Editor-in-Chief
We sat down with the makeup artist and beauty savant who gave Chelsea her glowing spring Cover look Here, Jaie shares with us her tried-and-true beauty tips for healthy, fresh skin and beautiful makeup application
How did you initially become interested in doing makeup?
I have always been obsessed with all things, beauty and fashion, from a young age As a child, I would watch my mom get ready for work She always left the house looking her best I watched her put on makeup and admired her attention to detail and how gorgeous she looked every day
On some random Saturday nights, my cousin and I watched my mom ’ s 3 younger sisters get ready as they prepared for a night out at the disco They would get dressed in the absolute most fashionable trendy attire and would do their hair and makeup to perfection Their appearance was always impeccably beautiful I wanted to be just like her!
I remember my mom saying to me that it doesn’t matter what your outfit looks like if your hair, MAKEUP, nails and accessories aren’t together if they are not, then you are NOT ready! Words to live by! I have been in love with makeup ever since
How important is drinking water to your skincare and long-term makeup use?
Staying hydrated is essential to my overall health and wellbeing Moisturizing my skin on the outside is important, but it is just as important to drink plenty of water throughout the day I try hard to drink at least a gallon of water a day
The old saying,” what you put in comes out”, good, bad or indifferent Well, I believe that! It’s important to make wise choices with hydration Drink plenty of water!
Hydrated skin looks healthier and helps your makeup sit that much better There is nothing like a fresh, healthy appearance!
What advice would you give someone about moisturizing your skin in relation to wearing makeup every day?
I wear makeup every day literally! Maybe not a full beat every single day, but I do wear makeup daily And, since I choose to wear makeup every day, moisturizing my skin is crucial I am a firm believer in staying moisturized, before applying makeup and before bed
It’s always important for me to understand my skin when selecting a moisturizer that best suits your skin type It’s necessary to understand the ingredients because selecting something that doesn’t work for your skin type could cause clogged pores I love clean ingredient products Amazing brands that work for me are: Ready Skin, UnTamed Beauty and LaRoche Posay
My advice for someone about moisturizing my skin in relation to wearing makeup every day is to Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Even before you apply your makeup AND before bedtime
Always apply moisturizer to clean skin before putting on makeup This creates a smooth base, helping the makeup to apply more evenly and last longer Looking amazing with a glammed face is very important, however, don’t skip the nighttime care. Always clean and moisture before bed.
“As a child, I would watch my mom get ready for work. She always left the house looking her best.”
Who are your role models when it comes to makeup artistry?
Danessa Myricks; Pat McGrath; Rhianna; Estee Lauder
“Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Moisturizing my skin is crucial.”
Why is it important not to wear makeup to bed overnight?
It’s important for your overall skin health and prevention of premature aging Your skin ages 7x faster when you sleep with makeup on Clean your FACE!!
What is one skincare tip that you can give our readers?
Sunscreen is Essential! Even if you have darker skin, UV rays can still cause damage Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily to protect against sun damage and hyperpigmentation
What are you working on for the future?
Thanks for asking! I am focused on securing distribution for my skincare products while also developing marketing and branding strategies for international markets Be on the lookout for UnTamed Beauty everywhere you get your skincare products, SOON!

CHELSEA EDWARDS, A POWERHOUSE ON BOTH YOUR DAYTIME TV SCREEN THROUGH HER SHOW, CHATTIN’ WITH CHELSEA, AND IN REAL LIFE, SAT DOWN WITH US
How did you know that you wanted to, and how and when did you get into media?
Honestly, I’ve been around media my whole life my mom was always watching the news, so it kind of became part of my everyday routine I didn’t realize it at the time, but that constant exposure made media feel familiar and natural to me In high school, I enrolled in the Media Academy at Hightower, and that’s when I really fell in love with all the behind-the-scenes stuff editing, directing, the whole production vibe
After high school, I stayed behind the camera for a long time About 15 years into my career while I was working as an editor at another station a supervisor suggested I try reporting I gave it a shot, and one thing led to another eventually, I found myself the host of Chattin' With Chelsea It’s been an unexpected but incredible journey
What were some challenges you faced, or are facing, along your media journey?
One of the biggest challenges I faced early on was feeling boxed in When I was working as an editor, I ran into a lot of resistance from leadership There weren’t many opportunities to explore other departments, even though I was eager to learn and grow I started training to become a reporter on my own time, during my off days, but was eventually told I wasn’t allowed to do that anymore
At the time, it was incredibly frustrating, but looking back, I’m actually grateful for that roadblock That lit a fire under me I knew I had more to offer, and I wasn’t going to wait for permission to be who I was meant to become Being told “ no ” pushed me to step out on faith, and I landed my first full-time on-camera job at KWTX in Waco, TX almost immediately after that What felt like a setback turned out to be the setup I needed to step into the spotlight
How do you juggle/manage doing your purpose, being a mom, and showing up for yourself?
It’s definitely a challenge especially as a single mom but I truly believe in honoring the gifts I've been given of both working in my purpose and being a parent
I try to wrap up my workday by 5 PM so I can pick up my son from school and shift into "mom mode "
Of course, that’s not always possible, but I’m intentional about setting boundaries like keeping my phone off the dinner table so we can really connect and chat about our day
There's always housework to be done, but I don't hesitate to crawl on the floor to race toy cars or break out into a dance session with him because those moments of joy mean everything
At the same time, I’ve learned how important it is to show up for myself, too I carve out time for selfcare, whether that’s a good skincare routine, a workout with my trainer Danielle Evans from Better Naked Fitness, or even just a few quiet minutes in the morning with a book and some prayer I’ve also gotten better about meal prepping otherwise, I’ll look up and realize it’s 4 PM and I haven’t eaten anything with a single fruit or veggie in it! It’s a juggling act, but I love every part of it
How do you stay so positive, light, bubbly, and fun?
I genuinely find the humor in just about everything including myself! I’m always laughing at my own flubs, and I love sharing those laughs with the people around me Life is too short to ignore the joy around you
I also find so much happiness in the little things Whether it’s the smell of a lavender latte, my fouryear-old trying his best to wrap his tiny arms around me for a hug, or the luxury of sleeping in on a weekend I really try to pause and appreciate those simple blessings That gratitude keeps me grounded and smiling
And honestly, I get a lot of my energy from people I love connecting with others hearing their stories, learning about their passions, and celebrating their wins. It lights me up! That excitement fuels my desire to be a positive presence and hopefully pour a little bit of love and encouragement into everyone I meet
What do you like to do for fun?
I’m all about good food and great company! I love trying new restaurants whether it's the latest hotspot or a hidden gem and turning it into a little adventure with my friends But honestly, some of our best memories have been nights hanging at home, grabbing takeout, mixing up fun cocktails, and just laughing for hours It’s really about the people I love more than anything
What are some goals you have that you can share?
One of my biggest goals is to make Chattin' with Chelsea the top daytime talk show in the market I’m also passionate about building a vibrant online community of besties people who connect through real conversations, good vibes, and lots of laughs
You can be part of it! Catch Chattin' with Chelsea on Fox 26 every weekday at 12:30 PM and midnight, or stream it anytime on the Fox Soul app And don’t forget to follow me on social media @chelseafox26 to join the fun and stay connected!
What’s your favorite beauty tip that you would like to give to people?
One of the best beauty tips I’ve ever received came from my best friend Monica Okolo at Braid Bar Houston she taught me the importance ofnot neglecting your scalp No matter what style I’m rocking, I always make sure to care for my scalp, and it's made a huge difference in my hair health and growth over the years And honestly? Sleep Glowing skin, good energy, clearer thoughts it all starts with getting solid rest It’s the easiest (and most underrated) way to boost your radiance from the inside out
What advice would you like to share with the audience on accomplishing your goals through purpose?
For me, goals mean very little without purpose and faith You can chase success whether it’s money, family, or a dream career but if God isn’t at the center, even "having it all" can feel empty Purpose gives your goals meaning, and faith gives you peace in knowing you don't have to figure out all the details on your own
When you understand your calling, everything becomes clearer Your goals start to align, and you gain the motivation and confidence to follow through. There’s also a deeper joy that comes with that being able to appreciate the small moments and smile through the process because you know you ’ re walking in purpose And when you walk in purpose, you can trust that you ’ re headed exactly where you ’ re meant to be
OUR FUN, THREE THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS
If you were on an island by yourself and could only bring one type of food, one type of drink, and one outfit color, what would they be?
Tacos, margaritas, and bright yellow so a good man can spot me from miles away!
If you had a super green thumb and could grow any tree or bush overnight, which fruit would you grow?
Avocados because I could eat 'em a hundred ways, all day, every day
If you could do something to help humanity grow healthy foods, build eco-friendly housing, or provide free mental health therapy what would you choose?
Eco-friendly housing! Everyone deserves a safe place to start fresh and feel at home.
How did you initially become interested in being a singer? I believe it’s a desire that was placed in me at birth the earliest stories my parents told me, were of me crawling up to the TV and trying to dance with and sing along to Aaliyah on 106 & Park, and I told them I wanted to be a singer at age 3!
Who are your role models when it comes to music?
Gosh, I have so many! Stylistically I enjoy so many 90s artist’s catalogs, from Janet, to Anita Baker, Mary J Blige, Erykah Badu, and even further back to Sam Cooke, Aretha, Etta James, the list is truly endless Business-wise, what Beyoncé and Rihanna have been able to accomplish for themselves and their families inspires me I also draw a lot of inspiration from singers who started out as songwriters like The Dream, Miguel, Victoria Monet and many others
What do you draw inspiration from to write a song? I mostly draw inspiration first from the beat that I am listening to, then from there how I’m feeling or what’s going on in my life at that time, or the emotion that the beat evokes in me If I’m writing for another artist, I take inspiration from what they share is going on in their life I listen to a wide-array of unique artists as well to inspire me to be myself artistically.
How important is it to take care of your vocal cords? It’s majorly important! I got a few vocal lessons way back, but started again during the “ panorama ” (haha!) and have learned so much about the care they require from my coach, Jan Smith I eat a whole foods plant based diet, do vocal workouts, and do my best to drink lots of water, and move my body to support their strength and limberness, so they can deliver their best quality
What’s your take on authenticity vs following trends in music? Funny you asked! I wrote a song called Authenticity! My take is that it feels more uncomfortable, more challenging to be authentic than to follow a trend, because it feels like you ’ re going against the grain For me personally, I create
The singer-songwriter lets us in on her process, and gives us some inspirational advice that everyone can apply to their journey
partially out of necessity to feel free, so being authentic is the only way to achieve that feeling of freedom I also think authenticity is tied to purpose Being authentic allows me to operate fully in my purpose by not allowing shame, guilt or fear to withhold what I know deep down I’m supposed to sing about Following trends feels easy because there’s already a formula to duplicate, but authenticity and originality is timeless that’s what I’ve seen as I mull over all of the artists whose art has stood the test of time
What advice would you give someone about being an artist in this day and age? I would say to listen to your intuition! You were blessed with that for a reason and it will guide you on what to do next Your inner circle will determine your success, and ability to hear your intuition, so make sure all of them are solid, reciprocal, caring people who are rooting for you, so it doesn’t make it harder and longer to get where you ’ re going And finally, (I am taking this advice myself!) do it scared! Your art, your gifts are not only for you, they’re also for someone else who may need to hear what you have to say, or to draw inspiration from your journey Give yourself grace Hold yourself accountable Don’t give up!
What are you working on for the future? I’m currently gearing up to release a batch of things that I’ve been working on and am very excited about!

Can you please tell the audience a little bit about yourself? I am Felicia Guimont, Owner of OMG Cakes & Southern Best Catering, LLC I was born in Mississippi and raised in Kankakee Illinois until we did our final move to Hutchins, Texas My journey was hard, I was labeled so many things, bullied and abused During my summer visit back to Mississippi where I experienced a peaceful breeze, I fell in love with country cooking! Nothing could compare to a hot breakfast cooling off on the freezer that sat on that porch shielded by a screen I felt safe and no one judged me! The kitchen was my safe space!
Do you think self-care is importantly and if so how do you take care of yourself? I need that self-care in my life! My feet ache and when I get to the nail spa, I look forward to sitting still! If I had done more caring for me, I would not have had a heart attack in 2012, a stroke in 2016 I could have avoided foot surgeries I put myself first and will respect me!
Who are some of your role models? Some of my role models consisted of my Manager Eleno Corpuz (RIP) who saw my potential as a leader in the MFG area of a company I worked for over 24 years He taught me how to run a business and work a corporate job! I used my earnings as the foundation, purchasing one piece at a time until I owned what I own! My IVF Specialist, Dr Lisa King utilized my services for her Grand Openings and a few personal events! She told me that she wanted me to have my own merchant operating system and urged me to stop going through others; to stand on my own. I did just that and refused to lose a great client/friend who sings
We caught up with Chef Fee of OMG Cakes and Southern Best Catering to hear her story, her self care, and how she built her booming, boss babe, business! to me every year for my birthday! My Pastor, Dr David L Floyd took the entrepreneurs of the church on a biblical mentorship journey that took our mind, spirit and bodies to a level beyond the normal!
What led you to start your business or profession? I started the journey with baking and cooking at church at work We loved to fellowship and did so through food I would put the menu list together allowing others to choose what they wanted to bring I would cook and others handed me their money and I did cooking to cover them I was later the cook for our gatherings because everyone handed me their responsibility and money! Church conferences took it to the next level Dignitaries and Singers and more would experience the dish provided by me as assigned and soon, I was Sister Lasagna, Sister Chicken Salad and one time before, the sister who did THAT dish which was Chicken Etouffee It was time to get my name on paper and serve when I was called!
How do you juggle running your business and your other daily duties? The hardest task as an entrepreneur is juggling! There is no time in a day to complete any list of chores or anything personal! I need a double dose of me I am a wife, serve the community, cater weekly and attempt to answer every call! One day, every task will be successfully completed!
We walked out of sessions ready to connect to others in our same areas of talent! One of my favorite role model siblings is Dr Catrina Pullum who always pushed those who were ready for the journey to their promise! She had me walking in boldness naturally walking in doors that sometimes, I didn’t think were meant for me
How do you motivate yourself everyday?
I am motivated by simply waking up to yet another day! I am grateful for every opportunity to get it right! I listen to songs that ruffle the feathers of the enemy up to plucked! My husband Darryl tells me he is proud of me every day! He makes me feel like I accomplish anything! He is by my side daily and that is motivation within itself!
What do you like to do for fun?
I model and do photoshoots for fun I dance in stores even though I am sometimes physically limited! I volunteer to assist with etiquette for youth I have fun with life!
What do you do to help grow your business, do you read books or seek advice from Mentors or attend any Business Conferences to gain more knowledge about your industry? To help my business grow, I walk in doors and use my voice! I am my brand and I rarely show up empty handed! My favorite books to help were Who Moved My Cheese, 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, Whatever is Best for the Company The Greatest book of them all is the Bible, that foundational Word is 100%
What’s one tip or piece of advice you would give someone else who wants to start a business? I will always tell someone who wants to start a business to have tunnel vision! Never let anyone make you lose your stride! Believe in you! Someone else’s failures have nothing to do with you, Stay focused and don’t give up on you!
What’s next for your business? I plan to work toward getting Southern Best Kitchen On Wheels, we will pop up and give you an unforgettable Dining Experience! I plan to bring families back to the table one meal at time! You can sit down because we bring that Southern Hospitality to you!
