Blue Water secures new major contract A consortium led by Blue Water has been awarded an additional contract by Tengizchevroil (TCO) In 2016, Blue Water announced the signing of two contracts in connection with the Tengizchevroil (TCO) Future Growth Project-Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP).

For these contracts, Blue Water is leading two consortiums which will supply 20 specially designed Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs) for the transportation of modules through the Russian Inland Waterway System and on the Caspian Sea to a new offloading facility in Prorva, Kazakhstan.

Blue Water can now announce a new contract in support of TCO’s FGP-WPMP. Blue Water is leading a consortium which includes Manchester Shipping. This consortium has been awarded a contract for the international transport of modular cargo from the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea – via the Russian Inland Waterway System – to Prorva in Kazakhstan. This will involve the use of up to 11 barges and 29 tugs. These vessels will be upgraded and modified where required to meet the specific transport requirements of the cargo movements.

The consortium will work in close cooperation with the leading Russian tug and barge operators for the provision of the vessels’ crews and services within the Russian Inland Waterways. This will bring

significant investment into the Russian system and the client will benefit from the combined expertise and experience of the involved companies.

Part of the elite The three TCO contracts – with a total contract value of more than 750 million US$ for Blue Water - have made our company part of the elite within project transportation to the oil industry.

Tengizchevroil LLP is a Kazakhstani partnership that explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, LPG, dry gas and sulfur. TCO conducts its operations in accordance with world-class safety and environmental standards. In April 1993, Tengizchevroil was formed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron Corporation. Current partners are: Chevron Overseas Company, 50 percent; KazMunayGas NC JSC, 20 percent; ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc., 25 percent and LUKARCO B.V., 5 percent.

STATUS FROM MANAGEMENT

Blue Water is back in the black Blue Water’s consolidated annual accounts for 2016 show a profit of DKK 10.4 m before tax A profit of DKK 10.4 m before tax in 2016 is not quite satisfactory for the Danish transport group with a staff of more than 1400 at 60 offices worldwide. However, the top management takes a positive view of the present situation and the result for 2016.

“In 2016, we introduced a series of changes and adaptations in consequence of our loss of DKK 14 m in 2015. We have seen an effect of the adaptations, but in some areas, it will take a little longer before the results really show. The result for 2016 is not quite satisfactory. As it is influenced by our still heavy investments in enhancing our business, a modest profit is, however, acceptable. The most important thing is that we are making a profit and that we have turned things around”, says Kurt Skov, CEO and Founder of Blue Water Shipping.

From loss to profit The accounts of Blue Water Holding, covering the activities of the entire group, show an increase in turnover of 4% - from DKK 5.0 bn to DKK 5.2 bn. And the bottom line improvement was just over DKK 24 m – from a loss of 14.3 to the profit of DKK 10.4 m before tax. The annual accounts are negatively influenced by total costs of DKK 45 m resulting from changes in the Nordic activities, the implementation of our super terminal in Taulov as well as decline in the Oil and Projects activities.

We operate in a competitive market with a low margin on many activities. We No. 117

are therefore satisfied that our business is growing and that we have succeeded in creating positive changes in 2016 where we have started implementing new strategies and organisations for our business segments”, says Kurt Skov.

In 2016, we have made investments for DKK 60 m in the new terminal in Taulov - inaugurated in August last year - and which total investment amounts to more than DKK 120 m. On the IT arena, heavy investments have been made: DKK 30 m to the implementation of a new global IT strategy with fewer but global and more integrated IT platforms. Again in 2017, investments in these two fields will affect the result with an expected DKK 50 m.

We increase our earnings We expect a better total result for 2017 than the 2016 result, as we will see a still increasing effect of the big investments, and because of an expected increase in earnings – especially within Oil/Gas, Wind and Projects, where the recent months have showed increasing activities. Also, the Danish part of the Blue Water Group’s biggest activity – transport of consumer goods, industrial cargo and food products by sea, road and air – generates growth and strong earnings.

“Our core business is healthy and grows steadily. Our project-oriented business shows fluctuating activities. This we experienced as a negative trend in 2015 and partly in 2016. Right now, however, things look very favourable as we have recently

won a series of major and minor Oil/Gas and Wind projects. This contributes to increased earnings and enables us to expand and develop these business segments again”, says Kurt Skov.

Giant projects Furthermore, Blue Water has during the past year announced three gigantic contracts totalling over DKK 5 bn for the oil consortium TCO, who are presently extending the Tengiz Oil Field in Kazakhstan.

“At present, the TCO activities are increasing strongly, but we will not see any major positive effect in terms of earnings until 2018 and onwards. Naturally, we are extremely proud of being part of this gigantic project, but we also keep a strong focus on maintaining good and strong development of and earnings within our other business segments”, says Kurt Skov.

Insightful visit During the world’s largest Oil & Gas Conference – OTC Houston – the Mayor of Esbjerg, Johnny Søtrup, as well as several other representatives from Esbjerg visited Blue Water’s office in Houston to learn more about our activities as well as our expectations for the future.

“During the visit, many interesting topics were discussed and we are looking forward to welcoming the mayor back again soon”, says Denise Ann Fiery Arnold, General Manager in Houston.

The city of Esbjerg is a member of World Energy City Partnership/ WECP, established in 1995. WECP is a non-profit organisation, the member cities of which are globally recognised as international energy capitals.

These member cities actively seek and develop opportunities to learn, exchange, and engage in activities which strengthen multilateral ties.

Safety award Blue Water has won DONG Energy’s Safe Away Award. Each year, the prize is awarded to a supplier making a special effort within safety.

DONG Energy’s Safe Away prize-giving was held at Esbjerg Conference Hotel where several suppliers were assembled for a feature day focusing on health and safety. The nominated companies were evaluated on proactive and preventive initiatives as well as results.

“You are awarded the prize because you have developed positively throughout the year – at management level as well as on the quay. You have achieved great results and shown active and visible safety management. You have introduced further

safety checks of containers and lifting equipment. In short, you have shown a strong will to develop your safety work”, said Kjeld Fjord, Operational Safety Manager at DONG Energy.

Blue Water sees the prize as a good result of intensive safety work.

“We have worked proactively with DONG Energy on improving the terminal and stevedoring activities in the port of Esbjerg and we have all approached this task with determination. We are proud to have been awarded this prize”, says Søren Messmann, General Manager Port Services at Blue Water.

DONG O&G and Blue Water have recently extended their agreement on transport services to run for the next four years.

Close cooperation with DONG O&G Over many years, DONG O&G and Blue Water have built a close cooperation in Esbjerg. This cooperation has developed to include several of the Blue Water organisation’s activities – such as cargo handling at the port area, rental of facilities, customs clearance and transport services.

In spite of the downturn in the Oil and Gas industry, the cooperation between DONG O&G and Blue Water goes 4

on. For the past year, Blue Water has in particular worked proactively with DONG O&G on safety measures at the terminal and port area.

“Going through this development with a strong, local client is completely in line with our strategy. Securing a positive, long-standing cooperation with DONG O&G has been a high priority for us. Therefore we are proud that we now have

such a wide cooperation as is the case with DONG O&G. The cooperation on improvements at the terminal and port area also shows that both parties are putting a lot of efforts into the cooperation, which we appreciate highly”, says Allan Leiberg Brodersen, who is responsible for Sales and Development in Blue Water's Project department.

High-profile project

Largest project ever for Schlumberger Blue Water has been awarded its largest project to date for Schlumberger’s OneSubsea: the BP Mad Dog II in the Gulf of Mexico. The project was sanctioned by BP in 2016 and includes a new floating production platform with the capacity to produce up to 140,000 gross barrels of crude oil per day from up to 14 production wells. Oil production is expected to begin in late 2021.

Our part in the project will include

transport of large subsea trees from Johor, Malaysia and Brazil to Louisiana, USA as well as heavy lift cargoes from multiple global origins.

“We will manage the project on a turn­ key basis with the project control tower being based within Blue Water Houston where we will provide a dedicated Project Manager and Project Team”, Says Brent Patterson, Senior Vice President, Global Projects at Blue Water.

Blue Water has secured a contract with Schlumberger for the project, ENI Zohr, which is a high-profile schedule driven project, from global origins, to Port Said, Egypt and to the UAE. “Blue Water will be responsible for door to door shipping of all Schlum­ berger's cargoes for this interesting project - almost exclusively via air freight except for roughly 2,000 tons overdimensional cargoes being booked via ocean ex USA to Port Said.

The project is expected to last for approximately four months with the possibility of additional scopes being awarded, in time”, says Denise Ann Fiery Arnold, General Manager Blue Water Houston.

Blue Water Houston will serve as control tower for this project, but Blue Water offices throughout Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East will be involved.

Heavy lift transport from China to Singapore Blue Water’s experienced project teams in Singapore and Shanghai have completed a challenging transport of pontoons and columns for a semi-submersible drilling rig Precise planning, effective execution and excellent teamwork are the key factors in these kinds of complex projects.

“Everything went as planned due to the outstanding teamwork between us, our client and our partners. The challenge with such an operation on the Yangtze river No. 117

is that the daily loading window is very narrow. During the winter period, there is only approx. 90 minutes of slack tide (less current) before the current increases and it becomes unsafe to complete a float-on operation”, says Lars Skov Christensen, Project Manager at Blue Water Singapore.

Blue Water's scope included the complete project management, chartering of a suitable semi-submersible vessel, engineering for sea-fastening and cribbing,

chartering of several tugs for the float-on operation and obtaining of all permits from the local authorities in China.

The largest pontoons measured 108 x 16 x 15 metres and weighed 4500 tons each. The lift-on operations of the six columns were completed by floating crane.

The dimensions of the columns were 15 x 15 x 20 metres and they weighed 500 tons each. The items will in the future form the lower hull of a semi-submersible drilling rig.

GENERAL CARGO

Urgent delivery to Greenland One late Thursday afternoon, the air freight department in Esbjerg received an order for urgent transport of a generator to Greenland where a trawler was waiting for the generator.

Swiftly, a special truck was booked to transport the generator from Holland to

Denmark. From here, the generator was transported on Air Greenland’s airbus to Greenland. As the 680-kg generator was too heavy for the domestic flights in Green­land, the last section of the transport was completed by helicopter chartered by Blue Water’s air charter experts in Billund.

After one day of very bad weather making delivery impossible, the generator finally arrived safely at Ilulissat where Blue Water’s local team received the generator and arranged delivery to the trawler.

Equipment for World Cup Biathlon Blue Water Finland had the pleasure of arranging delivery of miscellaneous equipment from Germany to the World Cup Biathlon in Kontiolahti in Finland for our good client Soli-Group, Bremen.

After the Kontiolahti event, part of the eguipment was returned to Germany and the other part was sent on to a similar event in Norway: the annual BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon Holmenkollen.

“Unloading of the equipment was performed in perfect weather and everything went as planned through the entire transport”, says Kai Henrik Hermiö, Manager Road Nordics at Blue Water Helsinki.

Urgent delivery to Danish Defence When one of the Danish Defence’s helicopters suffered an engine breakdown that could not be repaired on site, Danish Defence was in urgent need of a new helicopter. Blue Water solved the problem swiftly and effectively The helicopter is part of the Danish Defence’s preparedness on the Faroes and in Iceland and Greenland and this helicopter was destined for Keflavik, Iceland.

“The new helicopter could not just fly from Denmark to Iceland by itself.

The weather conditions were bad which would involve many intermediate landings and transport by sea would take too long.

Instead we chartered an air freighter to transport the new helicopter and return the defect one. All steps in the transport were coordinated in close cooperation with Joint Movement and Transportation Organisation – the transport unit of Danish Defence”, says Nicolai Nørgaard, Manager Government and Defense Logistics, Blue Water Billund.

In Iceland, Blue Water’s local experts arranged transport of the defect helicopter to the airport. From here, the defect helicopter was transported back to Denmark.

Heavy excavator to Torshavn In connection with the port extension in Torshavn, Blue Water Hirtshals has transported a 92-ton excavator on the MV “Norröna”.

The excavator arrived at Hirtshals one day before the departure to the Faroe Islands and Blue Water arranged safe storage in a fenced area until the planned departure.

“The challenge was the weight of the excavator. Such a heavy item requires

correct positioning on board to ensure a safe transport and delivery. There were no problems during the passage and the excavator arrived safely and in good condition”, says Jan Nørgaard from Blue Water Hirtshals.

Right now, the excavator is performing the 95,000-square metre port extension.

Road survey ensures safe delivery Our Aid & Relief team has transported six Iveco Refrigerated Trucks from China to Africa for the United Nations. The biggest challenge of this transport was the weather and road conditions.

“We often see that roads are destroyed by the heavy rain. Therefore, we conduct road surveys prior to transports to ensure that the cargo will not get stuck in the middle of nowhere”, says Niels Mikkelsen, Sea Freight Manager in Blue Water’s Aid & Relief team, who was responsible for this transport.

The trucks were loaded on board a vessel in China shaping a course for Beira in Mozambique, East Africa. Our partner in Beira Port monitored the reloading operation closely. They also handled transit

clearing, documentation and hiring of cranes for the lifting operations. When the trucks had been loaded onto six special low bed trailers, the convoy continued with guarded escort to prevent theft along the almost 1000-kilometre route.

Despite the heavy rain, the trucks arrived on time.

“The rivers in Southern Africa, like the Limpopo, Zambezi, Pungwe and Save, are often, if not always, a big issue to cross when the rainy season reaches its peak. Working with qualified agents in Africa, who know what they are doing, guarantees that all steps in the transport will be handled with care”, says Johnny Mortensen, Head of Aid & Relief Logistics at Blue Water.

In the early spring, we received a visit from our Chinese partner, Cargo Services, South China and Hong Kong, with whom we have a long-time cooperation covering Sea and Air Freight.

Ringo Cheung and Joanne Zhou started their visit in Denmark, where we among other things had arranged a meeting in Taulov where we had an interesting talk about our cooperation on Air Freight. After the meeting, our guests were given a tour of the terminal.

Ringo Cheung and Joanne Zhou also called at Blue Water’s offices in Billund, Esbjerg, Aarhus and Copenhagen before they continued to Finland. Here, our offices in Helsinki and Turku had the pleasure of their call. Overall, the visit was a very positive experience that will strengthen our future cooperation.

Mosquito nets save lives Johnny Mortensen, Head of Aid & Relief Logistics at Blue Water has been in Benin and Ghana in West Africa to meet with clients and partners. The purpose of the visit was to secure the flow of cargo, prepare for customs clearing and distribution of products to the many remote locations inside Benin and Ghana.

“The Ministry of Health is the receiving party for many donations and for this specific project, the ministry receives mosquito bed nets to protect against malaria. These nets serve a very important purpose as approximately one million children and pregnant women die every year from malaria-related diseases. We deliver around 250 x 40’ HC containers” for this project”, says Johnny Mortensen, who visited both destinations to secure a smooth operation.

Danespo – Change of CEO On 21.4, Kurt Skov and Søren Stouggard from Blue Water participated in a reception at Danespo – a big client of Blue Water through many years in connection with potato shipments to North Africa.

The CEO of Danespo for the past ten years – Steen Bitsch – has decided to move on to new challenges at Vestjyllands Andel in Ringkøbing, Denmark where he has taken over the top position.

Jens Holstborg is Danespo’s new CEO.

He comes from a similar position at DSV Frø Danmark.

Port agents for Veja Mate At the end of 2016, Blue Water was awarded the Stevedoring and Port Agency contract for the Veja Mate Offshore Project.

The project, located in the German part of the North Sea, includes 67 Siemens Wind Power 6 MW turbines, which are being loaded on to installation vessels in the port of Esbjerg.

For the installation, Siemens Wind Power has chartered Seajack’s JUV (JackUp Vessel) “Seajacks Scylla” and Fred.

Olsen Windcarrier’s JUV “Bold Tern”. In December, both vessels arrived at Esbjerg and commenced the mobilisation work to

prepare for the project. The first loadout started in late December, and the last four turbines will be loaded at the end of May 2017.

“We are very proud to have been chosen as stevedores and agents for the Veja Mate Offshore Project. With our experience in offshore wind, we are certain that we have contributed positively to the project”, says Søren Messmann, General Manager Port Services and Klaus Odby Jensen, Port Agency Operations Manager at Blue Water.

MV ”Mykines” arrived via Hirtshals When the Faroese shipping line and our good client, Smyril Line, positioned their new vessel for Rotterdam, the vessel arrived via Hirtshals to load empty trailers. During the port call at Hirtshals, Blue Water acted as agents and our stevedores handled the loading operations.

MV “Mykines” is a ro/ro vessel with a capacity of 90 trailer units and 500 cars divided on six decks. The vessel will be put in on the service between Rotterdam, Torshavn and Thorlakshofn on the west coast of Iceland. Captain Jóhan Av Reyni proudly displayed his new ship to representatives from Blue Water.

Well-attended Breakbulk Europe Blue Water participated in Breakbulk Europe which took place in Antwerp, Belgium in April. Breakbulk is the largest exhibition and educational forum in the world addressing the needs of traditional breakbulk and project cargo logistics professionals.

We had our own booth at this well-attended exhibition, where Blue Water’s representatives from the offices in Singapore, Brest, Lisbon, Oslo and Esbjerg had the pleasure of welcoming old as well as new potential clients.

Special equipment for offshore project

The Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm in Finland is being constructed with the help of Blue Water’s machinery and special equipment.

Three reach stackers with capacity to lift from 65 to 100 tons, one truck and a specially designed root end adaptor with dolly to transport the 63-metre blades have been delivered to Mäntyluoto port in Pori. The specially designed equipment

has been designed by Blue Water’s own engineering department to ensure a smooth, safe and efficient handling of the blades at the quay and storage area.

Also, it is a cost-effective solution as the client will avoid hiring extra workers to move the blades.

One of Blue Water’s own Project Managers is on site and acts as the connecting link between Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, the

company developing the wind farm, and Siemens. During the next four months, Blue Water will also provide terminal assistants.

Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm is constructed off the coast of the Finnish port of Pori. It is the first offshore wind farm designed for icy conditions and consists of ten 4.2 MW turbines.

Long-term cooperation with Vestas Blue Water and Vestas has agreed on a long-term cooperation in Cuxhaven, Germany. The agreement includes stevedoring, terminal handling, coordination of port calls and loading of trucks. The joint venture Blue Water BREB GmbH will handle the daily operations. Blue Water BREB GmbH has a close cooperation with the local company Ambau for the use of cranage and storage area.

The situation in South America is also characterised by high rates and limited space. We will be monitoring the development very closely and do our best to accommodate all clients’ needs”, says Frank Madsen.

Frank Madsen, Global Manager Reefer and Marine Logistics at Blue Water, gives his opinion on the present market situation.

“The reefer market has faced some challenges the past few months with carriers having trouble with supplying space and equipment, especially to the Far East.

There are several reasons behind the situation, but to mention a few of the major issues, the dry market was very strong and

dry containers paid more than reefers at a point. The usual slowdown in exports that we normally experience at the start of the year did not happen, During Chinese New Year, there were blank sailings which affected the capacity on the eastbound trade later on. Boston Seafood Show 2017

Blue Water has added another location to their world map of offices: Denver, Colorado in the United States. Bo Christensen, who has been working in Houston and Chicago, has moved to Denver to work in-house at our good client Western Export Services.

There is a lot going on in Denver in the food industry sector (Reefer logistics), but also within the renewable energy sector. Vestas for instance has a huge tower factory south of Denver. Part of the agreement is that Bo will also have time to further develop our activities in the area.

Blue Water participated for the third time in the Boston Seafood Show in March. The event is the seafood industry’s annual showcase and the most important seafood show in North America attracting visitors and exhibitors from all over the world.

Dry Dock Conference Blue Water has been handling Dry Dock logistics globally for many years and has for the first time participated in the Dry Dock Conference & Advanced Training Forum in Houston.

The conference was the ninth in a series of international conferences, the objec­ tive of which is to educate and provide technological updates to personnel in the dry dock industry.

17 different speakers, including highly skilled engineers from Russia, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Australia, USA, Japan and China, told about their experiences with different dry dock projects they had managed.

“We obtained a lot of new information. We also had the chance to present our role as a Logistics Service Provider to Dry Dock projects and to increase our network within the dry dock area”, says Thomas Jeppesen, Senior Sales Executive, Cruise & Marine, Blue Water Miami.

Cruise exhibition Again this year, we participated in Seatrade Cruise Global, Ft. Lauderdale, USA - as part of the Danish pavilion under Danish Export Association. Seatrade Cruise Global is the leading international exhibition serving

the Cruise industry.

Marine Hotel Association Again this year, we participated at the Marine Hotel Association (MHA) conference and trade show, which was held in Naples, Florida this time.

MHA is a small-scale exhibition, however, very cosy as it is held at the same hotel where all attendees are invited to stay.

Miami Boat Show In February, Blue Water Miami attended the yearly Miami Boat Show, the ultimate boat show, hosted at Miami Marine Stadium Park. This is one of the biggest boat shows in the US, with hundreds of vendors represented, displaying around 1300 boats and thousands of marine products.

IT visiting Greenland and France Our IT team is used to visiting colleagues all over the world to help make all systems run smoothly IT is a determining factor in today’s transport and logistics. Therefore, it is important that the configuration is in place at all offices.

Business and pleasure Mathias Skov Madsen, Heins Christensen and Lasse Høeg from our IT department in Esbjerg recently visited Blue Water’s office in the French city of Marseille. In addition to the IT job, the three colleagues

enjoyed a good meal with their French colleagues after office hours.

Also, Martin Hildebrandt and Steffen Frederiksen from our IT department in Esbjerg have visited our offices in Nuuk and Sisimiut in Greenland to upgrade the technical IT installations.

In addition to the long working nights, they also took the time to ride the snowmobile in the cold weather – minus 20 degrees centigrade.

Close matches As usual, Blue Water showed fighting spirit in all three series in this year’s football tournament “Esbjerg Freight Forwarders’ Cup”. We managed to take home one cup, but the matches were very close in all series. Our mix team actually won a joint first, but the score decided that they only

got third place. Our old boys fought their way to second place and the final match in the men’s series was between two Blue Water teams.

Thank you for a job well done. Next year, we will go for more cups.

Gammelnok's weekend excursion to Germany The destinations of this year’s excursion of Blue Water’s senior club were the two small German towns Husum and Friedrichstadt On the first Saturday in May, 37 present and former (now retired) colleagues and their partners headed for Husum, and spent the next couple of hours in this little cosy town.

Later in the afternoon we continued to the idyllic little village Friedrichstadt - also known as the Nordic Venice – where we had time for a walk in the nice and sunny weather before dinner at the hotel where we stayed the night.

Next day’s programme included a canal cruise and a stop on the way home in the village of Bergenhusen, which is famous for accommodating more than 40 storks.

A fantastic weekend, beautiful weather and good company.

Sailing adventure Three adventurous young lads from the south of Denmark will soon turn their dream into reality. The three lads will be cruising the Mediterranean, which they cannot do without buying various equipment and here Blue Water comes into the picture as sponsor.

During the winter, the three boys - Nikolaj Bie Rasmussen, Hans Kobberø and Mads Ahrenkiel – have prepared themselves for their big adventure. They have made their recently acquired boat “Lima” ready for the cruise, obtained their VHF and sailing certificates and the navigation route has been planned. Each boy will have his own area of responsibility on board: Hans is the skipper, Nikolaj is responsible for the provisioning and Mads is first mate.

vision programme about a family cruising the world in their sailing boat. We started making plans for a similar adventure which will soon become reality”, says Nikolaj. ”We easily recognise the three boys’ love of adventure. On 5 June, Nikolaj, Hans and Mads will leave Sonderborg shaping a course for the Mediterranean and are expected back again i approx. six months.

Visit from kindergarten The local kindergarten Mikisoq has paid our colleagues in Nuuk a visit. It seemed to be an exciting experience for the children.

During their visit, they tried to sit in a forklift and in one of Blue Water’s trucks. Maybe we have a future employee among the kindergarten children. They all received a cap in return for their visit.

Obituary It was with great sorrow that we received the information about the sudden death of Søren Nielsen Monday, 1 May. Søren died after a brief illness.

Søren has been part of Blue Water since the establishment of the company’s branch office in Odense back in 1988.

From the very start, Søren formed part of the Management team in Odense as responsible for Personnel, Sales and Business Development along with his other responsibilities. At first, these responsibilities included import of general cargo from the Continent and England. Søren was also for several years responsible for the Italian traffics. Subsequently, the overall responsibility for the company’s customs activities was assigned to Søren as well.

The establishment of Blue Waters’ branch at the former Lindo Shipyard in 2011 – the present Lindo Industrial Park – was an essential event in Søren’s career.

Here, as in all other relations, Søren saw the possibilities. Søren always saw the

possibilities, never limitations.

In 2014, Søren accepted the position of Head of Blue Water’s General Cargo Division and joined the Management Board as overall responsible for the company’s traditional transport of industrial cargo and consumer goods by road, sea and air – a position he held until his death.

Søren was well-liked by everybody – including the customers - due to his quiet and friendly personality and great kindness. During his almost 30 years as Manager and Director, Søren’s door was always open. He cared for and possessed the ability to listen to his employees and he was, because of his central positions, an important and natural culture bearer in Blue Water.

In relation to his job as well as privately, Søren had a large network within the business community, sport and culture.

In addition to his job, Søren was active in various trade associations: as Chairman in Fynske Speditører (Funen Freight Forwar-

ders) and as a Committee Member in Fynsk Erhverv (Funen Trade & Industry).

Søren was married to Kirsten with whom he shared everything for 38 years.

The couple also shared the interest for golf which gave them many fantastic and memorable trips and experiences - both in Denmark and abroad.

That Søren is no longer with us is incomprehensible. He will be sadly missed by everybody who knew him.

In this difficult time, our thoughts go to Søren’s family: his wife Kirsten and his twin brother Peter.

Let us respect Søren’s memory.

Dan Nissen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his 30th anniversary on 1.7. Through all the years, Dan has been based at the office in Esbjerg. He has, however, been around various departments and activities. Today Dan is Global Managing Director for Oil, Gas & Industrial Projects, and Wind Logistics, but he originally started his career as Trainee in our Agency department. Since then, he has mainly concentrated on ships and Sea Freight. At one time, Dan was in charge of our then Lauritzen Reefers department shipping food products to the Middle East on the Lauritzen reefer vessels. He was also for a number of years in charge of Blue Water’s many offices/departments around the world having transport of food products as their core activity. Later on, Dan became responsible for the offices servicing the Oil & Energy sector and his field of responsibility was subsequently extended to include the Cruise industry as well. Dan has also been overall responsible for the Sea and Air Freight activities of the entire Blue Water Group. Furthermore, Dan is a very dedicated Chairman of the local VL Group – Danish Management Society - the purpose of which is to heighten awareness of and understanding for modern management principles and thereby contribute to economic progress, social advances and general promotion of better standards of life in our country.

On the domestic front, Dan’s wife, Charlotte, is the boss – definitely when it comes to financial affairs. The family also includes the couple's twins, Line and Mikkel, who will soon fly the nest to start their studies in the Danish university city of Aarhus.

Car enthusiast is also one of Dan’s titles. He has quite a few of them (cars) in his garage.

We do not believe that Dan will ever become a great triathlete. Last time he gave it a try, it did not work out according to plan.

On 31.7, it will be 25 years since Frank Madsen/Blue Water Esbjerg started as Trainee, first in Road Transport in Esbjerg and then Deep Sea Shipping. Since then, Frank’s focus has remained on the Sea activities.

Later on, Frank continued to Aarhus to help build our Sea activity there. In 1998, he was transferred to Dubai to become involved in transport to the CIS/Central Asia among other things. In 2001, Frank took over the role of General Manager in Dubai until he, in 2003, returned to Esbjerg.

Here, Frank accepted a new role of Business Development Manager for Reefer Sea internationally. Additionally, he became responsible for the Sea/Air activities in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. With the latest restructuring of Blue Water, Frank has returned to being responsible for our Reefer Sea activities across the organisation as well as being in charge of the Marine Logistics activities.

On top of this, he is responsible for the offices which are active within these two business areas.

Frank is married to Camilla and the family also includes their daughters, Sofie and Sara, and the family dog Charlie. Frank spends his free time on football. indoor bicycling and now and then mountain biking. Good food and wine as well as spending time with his family and friends are also top priorities.

20th Christina Husted Bergmann

Christina Husted Bergmann/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 20th anniversary on 12.8. Christina originally started as our office girl before her apprenticeship, which started in the UK department and moving on to Deep Sea and Reefer Shipping.

In addition, Christina has formed part of our then existing Terminal Office and the Key Accounts team before she joined the Overseas department which she is still part of. Christina’s field of responsibility is LCL and FCL export worldwide and she makes it a point of honour to provide the very best service.

Christina is married to Henrik and the couple has three daughters: Sara aged 13, Sofie aged nine and Camille who is seven years old.

Christina keeps updated on the sports news and follows her daughters’ sports activities. She also likes taking the family dog, Carla, for a walk when the dog is not out on her own walking around in the neighbourhood, resulting in penalties from the police.

We are still waiting to see Christina jump into the harbour as she missed out on that opportunity almost two decades ago. When she had completed her apprenticeship she suddenly disappeared when her fellow trainees jumped into the water. We wonder whether she will take the plunge before her 20th anniversary.

20th Tony Hayfield

Tony Hayfield/Blue Water Ipswich will celebrate his 20th anniversary on 8.9.

Tony was originally employed to look after Groupage Traffic to Russia and CIS – a job that he performed to perfection, increasing the number of weekly departures and profit for the company. After a few years, Tony added Air Freight and Container Services to his daily duties.

In 2000, Tony was promoted to Operational/Office Manager, a position he still occupies Tony is married to Sharon for 21 years and they have three children – Lucy, Oliver and Rebecca. The eldest daughter recently started to study for degree at Nottingham University.

Tony is a keen cyclist and often cycles to work – that is 27 km each way! He is often seen on the road overtaking general traffic. He also enjoys watching track cycling and Tour de France on television.

Hock Tiong started with Blue Water as Operations Executive, supervising and being responsible for all our warehouse activities including the day-to-day operation.

In early 2008, he moved from the warehouse to our office and was assigned to the Projects Forwarding department handling day-to-day operations.

Hock Tiong is a very competent collea­ gue, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Hock Tiong was promoted to Project Manager in 2011, ensuring that the daily operations are performed smoothly. He also participates in tenders/quotations and coaching/training the team of 7 colleagues.

Hock Tiong got married in 2014 and his free time is dedicated to his family and friends with whom he enjoys having dinner and watching movies. He is also fond of travelling.

Aimish Shaumurunova/Blue Water Aktau will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 23.7. Aimish joined our Aktau office as a Customs Broker and she is the office’s “Queen of Temporary Imports”. She is very dedicated to her job, diligent and responsible. Aimish is well-liked among her colleagues - a loyal friend and always helpful.

Aimish is also the loving and considerate mother of three children and two cats. She loves to cook and she does that superbly.

In outward appearance, Aimish looks calm, but at the same time she is very active and light-footed. She likes partying, dancing and doing sports. To keep fit, she even walks up the stairs until the eighth floor every day.

Pernille was originally employed as Accounts Receivable Accountant, but over the years, various other responsibilities have been added and she can now call herself an All-round Accountant. However, she is very organised and the debtors are still kept on a tight leash.

Angie Wong/Blue Water Singapore will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.8. Angie is Senior Finance Manager in our Accounts department – a team of four colleagues - and is responsible for the finances of the offices in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Vietnam in close cooperation with Hanne Bärthel in Esbjerg and Jason Goh in Singapore.

Angie always does her utmost to prepare her duties in the very best way and she always looks after her team. She also makes sure that colleagues from other Blue Water offices feel very welcome when visiting the Singapore office.

Angie lives together with Sam and is the mother of one daughter and three sons. Angie is very devoted and have strong bonds to her family. They love spending time and doing things together.

Sometimes they will go cycling and board skating and they cherish their annual family holiday.

Jubilees Vejle. In 2008, Blue Water took over the activities, including Diana who became part of our Sea Freight team in Aarhus.

Having completed her apprenticeship, Diana moved to Gothenburg where she for the next three years was doing local freight forwarding.

When it was time for new challenges - this time in Wind Logistics – she moved her base to the North of Sweden. Here, she was responsible for three wind turbine projects; daily coordination of vessel operations and truck deliveries to the site.

After four years abroad, Diana returned to Denmark and joined our Oil & Gas department in Esbjerg. Her main responsibility was the execution of three D-rig yard stay projects for Maersk Drilling in USA, Italy and Namibia + South Africa.

Today, Diana is based at Lindo in a key function, leading and managing Logistics and Special Projects.

Diana lives with her partner, Christian, and she is an enthusiastic volleyball player.

Jannie Houkjær/Blue Water Aalborg started as Trainee on 1.8.2007. From the very start, Jannie became involved in Overseas Import and with her structured nature, she was a strong asset in the Overseas department.

In 2016, Jannie changed to a new function as Sales Support in the Sales department. This does not mean that she has cut all ties with her old team. Jannie is always ready to lend a helping hand. In addition to being Sales Support, she is our Client Event Coordinator and Claims Assistant among other ad hoc jobs.

Jannie is a cheerful and spontaneous girl who adds a bit of spice to the office.

She is an inspiration across the different departments, always going along with the practical joke.

Jannie is a single mother of a little girl Liva. That she is still capable of kicking the ball, Jannie proved when Blue Water’s girls won this year’s Rechto Cup in Aalborg.

Kasper Pedersen/Blue Water Aalborg started as Trainee in the North Atlantic department on 1.8.2007. Since then he has built wide experience with and knowledge of the North Atlantic markets. In addition to Greenland, export to the Faroes and Iceland is Kasper’s primary field of responsibility. Furthermore, he has improved his competences by passing his examination as a Certified Freight Forwarding Agent with magnificent grades in Transport Law, Logistics and Transport Economics.

Kasper and his girlfriend, Chris, live in a small town with their two sons; Benjamin aged three and Jonatan aged one.

For the present, house work and gardening are Kasper’s only exercise. He used to be a strong footballer playing for the local club. Nowadays he watches football lying on the couch following his favourite Premier League team, Liverpool FC, on TV.

Teddi Holm/Blue Water Esbjerg started as Trainee in Billund on 1.8.2007. Subsequently, he moved on to Overseas Shipping in Esbjerg, where they soon spotted his special talent. Having completed his apprenticeship, Teddi was in 2011 appointed Team Manager in the Import group.

With his career running smoothly, Teddi wanted to get his civil life organised and proposed to Kirsten in 2014. In 2015, the couple signed up for a wedding competition in a radio programme. They made it to the final, but had to face their defeat in the end. In May this year, Teddi and Kirsten got married without help from Danish Radio.

The young couple lives in a suburb of Esbjerg with their “child” Milo (dog). They spend hours learning Milo tricks. Teddi is also fond of motoring and the remaining time, he spends on his studies.

Malene Ehmsen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.8.

Malene joined Blue Water from Cargo Centre Billund and has from day one formed an essential part of and contributed her share of the development in the Courier/ Air Freight department in Esbjerg Malene is extremely service-minded and hates half measures. It is not only the clients who benefit from her service enthusiasm - she will tell our suppliers if they do not live up to her expectations.

Malene is married to Jesper and they have two children, Ditte and Viktor, and a dog called Fimse.

In addition to spending her free time with her family, Malene often takes a run and she and her family love travelling.

Lis Parker/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.9. Lis knows all the customs rules and regulations, and if you do not observe them, she will let you know. Her colleagues draw on her vast professional knowledge. Lis will always find a solution to the most exceptional questions and problems, where others would have given up long ago.

Lis spends her free time with her husband, three daughters and sons-in-law, four grandchildren and not least her cat.

Lis will turn 63 in June, but has entered her second youth. She will go to every concert in Esbjerg, as long as it is her taste in music.

If you mention her name at Blue Water Arena, everybody will know who Lis is. She watches all EfB’s home matches and she also attends most of their away matches .

Ronny Jensen/Blue Water Taulov will celebrate his 10th anniversary on 1.9. Ronny is part of our Part/Full Loads department, doing export to Benelux, and he is also assisting with Export to Germany.

One can safely say that Ronny has a somewhat split personality. One minute he is the very serious and hard-working freight forwarder attending to a client on the phone and a driver at the front desk at the same time – efficiently and professionally. The next minute he shows his black humour when making a comment that makes everybody around him wonder: “did I hear right”?

Ronny is born and bred in the southern part of Jutland and has his heart in the right place – especially when it comes to his family: Anica, Hjalte and Dicte. Ronny is often seen at BMX cycling tracks around Jutland wearing a boiler suit acting as mechanic for his son.

Alexander Medvedev/Blue Water Aktau joined our Aktau office as a Driver/Expeditor on 3.9.2007. A few years later, he was promoted to local Transport Coordinator.

There are not any non-standard tasks within domestic cargo transportation that Alexander cannot handle. He usually explodes with efficient and cost-effective solutions doing his best to handle the job perfectly. As Alexander is very good at talking with people, he is also good at establishing client relationships.

Alexander is married to Olga and he is the proud father of two children – a four-year-old son, Kirill, and a 2-year-old daughter, Viktoriya.

Alexander loves cars and knows a lot about them. He is even capable of fixing car problems himself. Furthermore, he is fond of fishing and hunting.

Angel Sanchez Morales/Blue Water Barcelona will celebrate his 10th anniversary on 4.9.

Angel is the Traffic Manager in Spain playing an important part at our Barcelona team.

Angel is married to Chantal and the family also includes the couple’s daughter, Yalmla, and the family dog Quima.

In his free time, Angel likes doing sports. He also enjoys a good glass of red wine while watching his favourite team, Real Madrid, playing on television.

A few years ago, Angel made an urgent trip to the Bahamas to deliver an important package to a ship. Four hours later, he returned to Barcelona without even having enjoyed a few hours at this exotic destination. A true company man.

Our Miami office is strategically located less than one hour from Miami Airport, Port of Miami, Fort Lauderdale Airport and Port Everglades.

Our first Florida office opened in Fort Lauderdale in 2006, as we won the logistics contract with Holland America Line. In 2008, we moved our US Reefer activity to Florida from New York and since then, the team has grown from one person to ten, handling almost 20,000 TEUS p.a.

Both the Cruise and Reefer activity grew fast and in 2014, we moved into a modern office

The Reefer team services customers especially within Protein, Meat and Dairy. Our Focus is to increase our activities in the frozen protein segment and further develop business with local Miami traders to South and Central America.

and technical ship spares, we have handled numerous new-builds and dry dock projects, latest including the new ship “Carnival Vista” in Italy with our partner Priano Marchelli, and the “Regent Seven Seas Explorer” in Genoa for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

Many projects in Wind Logistics Blue Water’s very active Wind Logistics team is located in Esbjerg and handles projects on behalf of the wind turbine manufacturers During a period of +20 years, Wind Logistics has transported more than 8000MW to many different destinations. Wind Logistics is part of Blue Water’s global set-up servicing the wind industry, and includes a strong set-up in Asia and the USA which was recently, with assistance from our Esbjerg office among others, involved in the Block Island Offshore project – the first offshore wind farm in the USA.

Experience and competences Our Wind Logistics team consists of experienced project managers and a tender group who, in addition to handling projects won, assists the clients with bidding for planned and future projects. The tasks cover a wide field – from transport of single components to big door to door projects of for instance up to 160 wind turbines, where Blue Water is responsible for all port handling, transport by sea and delivery by truck to site, often with efficient assistance from partners worldwide. ”During the first six months of 2017, 24

we have won quite a few assignments and projects and have our own people involved in UK, Belgium, France, Norway, Ireland, Spain, Finland as well as in a number of Danish ports, including Aalborg, Aarhus and Esbjerg”, says Jacob Kjærgaard, Head of Wind Logistics in Blue Water”.
