Personal Statement For Transportation Engineering
The development of every nation hinges on the effectiveness of their transportation systems. Movement of goods, services and people to and from work is made possible by transportation systems. The importance of effective transportation systems cannot be over–emphasized. A lot of countries are facing Transportation problems and my country Ghana is no exception. A trip of about 30 minutes can take about an hour or more due to traffic jams. This is seriously impacting productivity and has been a topical issue in the country. The situation is the same in Uganda where I currently work. To this end, Transportation Engineers are needed to design roads/ highways that will stand the test of time, plan effective traffic management systems to reduce travel...show more content...

What is intimacy? This may be just one question, but it comes with a multitude of different answers. When I looked it up on Google, this is what I found: "close familiarity or friendship; closeness" and "a private cozy atmosphere" and also "an intimate act, especially sexual intercourse." Intimacy is looked at in many different viewpoints. If you think of intimacy with a friend, you may think of the closeness aspect, while intimacy with a partner could be defined as physical, especially sexual.
First of all this paper is going to be written in a diary form. There will be three main sections that I will address to my past, present, and future self. I am writing to my past self in order to reflect on the events in my life that have already shaped who I am currently and to contemplate where my life would be if I had made alternative decisions. Overviewing and self–reflecting upon your past can often point out mistakes that you made and prevent you from making them in the future.
The section in which I write to my present self will be filled with the ongoing struggles, important events, and decisions that I have made recently. It will point out the difficulties and harmonies that I may have with my boyfriend, friends, and family members, and find solutions on how to overcome these issues that I am dealing with.
The section to my future self will include situations that may approach someday in the near or distant future. I will write about how I can use the lessons and Get more content

Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfectessay, story, letter, and assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me improve.
Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point. Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was one of the easiest things about writing the essay.
Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't Get more content

Photosynthesis is a biochemical process in which plant, algae, and some bacteria harness the energy of light to produce food. Nearly all living things depend on energy produced from photosynthesis for their nourishment, making it vital to life on Earth. It is also responsible for producing the oxygen that makes up a large portion of the EarthВЎВ¦s atmosphere. Factors that affect photosynthesis are light intensity and wave length, carbon dioxide concentration, and temperature.
Plants are autotrophs that mean they are able to synthesize food directly from inorganic compounds, instead of relying on other organisms. They use carbon dioxide gas and water to produce sugars and oxygen...show more content...
The surface of the leaf is uniformly coated with a water–resistant waxy cuticle that protects the leaf from excessive absorption of light and evaporation of water. The transparent, colourless epidermis layer allows light to pass through to the mesophyll cells where most of the photosynthesis takes place.
To metabolic pathways involved in photosynthesis are light reaction and dark reaction. The first stage of the photosynthetic system is the light–dependent reaction, which converts solar energy into chemical energy. Light absorbed by chlorophyll or other photosynthetic pigments is used to drive a transfer of electrons and hydrogen from water to and acceptor called NADP , reducing it to the form of NADPH by adding a pair of electrons and a single proton. The water or some other donor molecule is split in the process. The light reaction also generates ADP, a process called photophosphorylation. ATP is a versatile source of chemical energy used in most biological processes. The light reaction produces no carbohydrates such as sugars.
In photosynthesis, the dark reactions are chemical reactions that convert carbon dioxide and other compounds into glucose. These reactions unlike light
dependent reactions do not need light to occur. These reactions take the products of the light–dependent reactions and perform further chemical processes on

The birth of the internet created a revolution on technology, and social media in the world. It created a vast amount of change, and has put humans onto a path that they thought they could not walk on. It has shifted modern culture and helped shape it into a unique one where the internet seems to run the world. One big part of internet culture is the platform Web 2.0. It has helped shape many applications and has had an impact on creation, and content presented in the web to viewers. Web 2.0 can be shown in the popular app Twitter, and it shows how the site has evolved, what concepts are involved in it, and the future of Twitter and Web 2.0. Early Twitter was a great example for demonstrating the concept of Web 2.0, and it involved the use of the 5 C's to help advance its application to what it is now today. Early Twitter demonstrated two distinct traits of Web 2.0 in it's site. The first example is; that Twitter was initially a broadcasting service that was oriented towards what the users wanted from it. It evolved the Hashtag, and the @ symbol use through this and emergent behavior where the people made these without guidance (Pavilik, McIntosh). Another example of its relations to Web 2.0 was the fact that it was constantly evolving and changing its content to what the users wanted from the application (O'Reilly). It also exhibited two distinct features of the 5 C's. Twitter has conversation entwined with its site, as it was a means of communication for people. It also

In regards to discussing my experience in high school, I tend to keep quiet about that part of my past primarily due to the lack of memories I have about high school, especially 12th grade. However, I will say that out of all the lessons that I learned in high school; when discussing concepts like time management and with meeting deadlines, there has always been this one lesson that has been engrained into my brain. Consequently, while this is a skill that I rarely use often, it's used to great effect. In the past, I have used said skill to write stories about those who have protested about civil rights and about the plight for racial equality. This might not be an important life lesson to many...show more content...
After doing this, you can then repeat this process with the next two lines until you have a finished poem.
Imagist poetry, in contrast, uses descriptions that narrate what happens during an event or at a certain place with the use of symbols. Symbols can range from the description of an action, such as marching, to the description of a single person with the use of either appearance or morality. Additionally, these traits can also be used to describe actions and individuals with more religious sub–tones. Those same religious underpinnings can, in addition, be used for companies as well as groups with certain, but very strong opinions about others around them. When these symbols are used to describe a place, a time of day, a person, or a thing, they have the ability to leave not only an impression on the reader, but a feeling. The same result can be achieved to an even higher degree when talking about the issues of civil rights and with having religious symbolism within the poem itself; describing a battle between progression and tradition.
Besides the use of symbols in Imagist poetry, another key factor is the usage of simple language instead of having to use the same two writing tools; those being the abundance of greater detail and rhyme structure. As a result, symbols give the writer this benefit regarding the focus on certain keywords instead of having to waste time with the

Ethos, Pathos, and Logos in Media Rough Draft
What is the purpose of an argument? What is the point in arguing with someone? Well the point in argument is to inform, persuade, or to make decisions about the past, present, or future. An argument is not going back and forth just saying"yes it is" or no it is not". In an argument you use logos by trying to convince the debater that something is right or wrong by giving logical reasons. Pathos in a argument you play the other person's emotion on themselves by creating an emotional connection. As I lift my head up and open my mouth, my voice escalates with every tune that comes out. The soothing words bounce off of my tongue and release the tension held within. Even if the sounds aren't perfect or correct, every little bit helps me get through the day. When stressed, nothing helps me more than singing. My passion for singing comes from deep within my soul, mind and heart. When I sing, I sing with all of me, putting everything I can into it. I have always had a great passion for singing, ever since I was young. I sing a lot, but it's always in my own time, when no one else is around except maybe my mother or father. Even my own brothers, I'm scared to sing in front of. I am an all around shy person, therefore, getting up in front of people to sing is just not my thing. I have been asked to sing and put on the spot before and I just cannot do it. It bothers me that I am so shy with something that I enjoy spending my time doing. When I'm all alone, I block everything out and I'm not hesitant to express, with my voice, what I am feeling. However, when other people are around my voice goes back into its shell, as it becomes conscious that there are people around, listening. Hopefully, one day I can build up enough courage and my hands will stop shaking every time I get in front of others, so I can show them how important singing is to me and what a joy it is and has been throughout my life to do it.
Strangely, to this day, it still puzzles me because I am not sure as to why this happens to me, but I always get emotional when I hear someone sing who has a beautiful voice. I think this is because when I hear a person truly put their all into a song and really feel the song, it makes me feel what they are feeling and puts me in their shoes. Also, I have found myself beginning to cry when I sing in church or hear people sing in church. By noticing this happening, I have found that, depending on what the song is talking about, it really touches me.

Through the art of writing there are many learned skills that attribute to a good essay, and achieving a good essay displays a high level of understanding. In order for a proficient essay to be realistic, then all three factors of ethos pathos and logos must be present, but this is not the most important. Considering the writing process, the part that is of upmost importance that makes an essay into a great essay is a well formulated thesis statement, as a thesis will set the tone for the essay and allow points to flow from one to another. The tone of an essay leads the reader in a direction that guides them to have a specific opinion or strong emotion that is provoked at the end of the essay. This tone is well set by the thesis statement at the end of the introduction to the paper, this thesis will be the start of what makes the essay. In the few words a thesis will contain a claim and two points that support the claim, and in addition, an implied counter–point. The main reason for a thesis to be emotionally or logically appealing is so that is will pull the reader in, and this will invoke the reader to continue to read the work written by the author. In order for a tone be set with emotion or logic, according to the Bedford handbook, there must be a well enough established credibility that proves to the reader that the author is using their pathos and logos correctly, as they all connect through the rhetorical triangle. The use of the rhetorical triangle is used avidly in

In this essay I will look at the ways that Shakespeare has contrasted evil with good in his play Macbeth. The play revolves around the bad and wicked qualities in human nature, but Shakespeare also contrasts this evil with the power of good. This contrast between good and evil is a recurring theme throughout Macbeth. These contradictions start in the very beginning of the play, with the witches. In Act one, Scene one, line 12, the witches say, "Fair is foul and foul is fair." This is interesting as they are suggestinggood and evil as being one. The witches' line reflects on human nature as there are fair and foul aspects to everyone. Our questions are not answered and we are left wondering at the end of this scene. This opening scene is one of the most important. It establishes the witches, who may be considered to be the root of all the evil in this play. This is the start of the battle between good and evil, right and wrong, and this creepy beginning makes the audience feel that things are only going to get worse.
Scene Two, however, is a stark contrast to the previous scene. In this scene we first meet Duncan, the King of Scotland. In Elizabethan times, when Shakespeare was alive (1564–1616), the people believed in the "Divine Right of Kings", which suggested that kings were chosen directly by God. This means that the audience would have a preconditioned view of Duncan. They would assume that he was good, gracious and holy, all traits that would definitely not apply to the witches. The mysterious Macbeth is also mentioned in this scene. However, we hear a different view of this character. Shakespeare uses the structure of his play as well as his characters to show the contrast between good and evil. This is done by the juxtaposition of a scene with evil characters in it before one with only good characters. In Scene two, line 16, the captain describes Macbeth as "brave." He also goes on to tell the King of the horrific battle between Macbeth and Macdonald. Macdonald was fighting for the Scottish side but changed to

United States Mass Shooting The grim truth is that mass shootings are becoming the new normal. A mass murder refers to the antisocial and non–state–sponsored killing of multiple victims during a single episode at one or more closely related locations. Prior to the mid 1990s. In the mid– and late 1990s, a string of shootings occurred. A growing number of specialists turned their attention to the school massacres in search of an explanation for these perplexing events. Nine students were killed at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. A man opened fire in a church, in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine people, including the pastor. Twenty–seven were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Twelve were killed in the Washington Navy Yard. These are only a few examples of a very long list of mass shootings that have occurred. The reasoning for the accessible amount of mass shootings is controversial my theory for the epidemic of mass shooting in the United States is mental health.
