and interconnectivity, I am hopeful that you will find your commitment to Baldwin School as a meaningful and worthy investment in its future.
See you on campus
Greg L. MacGilpin, Jr. Head of School
The Baldwin School of Puerto Rico is a 501(c)(3) non-profit institution, incorporated in Puerto Rico and governed by a volunteer school board that serves without remuneration. All financial surpluses are reinvested exclusively for the betterment of the school. The chief operating officer/chief financial officer, under the direction of the head of school, oversees the implementation of board decisions and ensures that resources are managed efficiently and responsibly. Baldwin maintains high standards of financial accountability and transparency in all operations.
For the 2023-24 school year, the audited financial results compared favorably to the boardapproved budget from December 2023. Revenues exceeded expectations, driven by strong enrollment numbers. However, operating expenses were higher than budgeted due to increased salaries and benefits to support enrollment growth and the impact of inflation Additionally, unexpected costs were incurred for property demolition and relocation related to LUMA, contributing to delays in the CRIB project construction
Annual operating surpluses are primarily allocated to capital purposes, such as maintaining and upgrading facilities, playgrounds, AC unit replacements, and advancing major projects like the CRIB. With board approval, surpluses may also be transferred to the school’s reserves, which are prudently invested to ensure the school’s long-term financial stability and to fund future infrastructure and scholarship needs. Gifts and donations remain vital to funding largescale capital initiatives and scholarship programs, reflecting the community’s collective commitment to Baldwin’s mission and future.

Since its founding in 1968, Baldwin has been dedicated to serving the greater San Juan metro community by providing forward-thinking education. This vision became a reality through a collective community effort, raising the initial $210,000 needed to establish a brand-new educational institution. Over the past 56 years, Baldwin has remained true to its not-for-profit roots. Today, as the largest IB World School in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, the spirit of philanthropy remains essential to our mission and growth.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all Baldwin supporters. Together, our donors foster a vital culture of philanthropy, sharing a common commitment to inspire investment in Baldwin’s future. Just as past generations laid the foundation for the spaces we now cherish, we build today to ensure a vibrant future for tomorrow’s students.
Last year, our community raised over $484,550 for the Annual Fund and CRIB initiatives, with parent participation reaching 535% Additionally, 100% of our Board contributed to the CRIB and Annual Fund, with the largest portion directed toward our Scholarship Fund.
With the support of our incredible Baldwin community, this year’s Annual Fund empowered dynamic arts and athletics programs, advanced educational research and design, expanded community engagement initiatives, and provided scholarships for deserving students. Together, we nurtured the imagination and innovation that define the Baldwin spirit, investing in every student’s limitless potential. Thank you for lighting the way toward a brighter, more hopeful future
The BWN Club initiative is a growing group of donors dedicated to supporting Baldwin’s mission to lead the way in education in Puerto Rico. By committing to a monthly recurring gift to the Annual Fund, BWN Club members help fuel value-added programs and initiatives.
