The La Place Bar is light and comfortable, adjacent to the swimming pool, this relaxed bar caters for all tastes throughout the day and into the evening. Our comprehensive bar menu is available all day along with an extensive drink, cocktails and wine list.

The courtyard with then original farmhouse well adjoins the lounge bar where in good weather drinks can be taken and breakfast is served in the high summer months.

You can use paycards or the paybyphone.co.uk app for parking throughout Jersey (except in Sand Street Car Park*).

MONDAY TO SATURDAY (INCLUSIVE) 8.00a.m. to 5.00p.m. (08.00 to 17.00 hours) They must be used in the RED and YELLOW zones on street and in Car Parks where you see this sign pictured left.

The charge for parking on street is 1 unit per stay. The maximum time you can stay in a YELLOW zone is 20 minutes and in a RED zone its 60 minutes.

There are currently a number of Residents Parking Schemes within St Helier and they are clearly signed. When parking in these areas, please look carefully at the signs to check if general parking is permitted and if you will need a display paycard. Parking in these areas is chargeable during the evenings and also on Sundays.

In Car Parks the charge is variable and you should take a look for the Signs at the entrance and within each car park for details of charges and maximum permitted stay rules. Several car parks are provided for shoppers and have a maximum stay of 3 hours only.

Buying Paycards Paycards are widely available from newsagents, post offices, hire car companies, garages, general shops and a number of Hotels, wherever you see a sign similar to that shown above.

They can be bought in books of 10 or are sold individually and come in 3 denominations - 1 Unit, 2 Unit and 4 Unit cards.

How to use a Paycard 1.

When you arrive at a parking place decide how long you intend to stay. (Remember on street parking and some car parks are short stay only).

2.

Calculate how many units you will need to display for your parking, using the details of charges displayed within each car park (On street is 1 unit per visit).

3.

Scratch off the following 5 panels on your paycard(s) to indicate your time of arrival:DAY, DATE, MONTH, HOURS & MINUTES (to the next five minutes).

4.

When using more than 1 paycard it is important to scratch each one identically. For example if staying for 3 hours, scratch off 3 Unit Paycards all with the same date and time of arrival.

5.

Paycards must be displayed face up so that all the details on each card can be clearly seen from outside the vehicle

Durrell Challenge

by German forces. The five-year occupation came to an end on 9 May 1945. Liberation Day, an event still celebrated in Jersey with an annual Bank Holiday, will once again bring that historic time to life with events taking place around Liberation Square, the Royal Square and the Weighbridge.

Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust has launched ‘The Durrell Challenge 2019′, a 13k road race held in Jersey. The Durrell Challenge is delighted to welcome Butterfield Bank for 2019 + 2020 as headline sponsor for the 13k Road Race and Really Wild Day! As in previous years, the 13k road race is just one element of a day of festivities welcoming everyone to Jersey Zoo for a Really Wild Day to raise valuable funds for this worthy cause. After the race, Jersey Zoo will be open to all 13k runners and all mini superheroes for a wild day out.

Exhibiting the work of 18 of the island’s top photographers, seeing the island, as not often seen in differing lights and angles, their island through their lens.

Situated on Le Boulevard, alongside the picturesque and charming harbour of St. Aubin, the gallery can be reached by bus using the number 12, 12A and 15 from Liberation Station or Le Petit Train from Liberation Square. Parking is available on the street or the nearby public car parks.

The festival is the largest annual motoring event in the Channel Islands, with competitive sprint and hill climbs for classic and vintage cars and motorcycles, a touring event for visitors and locals alike visiting various places of interest and stopping for refreshments around the island.

Jersey triathlon Sun 16th June The Accuro Jersey Triathlon is the most Southerly triathlon of the British Isles and is one of the most exciting, challenging and picturesque courses in Britain.

The Accuro Jersey Triathlon is made up of three distances; Standard, Jersey Sprint and Super Sprint. All swim disciplines take place in St Aubins Bay, the cycle for Standard & Jersey Sprint distance is a challenging 40km course that heads out West on the island, and finally the run course takes place for all distances around Elizabeth Marina and Waterfront.

The Tour des Ports de la Manche is a regatta held every year in July, linking ports in the Manche and the Channel Islands: Granville, Barneville Carteret, Jersey, Dielette, Cherbourg and Saint Vaast la Hougue. Each town hosting the race puts on a great welcome and party for the arriving crews. There is always a great atmosphere.

Jersey is perhaps best known for its southern beaches, their wide stretches of golden sands and shallow water being the perfect destination for visitors of all ages. Drenched in sunshine, there’s no better way to spend the day in Jersey.

St Brelade’s Bay

St Brelade’s Bay is one of the island’s busiest beaches, hosting thousands of visitors every summer. Known for its soft sand, safe swimming and wide range of beach activities, it’s a must-visit for many visitors to the island.

St Aubin’s Bay

In the full sun nearly all day, it’s the perfect place for sunbathing. There’s several beach cafes to retire to for refreshments and there are water-skiing and jet ski hire close by.

Western beaches

Jersey’s west coast is the place to come if you love water-sports such as surfing and kiteboarding. The beaches on this side of the island are noted for their strong winds, which when combined with the Atlantic swell and tidal shifts make it the beaches along this coast perfect for water sports, although swimmers should be aware of the strong currents.

St Ouen’s Bay

St Ouen’s Bay is renowned for its surfing, it having one of the oldest surfing clubs in Europe.

Surfers and other water sports enthusiasts come here from across the world, but it is also the setting for stunning beach walks that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons.

Northern beaches

The northern coast of Jersey is all about steep cliffs and sheltered bays.

Dramatic scenery is the order of the day here, you’ll find rock pools and sea caves and delightful hidden harbours when you explore this beautiful part of Jersey.

Grève de Lecq

Grève de Lecq is the most popular beach on the north of the island, it’s sheltered sands and rock-pools being the perfect place for families. As well as the beach itself, there are lots of cafes and pubs close by to enjoy when you’ve had enough of the sun.

Plemont

Plemont is a real gem, and one that you should plan for carefully as the beach is completely covered at high tide. Reached by climbing down a long flight of steps, you’ll find rock pools, sea caves and a fantastic beach cafe.

It’s a great place to swim too when the sea is calm.

Eastern beaches

Visit the island’s eastern beaches when the tide is out and you will see miles of rocky landscapes exposed.

The tides on this side of the island turn quickly, so you should always explore with caution.

Green Island

This beach is a particular favourite with locals, a real sun trap where you can enjoy soft golden sand, rock pools and rock climbing. Because the tide goes out a long way, caution should be exercised as it can come in very quickly.

Get closer to ‘The Wounded Man’, who shows the grizzly fate that could befall those fighting to save the castle from invasion.

La Moye Golf Course

One of the most famous golf courses on the island of Jersey, the Royal Jersey Golf Club is situated on the east coast. Offering splendid views over Mont Orgueil Castle and to the French Coast, it’s a wonderful course to play on. A par 70, 18 hole course, it’s tight and challenging with two par fives within its first three holes. Non-members are welcome to play at designated times and can also enjoy the bar, restaurant, clubhouse and golf shop.

Situated at St Brelade overlooking the sea towards the islands of Guernsey, Herm, Sark and Jethou, the course has been open since 1902. It’s almost impossible to get lost on an island that’s just nine miles by five miles, so get on your bike and explore the wonderful island of Jersey.

Why explore Jersey by bike?

Jersey may only be a relatively small island, but it is one that is packed full of sights to see. Along the coast, you’ll find rugged rocks, crashing waves and windswept golden beaches, whereas inland you can explore glorious pastures and leafy woodlands. With spectacular scenery, ever-changing views and the fresh Jersey air, the island really is the perfect place to enjoy in the saddle and is widely regarded as a world-class cycling destination.

Cycle networks and ‘green lanes’ Jersey has put a lot of thought into making life easy for cyclists and promoting cycling as a green way of exploring the island. There is a signposted cycling network across Jersey, all cycle lanes are clearly marked, and along them, you can enjoy the island’s rich countryside and stunning coastline.

For more dedicated cyclists, there are also some advanced cycling routes where you can cycle solo or as a team. Featuring a range of gradients, they will be enjoyed by those cyclists who enjoy pushing themselves that little bit further.

Family cycling Much of the cycling in Jersey is family friendly, but if you’re looking for a particular child-friendly route, then you should go to the Corbiere cycle track which runs from St Aubin’s Village to the Corbiere Lighthouse. It runs along the route of an old railway track and is completely traffic-free.

Along the route, you’ll find a cafe for refreshments and a children’s playground too. Don’t worry if you don’t have your bikes with you, hire a selection at the start of the route, from conventional bikes to tandems and kids tag-alongs.

Learn about smugglers, pirates, ghosts and legends or you may choose a more foodie based tour, where you can get a real flavour of Jersey, from fresh island oysters to creamy Jersey Royal potatoes.

Whichever one of the many tours that you choose, you’re bound to have a fantastic time.

Self-guided walks You don’t need to go on guided walks to enjoy the wonderful island of Jersey. It’s really easy to get your walking boots on and set out on your own and explore the island on foot. Ramble across the island through gently rolling fields to hidden bays, towering cliffs and sandy beaches. Because of the size of the island, you’re never far from a friendly local to point you in the right direction, and there are fantastic country pubs and restaurants scattered all across the island where you can rest your weary feet, recuperate and enjoy some amazing locally sourced food.

Family walks If you’re looking for a particular child-friendly route, then you should go to the Corbiere cycle track which runs from St Aubin’s Village to the Corbiere Lighthouse. Jersey may only be a small island, but it’s one that is bursting at the seams with arts activities. Whether your love is theatre, dance, cinema or art, you’ll find lots to do while visiting the island. We take a look at some of the venues and activities that you can enjoy while visiting the wonderful island of Jersey.

33 Opera House The Opera House is the oldest theatre in Jersey. It’s a stunningly beautiful building and one that should be appreciated both inside and outside. The Jersey Opera House has a busy schedule of events throughout the year, including drama, comedy and music as well as some good quality local productions.

The Jersey Arts Centre The Benjamin Meaker Theatre is in Phillips St and seats 250. Here you can enjoy a diverse programme including touring drama, contemporary dance and classical music. It’s also the home of the Jersey Film society that meets regularly.

The Jersey Arts Centre’s other theatre venue is a short walk away on St James St and is housed in a converted church building. Much smaller than the Benjamin Meaker Theatre, it’s mainly used for smaller theatre events as well as occasional world music events.

Gloucester Hall at Fort Regent If you’re a classical music fan, then Gloucester Hall at Fort Regent is the place to go. Seating up to 2000 people, it has a diverse programme of events that include visiting orchestras but also the occasional dance spectacular and tribute show.

Cineworld Cineworld is the island’s largest cinema and has ten screens showing all of the latest releases. It’s situated at the Waterfront Centre in St Helier and shows films everyday!

The Jersey Film Festival Held in August every year and attracting nightly audiences of between 1500 and 3500, the Jersey film festival is held for five days at Howard Davis Park and is completely free. A giant screen is erected in the park and only family films are shown, allowing families to enjoy free films while picnicking on the lawn under beautiful Jersey sky. Very popular, it’s well worth attending if you’re on the island whilst it is on.

Art galleries Art lovers are well catered for when visiting the island. As well as the Jersey Museum and Art Gallery that has regular exhibitions, there are a number of other galleries on the island. The Harbour Gallery is situated in St Aubin and is the largest dedicated gallery in the Channel Islands, featuring the work of over 100 local artists and craft workers. St Helier’s Victoria Art & Framing Gallery also displays a number of works by local artists as well as international artists and you can pick up some quirky gifts to take home.

St. helier town With a history stretching back to Roman times, St Helier is a town that is a delight to visit. From its thriving culinary scene to stylish shopping, from its fabulous waterside arena to its beautiful architecture, there is lots for you explore in this wonderful part of Jersey.

Situated in the southern part of the island, St Helier is the largest town in Jersey and has a population of about 33,000, with just over a third of all islanders living here. The town is named after the patron saint of Jersey, St Helier, who was a 6th-century monk. He founded a monastic community on the island before devoting himself fully to a life of devotion as a hermit, known locally for his healing powers for diseases of the skin and the eyes.

Whether stopping for a light lunch during the day or enjoying something more substantial in the evening, you’ll find plenty of choice in St Helier when it comes to eating out.

If fish and seafood are your thing then head into the town’s small Fish Market where you’ll find Bistro Rosa tucked away in a corner. This small Bistro specialises in freshly cooked fish and seafood but offers meat dishes too if you’re in a party with mixed tastes. Depending on what is freshly available, you could be tucking into oysters, scallops, monkfish, langoustines, lobster or Dover sole, and so the list goes on. It’s small and very popular so try to book to avoid missing out.

As you’d expect on Jersey, there’s quite an array of Mediterranean restaurants to choose from.

Bellagio is an Italian-themed venue on Charing Cross with the bar on the ground floor and a small restaurant upstairs. With both an a la carte and a set priced menu, there is plenty of choice on offer.

There’s a small al fresco seating area at the front of the bar, perfect for sitting in the sunshine with something nicely chilled and watching the world go by. Bellagio is led by a friendly team and the owner is often to be seen mingling and chatting to customers.

If you’ve a taste for Asian-inspired food, then try the Bay of Bengal on Burlington Parade. This restaurant only opened last year but has already earned itself a wide and loyal following of customers, who love its classic Indian and Bangladeshi cooking. With generous portions of delicately flavoured food, served by the friendly front of house team, it’s a great choice for an informal and satisfying night out. It’s perfect for takeaways too.

Not just one of the best beaches in Jersey, St Brelade’s Bay was voted as one of the top three best beaches in the whole of the UK in the 2017 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards. Visit and you’ll soon understand why. With its soft sand and palm trees, it’s a real paradise and thanks to the fact it is south-facing, you’ll enjoy the sun for the whole day.

The perfect winter destination Whilst the beach may be at its peak of popularity in the summer, St Brelade’s Bay is worth a visit in winter too. At low tide, visitors can walk the entire length of the beach from Ouaisne in the east to the historic Fisherman’s’ Chapel and parish church in the west. If the tide is high, you can walk along the beach front promenade that links the two beaches.

Getting to the beach The beach is really easy to get to and can be reached a number of ways. By car is the most popular way, and there are numerous car parks alongside the beach where you can pay to park for the day. Buses are a good way to get there too, with both the 12 and 14 services visiting the beach regularly. If you’re staying in St Brelade itself, the easiest way is to walk, the beach being only a short stroll from the centre of the village. Disabled visitors are well catered for with local charity, Beach Ability, offering various types of wheelchair for use on the beach.

Food, drinks and shopping!

From seafood restaurants that serve the finest freshly caught catches, to a range of pizza restaurants, bars and beach cafés, you can enjoy fantastic food whilst gazing out over the picturesque bay. If you fancy a few drinks and some live music, The Horse & Hound is the place to be to experience the true spirit of St Brelades. Les Quennevais Parade is the largest retail area outside of the town with leading banks, 3 Lloyds Chemists, Spar, Ladbrokes and William Hill along with a large collection of independent retailers such as West Collections who offer clothing, gifts and homeware. Avenue Ladies Fashion is also in this area and has a range of clothing, catering to continental fashion in sizes 8-22.

Situated on the picturesque west coast of Jersey, St Ouen’s Bay is one of Jersey’s most popular beaches.

Those who like a busy, bustling beach are best suited to the stretches at La Braye and the Watersplash, those who prefer quieter areas, are best avoiding these for There are many choices of food & drink the more peaceful stretches of sand. Surfing St Ouen's Bay is known across the world as one of the premier surf spots in Europe. The five mile stretch of beach is open to the Atlantic swells with strong currents and rips in the water. It’s not the only place you can enjoy surfing, other locations include St Brelades Bay, Plemont and the sheltered bay at Greve de Lecq. If you’re not an experienced surfer, there are a number of surf schools including the Jersey Surf School and Splash Surf School.

Wakeboarding, water skiing, kayaking For those who love the more exciting type of watersports, the crystal clear waters off Jersey are perfect for activities such as wake-boarding, water skiing, kayaking. There are a number of centres across the island and there is tuition available in all of the above as well as a number of other watersports.

gorey Popular with locals and tourists alike, this fishing village is the perfect place to spend the day. Take a trip to this lovely location and you’ll be able to enjoy long lunches in the sunshine at some of the finest eateries on the island, walks along the beautiful harbour or take in the history of the place with an insightful tour round the historic castle. The village has a real French flavour to it, so it’s no wonder that many visitors return to this idyllic village year-afteryear.

Mont Orgueil Castle Dominating the skyline above the village is Mont Orgueil Castle. One of the finest examples of a medieval castle, it has cast its shadow over Gorey for over 800 years. From its battlements, you can take in amazing views across the harbour to the French coast. Open all year round (check the website for more information) its popular tours let you experience the ambience of this historical castle and delve into its network of towers, staircases and secret rooms.

Find the secret path and you can walk down to the harbour where you may be lucky enough to see one of the island’s famous native green lizards on the way down. Find your way past the delightful row of cottages and you can find the hidden rocky beach that sits behind the harbour.

A food lover’s heaven It’s the food in Gorey though, that draws even more visitors to the village. It’s no wonder, as it’s blessed with such wonderful local resources. The fields that surround the village are where the island’s first famous Jersey Royal Potatoes were grown (and still are today). As a traditional fishing village, you can

watch fisherman come and go from the harbour at Gorey Pier, and then eat the fresh catches of the day at the local seafood restaurants that sit close by.

Shopping in Gorey, an absolute delight As well as the wonderful restaurants around the Gorey Pier area, you’ll also find places to buy some amazing souvenirs, including locally made, hand crafted goods by island artists. In the village itself, you’ll find an array of delights including the fashion boutique called Eclat, where you can browse a hand picked selection of fashion items. You can then retire next door to Kitchen @ Gorey where you can enjoy some of the island’s best homemade food.

No visit to Jersey should be without a trip to the wonderful village of Gorey. Do so, and you’ll have an experience that you’ll want to remember forever.

For those who prefer a more relaxed water sport, fishing is the perfect option when staying in Jersey. There’s a range of coarse and fly-fishing available on the island, but it’s the sea fishing that most anglers visit Jersey for. Bass fishing is big in Jersey, with the outer walls of Gorey Harbour being a popular spot to fish for them.

Check out the rocks and reef formations for conger and squid in the winter, whilst the Royal Bay of Grouville is another bass hot spot that also boasts lobsters, sand eels and crabs.

St Aubin’s Bay is another popular place to fish, good for sole, mullet, bass, dogfish, wrasse, conger and mackerel. The same to be said for St Catherine's, where several record breakers have been caught off the breakwater.
