Manager as a Role Model

Being a manager comes with a lot of responsibilities and not everyone can handle such a pressure of being a leader. It is not necessary that a hard working individual with a lot of experience can be a good leader, as sometimes a good leader may not be competitive as some of the employees. As any company's manager comes with many responsibilities including hiring, terminating, scheduling, inventory, supervising and etc.

However, if someone, breaks the rule and constantly do so should be warned and dealt with accordingly. For example; one of my employee was not producing and was taking long breaks and due to that I had to visit and talk to him. I did not want to be harsh and cruel with him so I decided to approach him differently. I went to see him and asked him to sit down. I start by asking him the reason why am I seeing him? Apparently he knew the reason, but I did not wanted to be tough, so I asked him, how is his personal life, and what can I do to help him. Indeed, he had some personal issues which he was dealing with and because of that it was reflecting his job duties. Indeed, I also reflected on his long breaks which needs to cut down to normal. Also, if he needs any help he can feel free to discuss with me. Also, I assured him my support as long as he follows the company's guidelines which he did. My biggest challenge was how can I overcome this hurdle with him and makes him produce. Afterwards, he became one of my top producer and indeed became a supervisor. Managers should know how to take the best out of their employees by leading with example. By all means, managers and senior individuals should be the role models. Therefore, if a manager want to improve and support its employees' performance, he shall model that behavior himself first. Indeed, regular feedback to employees help them understand where they stand in terms of expectation. Also, praising employees will help

This is a question that has been asked by coaches and athletes for years Am I a Role Model? I would say yes, just because anytime a person is place in a position of authority they have the power of influencing people, they might not think they do but they do. There are no set of rules that a person goes by to be consider a role model, is it the way they carry themselves and how they treat others. Being a role model for other athletes to follow should be something that all coaches and athletes seek, but there are athletes the think they are not role models. This might be true to a certain stance, but when athletes say they want to be like you, you have an unwritten guideline to follow so I believe that you should try and show them the right way. As a role model how do you incorporate this into your everyday life? The simple thing to do is to live your life, but to respect others and teach other athletes about right and wrong; just because you have not been caught doing anything wrong does not mean you have not done anything wrong. Older athletes and coaches can teach younger athletes and coaches about life. Every person that is involved in sports has a role they must play and it starts at the top. Take for instance if you see an coach challenging a referee over a call weather it was a good or bad call, does it give the player the right to do the same thing. Some people will say that it is ok for that type of behavior to happen, but this type of action starts a trend and can

"Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them."

― James Baldwin

To write about my role models, I could have picked teachers, I could have picked people extremely influential in their field, and I could have picked models and other aesthetically pleasing individuals. But instead, I found the perfect combination of all three: my mother. There isn't one person on this earth more educational, more competent, and more aesthetically pleasing than my mother. And there isn't one person on this earth that can re–direct my role model focus from her.

My mother has suffered parental loss, the threat of cancer and what might be one of the hardest things to do, raising two girls. At...show more content...

When I told her I wanted to go into music, flute performance especially, she knew that it would be challenging and that I'd be looking for jobs left and right. But she also knew that I was a good player and key figure in the musical world both in my school, state and country, having performed in Europe. Flute is one of the most difficult instruments to be proficient in and master. However, she held me high and let me do what I knew I loved instead of encouraging me to go into a more "stable" field.

Some may say it's easy to choose your mother for a role model, that it's a no–brainer. Not so. Not only does my mother have a professional attitude worth emulating, she has the attitude of a child, too. None of my other friends' mom's are willing to stick their tongue at you while telling you "I told you so!", in jest of course.

I've seen my mother play first string violin at a packed concert house and I've seen her dance and be–bop around the house, mocking my sister and me. I think she's so cool for driving a convertible at age 43, still looking young and not losing that youthful soul. She's got better fashion sense than I do. We go shopping and have a blast every time. I think she's the greatest for being able to come home from a long day of practicing Psychotherapy, dealing with people crazier than I, and just chill out in the living room with me, a glass of wine and Jerry Springer. Either that or Real World.

Role Model Essay

A role model is a person who inspires and encourages us to strive for greatness, live to our fullest potential, and see the best in ourselves. A role model is someone we admire and someone we inspire to be like. Most kids of today pick their role models from who they see on TV. Role models are a large part of everyone's lives. Every person is looking for something different when searching for the best role model for them. But who makes a good model? The celebrities that kids are looking up to are adults that partake in adult and illegal behavior such as partying, drinking, and drugs that lead into violence. Would you consider that a good role model material? Celebrities should not be looked up to as role models.

Think back to the days...show more content...

Kids see celebrities in the news every day and mimic what they do, thinking that they should be like them. But that is wrong. Most celebrities don't know what they are doing in their life because they have a hard time telling reality from fantasy.

Nasra Bishumba interviewed singer Miley Cyrus and this is what Miley had to say, "My job isn't to tell your kids how to act or how not to act because I'm still figuring that out for myself. To take that away from me is a bit selfish." I agree with her because most of the celebrities our kids look up to are still kids their self, growing up and learning from their own mistakes. So how are we going to let our kids look up to other kids? Then of course there are others who see celebrities as good role models like Kristine Tucker. She stated, ''Celebrities who complete college coursework, have an interest in politics, write books, study literature, travel abroad or engage in debates showcase their intellectual skills.'' Majority of the stars today's youth look up to didn't even finish school. They have their mangers write out statements to say in an interview to sound well educated or have others talk for them. This is not how we want our kids to learn. We don't want them to speak the minds of others to sound well educated. We want for our kids to have a mind of their own, be–able

The Teacher As Role Models

As an educator you get faced with the task everyday whether or not it is your responsibility to teach moral values and to develop good character traits in students in your classroom. What people do not realize is that teaching is much more than just the information in the textbooks and for that reason, I do believe that it is the educator's job to teach moral values and to develop good character traits in students. As an educator, you have to be able to teach the whole student, you have to be willing to teach them life lessons, and not just educate the student based on the standards of the textbooks. It was expected that when children went to public schools that they were to be taught moral values. As stated by Angela Lumpkin in her article entitled, "Teachers as Role Models, Teaching Character and Moral Virtues," found on the CSU Chino database, she states, "When public schools were established in the United States in the 18th and 19th centuries, one of their stated missions was to teach moral virtues (Lumpkin 45)." I found this very interesting because since public school came about, no one had a problem, in fact they were expecting, teachers to teach moral virtues in the classroom. Nowadays, as an educator, you have to be very careful about what you teach in the classroom because you don't want to offend anyone, but that does not mean you should only be teaching children the standards out of the textbook. Continuing on with Lumpkin's article she says, "Teachers back then Get more content

And my Dad responded by saying this, "I do it because I enjoy seeing you guys happy." How would I ensure that my work goals and plans reflect the organisation's goals and plans?

To ensure that my work goals and plans reflect the organisation's goals and plans, first I would identify what the organisation's goals and plans are. The identification can be done by examining the organisation's strategic and operational plans. Strategic plans sent out an organisation's goals or what it hopes to achieve over a specified period of time, usually three or five years. Operational plans also focus on an organisation's goals. Unlike strategic plans, they focus on a shorter period of time, often just one year and they tend to be more detailed and outline exactly what each work unit needs to achieve in any given year. Besides examining the organisation's strategic and operational plans which can be time consuming, another way to find out about the vision and strategic direction of the organisation is to consult a manager or a supervisor. In particular, ask them to explain what the goals for the organisation are with facts and figures. Tell the manager or supervisor what tasks I can be doing

Growing up, I had supportive but strict parents and three older siblings to use as my role models. When I say my parents are strict, it stems from the fact that my dad is a Baptist pastor. Given that my dad is a pastor; my parents expected me and my siblings to go to school, church, and participate in extracurricular activities before or after school. So, I didn't miss school unless I had to, I went to church every Sunday and I participated in fellowship of Christian athletes and band. Now that I am almost entirely independent from my parents, I still enjoy things that I enjoyed as a child such as going to church, spending time outside and seeing my family. However, I also enjoy things I didn't experience growing up such as playing pool, traveling to places of my choice, or volunteering at places of my choice such as a nursing home. I have been working at an assisted living facility for two years now and I love working in geriatrics. I never would have known that as a child because I didn't experience volunteering with elderly people. My grandparents were the only elderly people I had contact with and while they were awesome, just the two of them couldn't fuel my decision to work in geriatrics. I needed to experience being around a variety of elderly people because not all of them are as kind, patient and positive as my grandparents. I feel that I have my own identity now that I can choose how I want to spend my free time. While my beliefs and values may be similar to what my parents instilled in me at a young age, they have become my own set of beliefs that define me. People always ask me what I want to do when I am done with school. Right now the answer seems pretty straight

Aristotle's Idea Of A Role Model

The reason we can believe Aristotle's concept of, if we perform X actions, then we become X is due to the process of habituation. This is when we unconsciously begin to put a theory in to practice, such as knowing what courage is and acting upon it. Aristotle proposes that we exam the right ways to act, and significantly what he means is we ought to find a role model (an archetype) of whom we desire to be like. In cases of courage, a child could have a significant role model that they have in the back of their mind that demonstrates someone who can stand in the face of adversity. In effect, the child will attempt to mimic actions of courage by facing adversity in whatever form it demonstrates itself as (a difficult challenge). In effect, by wanting to face adversity the individual knows they are attempting to be courageous....show more content... (The individual willingly agrees to face whatever challenge is ahead of them, and takes pride in doing so). However, this can cause the individual to become brash, but significantly through the consequences of being brash the agent will learn to properly scale their acts of courage (this way they are not consistently acting irrational when they face adversity too large of proportion). However, this can be problematic if one does not find pains from acting in an excess of courage (this is because the agent could get themselves hurt from acting brashly). The reason this can happen is because Aristotle states virtue is about pleasures and pains; the actions that are its sources also increases it or, if they are done badly, ruin it (NE 3.11). Consequently, the individual would find a greater sense of satisfaction/pleasure by taking on larger proportions of adversity, however by doing so they also face greater consequences that may harm

What so much of the world actively hungers for in its public life, and so very rarely finds, is there in Nelson Mandela – leadership with moral force. Nelson Mandela didn't just spread awareness to stop racism and apartheid but also wanted to spread love and kindness among the people of the world as during the UN they asked everyone to take 67 minutes out of their day to aid others. Being a role model for my little sister has not only made me stronger, smarter, and wiser, but it has made me more of a woman. Every little girl needs a woman to look up to and to learn from. A role model is someone who can teach and learn. By being a teacher to my little sister, I have not only taught her, I have learned from her. In 2009, my life changed. The most beautiful little girl was born, my little sister, Kara. The things that I have learned and continue to learn from her are endless and she has changed who I am as a person, even more so, a friend.

Growing up ten years older than my little sister, caused me to mature fast. I was the one who she was going to look up to for the rest of her life. Often times I have been responsible for her. I have had to drop her off at piano, get her ready for cheer practice, and take her to church. The list is never ending. When she was born, I became very motherly and acted like a second mom to her. Having her in my life made me want to be a role model to not only children, but people in general. Growing up around a little girl, I had to always watch what I said and did. On March 28, 1968, King led a march through Memphis, Tennessee, which, like all his marches, was intended to have been peaceful and non–violent. But thanks to a gang called "The Invaders," the march disintegrated into rioting and looting. King barely escaped the March 28 event unharmed, and swore to return to Memphis and "conduct this demonstration properly – with no violence." The date for the new march was set at April 4, 1968. This time, King would not survive his fateful trip to Memphis. Additionally, local newspapers criticized King when he announced he was coming back to Memphis for a second round. Among other comments, the local press criticized him for staying at a white–owned Holiday Inn, instead of the Motel Lorraine, which was black–owned. Hoping to avoid further antagonistic press in wake of the disastrous March 28 demonstration, King's camp switched his accommodations to a room at the Motel Lorraine, where he died on April 4. From a security standpoint, changing King's lodging to this particular motel was a bad mistake. The Motel Lorraine was located in a fairly seedy part of town. The day before King arrived, someone claiming to be an advance security man dropped by the Lorraine Hotel and changed King's reservation from a ground–floor room to a second–floor balcony room, saying, "Dr. King always likes to

on Martin Luther King as a Role Model

Growing up with my little brother, Harrison, has been such a blessing to me and my parents. Without him my family would not function the same way we do now. We spend a lot of time together, go to the mall, go to the park, have lunch dates, play video games, and sometimes we go to each other's games to cheer one another on. We have come a long way compared to how we used to act towards each other. Growing up with him was extremely challenging considering he followed, mocked, teased, judged, tattled, physically abused, and harassed me. Over the past fifteen years, Harrison and I have really grown closer because of all the arguing and I honestly believe that this is what brought us together. This may sound odd and extraordinary but not only is he my brother, he's also one of my best friends. Over the past fifteen years I 've learned that I am a role model to Harrison and that he looks up to me.
