Workplace Design

BVH Architecture is a purpose-driven design practice committed to an immersive and collaborative creative process. We seek to create architecture which enhances and inspires the community in which it serves.

BVH Architecture has engaged in the design and preservation of our built environment through the practices of architectural design, interior architecture, and planning since 1968. Our three studio locations in Denver, Lincoln, and Omaha are home to multidisciplinary design staff bent on making the world better by designing exceptional places to live, work, learn, and play.

A visit to one of our design studios illustrates the creative and collaborative culture we embrace. We utilize an open and energetic environment which allows a unique approach to projects with the collective knowledge of everyone in the studio, and we encourage our clients and the community to engage with us in our design pursuits.

At the core of our design practice lies the desire to do more with built environments than meet minimum requirements. Our vision as designers is to transform lives by creating places that contribute to the vitality of communities.

DESIGNING WORKPLACES FOR THE FUTURE

As employee demographics, technology, and work styles continue to evolve, so must workplace design. Our goal is to create environments that inspire, perform, and reflect your organization’s values— starting with a smart, integrated design process.

HOLISTIC, INTEGRATED DESIGN

Our process begins with understanding your goals— so furnishings, systems, and brand elements are integrated from the start, not added at the end. From collaborative zones to individual workspaces, we align design solutions with your business strategy.

INSPIRATION THROUGH EXPLORATION

We believe firsthand experiences fuel great ideas. Touring both familiar and unconventional office environments can spark new thinking and help to benchmark trends. We’re happy to organize tours of our recent work and other trend-setting spaces to inspire your vision.

BRAND -DRIVEN SPACES

Your workplace should tell your story. We infuse your culture and identity into the environment—through local materials, storytelling graphics, and design choices rooted in your mission. The result is a space that feels authentic and connects your people to your purpose. Throughout this booklet, you will see workplaces that truly reflect the culture, goals, and personality of their respective client.

SMART SYSTEMS, CLEAR VALUE

We bring deep expertise in designing efficient, costeffective systems. Early and ongoing cost analysis ensures every design decision supports your budget and goals. Our experience in corporate and logistics facilities helps us maximize long-term performance— balancing human comfort with energy efficiency.

HEALTH, WELLNESS & SUSTAINABILITY

People enjoy spaces that feel good. Natural light, fresh air, safe materials, and access to the outdoors all contribute to employee well-being. We take a research-based approach to designing environments that support physical and mental health—both inside and out.

COMMITMENT BEYOND CONSTRUCTION

Our work doesn’t stop when the space opens. We verify that goals around air quality, comfort, acoustics, and performance are met—and adjust as needed. We also analyze how the space functions socially to make sure it works for real people, not just on paper.

PROVEN COLLABORATION

With deep roots across Nebraska and the Midwest, we bring strong relationships with trusted subcontractors and suppliers. Our experience and market knowledge give you access to skilled talent and competitive pricing—ensuring quality, accountability, and delivery you can count on.

WHAT IT IS—

When Lincoln-based advertising agency approached BVH to redesign their existing downtown studio, we took it upon ourselves to infuse our client’s personality and ethos into our own design process.

In order to reflect Archrival’s bold, creative culture, BVH engaged staff in a design competition to seek the best idea. The charge: reimagine Archrival’s studio and push the creative solution to the extreme.

The result? A studio created by and curated with their own personal objects. Trophies, artwork, nerf guns, luchador masks all became a driving force behind the space itself.

Open, semi-open, and enclosed work spaces are located around the perimeter—accommodating a myriad of different working styles and personalities.

Designing Core Beliefs

Fabricating the io.Desk

Led by the BVH.io team, the io.Desk project synthesizes our three core beliefs—the pursuit of knowledge, our commitment to people, and our desire to elicit a sense of wonder—with the use of simple material, complex data, and a lot of collaboration to create a unique welcoming element to our studio.

Utilizing a simple dot grid, the matrix was distorted and abstracted by introducing ‘polar hotspots’ which would push and pull the dots along their x-and y-axis. Dowels were then cut at varying lengths to be installed into the holes to create the illusion of an undulating surface wrapping the three sides of the desk. The task of installing more than 21,000 dowels was distributed among the firm’s staff, and clients were invited to install special clear acrylic dowels engraved with their name at an official brand launch event.

This collective effort demonstrated the importance of people to our creative process, and highlights the incredible results that can be achieved through collaboration. The design’s organic form and subtle perspectival play encourages guests to engage with the desk’s surface, and to experience playful moments of surprise that might ultimately elicit a sense of wonder.

WHAT IT IS—

After spending decades in an undersized office space, Warren Distribution enlisted BVH to design a new corporate HQ that would celebrate the company’s culture while attracting its next generation.

A diversity of space types, ranging from dedicated workstations to more casual work areas, were incorporated to provide employees with the ability to choose where and how to work.

“In the end, we ended up with a refreshing new space that all 100+ associates appreciate for its fit, form, and functionality. We saw our move as having the potential to instill a culture change for the good and we exceeded that potential by leaps and bounds.”

Repurposing a previously abandoned manufacturing warehouse, the new Scooter’s HQ takes advantage of prime real estate along Interstate I80 in Omaha.

The illuminated facade appears opaque by day, while a redefined front porch provides much-needed employee amenity space. Beyond the all-glass entrance awaits an illuminated front lobby with reception desk.

Private offices marked by wood thresholds array the perimeter, leaving the center of the office space open. Layers of transparency allow users access to natural daylight and views to the exterior.

A red fabric-wrapped form, inspired by an inverted coffee bean funnel, provides additional meeting room space as well as acoustic baffling.

WHAT IT IS—

HUDL’s new global headquarters features four stories of activity-based work spaces. The design set out to reflect the company’s brand and focus on employee individuality.

Not everyone works the same all the time. Hudl’s squad-based project teams are no different. Open office, lounges, meeting rooms, phone booths, and private niches are all located throughout each floor.

The ‘Arena’ at the center of the building connects the 4th and 5th floors via bleacher-style seating. With a functional half-court at its base, the space is used for weekly all-hands-on-deck meetings and doubles as additional employee workspace.

UBT Corporate Office

WHAT IT IS—

In consolidating seven departments to a single location, Union Bank & Trust sought to create an office environment that supported and stimulated creativity and collaboration amongst its employees.

Offices that contain a diversity of working areas allow employees the autonomy to choose where they are most productive based on the task at hand.

Bailey Lauerman Office

The result is a robust new space complete with multifunctional areas for work and play—providing that critical ‘wow factor’ for their roster of national clients and representatives.

Columbus Community Building

WHAT IT IS—

LOCATION

Columbus, NE

SIZE

78,000 sf

The new Library, City Hall, and Cultural Arts Center is the cornerstone of downtown Columbus— fostering growth, education, and recreation for all generations.

Elevating Columbus for residents was a top priority for city leaders, requiring strategic and resilient placemaking to create an inclusive space that met the needs of all community members.

Staff and the design team focused on dynamic spaces for community interaction, collaboration, and idea exchange.

Open spaces with flexible seating provide opportunities for individuals to thrive, connect, and learn.

WHAT IT IS—

Situated across from the Columbus Community Building, this project emerges as both a civic anchor and a cultural home. More than a workplace—it represents visibility, identity, and community rootedness.

On the ground floor, Great Plains State Bank expands its presence with a more accessible space that is equipped for future community partnerships.

Above, Centro Hispano moves into the spotlight after years in a hidden, undersized space. Their new office features large windows and a central courtyard that encourages collaboration.

Lincoln Central Library

The new library reimagines the existing structure from within. This blend of old and new creates inviting, flexible spaces that foster learning, creativity, and connection.

Natural materials and light shape areas for gathering, reflection, and exploration—spaces that feel both intimate and expansive.

A rooftop pavillion and outdoor terrace act as a civic commons for events, storytelling, and shared moments.
